Do not rent through Foxtons

If you are a renter, please do not use Foxtons. They are a scammy horrible company that only serves the interests of the landlord. They rented us an overpriced disgusting dump by using old out-of-date photos in the rental ad, and locked us into an abusively restrictive contract that made it impossible to leave the horrible dump that ruined my mental health. Do yourself a favour and stay away from these money hungry scammers.

Extremely poor experience with Foxtons

Extremely poor experience with Foxtons. We were left without proper cooking facilities for 25 days, which had a major impact on our daily life and forced us to spend extra money on food. A functioning cooker is a basic part of any home, yet this was not handled with the urgency it deserved.

I dislike having to leave negative reviews especially when Foxton's comes so highly recommended but my experience was nothing short of terrible. I found a flat through the company and upon receiving the lease, the legal document was full of typos and mistakes. Upon paying the deposit and signing the lease, I was told at 6pm that I had to make the 12 month upfront overseas rental payment that day or I would risk losing the property. This was never raised to me before they demanded the payment out of business hours. After paying the deposit and signing the lease, I was informed that the property had fallen through. I had already made arrangements to move and was forced to resign my current lease. I then had to get my deposit back and had to call numerous times as my emails were ignored. Additionally, I was informed by the deposit insurance company that my deposit was no longer protected. I eventually got my deposit back after numerous emails and phone calls. Throughout my time with Foxtons, the team was ill informed and unprofessional forcing me to resolve most of the issues myself. I understand this may have been one bad experience, however, I strongly advise against using this company unless you absolutely have to.

They are falsely advertising my house for auction. I have contacted them via email and phone, but they still haven't removed the ad. I requested them to delete this on Friday 15th of August. Ivy assured me this will be deleted. An agent called me on Monday to sell me my flat via this auction. (I didn't pick his name). DELETE THE AD. Update: call again. Recepcionist (I think Morgan) kept me on hold because Jordana, from the auction team couldn't take my call. At some point she said "I can't help you, I'm just the recepcionist ". Yes you can help. You can help by being understanding, profesional, polite and being good at customer service. You answered the phone, I asked to be passed to the Branch Manager, she asked "in regards of what" I gave you an explanation and in a very "bratty " way you replied "well we have 2 branch managers so I guess the sales one". I guess mate. I don't work there! I've called multiple times to get this ad deleted from your website. Update: 20 August, an agent called me to say "How can I help you with", didn't even know why he was calling about. He told me to "not be fuming, or angry". I am. Your agency tried to sell me my own property. Who knows who else you have called to sell MY property. I had to send another email ccing my solicitor and the brilliant agent from David Atsbury (who also had to call you this morning to delete the ad). Finally: the ad is down. Terrible agency. Yes, I am fuming and I don't trust your agency. Friday the 15th you said you'd delete the ad. It has taken 5 days, multiple calls and emails.

As a landlord (don't hate me!) paying for a managed service, they tried to charge me £90 + vat to fix a meter door with two cable ties. This is typical, and I have to chase them repeatedly for everything. My tenants and I deserve better.

Shona is a great person to work with. She is very kind, responsive, communicative, smart and respectful. She listens to your needs and priorities and comes up with alternatives that make sense along with explanations and advice, and obviously this helps a lot to build confidence in the person one is working with. Julide Kul was extremely helpful in our flat search! We had been looking for a while and thanks to her found a property that was perfect.
