We have bought and sold a number of houses through Jan Forster Estates and have always been totally impressed with their efficiency and pro active approach to getting the property to market and out there as soon as possible. This last house has been sold through Lorraine and her team within a month. She has given us exceptional service and we trust her completely. This is so rare these days.

We were really pleased with the service we received from Jan Forster, they made the sale of our home so much easier, achieving quick viewings and a quick sale. Even when our initial buyer pulled out, they were quick to reschedule further viewings and we had a new offer the same day. Louise Claber was amazing, being so understanding with the stress we were under and putting me at ease when things weren’t going to plan, no need to chase for updates, Louise would call me and reassure me whenever it was needed. Amazing service.

TrustpilotThey tried to sell us a subsided house
They tried to sell a subsidised house without disclosing any of this information to us, including the fact that the house sits on a mine entry. In addition, they conducted group viewings, which felt totally disrespectful. If there was too much interest, they should have pre-qualified potential buyers or simply been honest about the condition of the house.

While you have stated that we attempted to sell you a subsided property, I can confirm that no sale has been agreed through our agency. To the best of our knowledge, no prospective purchaser has commissioned a survey or undertaken searches in relation to the property, and therefore we are unable to substantiate this claim. We would also like to note that it is not uncommon for estate agents to conduct open house viewings when a property generates a high level of interest. However, should you prefer a private viewing, we would be happy to arrange this, subject to availability. I have nothing but great words to say about Jan Forster Estates in Gosforth. I bought my first home and dealt with Louise. She was quick to update me and chase up the sale with the solicitors. I heard from her more than my solicitor so cannot thank her enough! If we ever come to sell the house we will 100% come back

Sold our home initially in June 2025 within 2 days of being on the market, with Jan Forsters advertising to their “waiting list” of customers for our property type/location. Chain broke down later that year through no fault of Jan Forsters who were brilliant throughout in chasing the chain. Jan Forsters advised us to remarket in March 2026, again sold within several days of advertising from proceedable buyers known to Jan Forsters. Sale completed 19/6/26 without any issues, wonderful service from Jan Forsters, (Susi in particular), and would highly recommend them to sell your home.

I would strongly advise anyone considering working here to think twice. The way staff are treated is unprofessional, disrespectful, and frankly unacceptable. There is a complete lack of basic management skills, communication, and understanding of how to run a business or support employees.

GoogleWhat a waste of time! Viewed a house. No response to my questions post visit, just a very abrupt are you putting an offer in? Felt like I was dealing with an auction house. Ended up buying a property from another estate agent in the end. Would not want to deal with them again because of the manner in which they handled the process of bidding and communication. Could also do with reading their emails before they send them and check the use of exclamation marks and text speak in what are supposed to be professional communications. Not sure if emails are the right way to tell people their offer has not been accepted. Would a two minute phone have lead to a collapse in the housing market? Just read your response and I am very sad that the response below (suggests) that I was perhaps sore that my offer was not accepted. A cheap shot, which to me, further supports my comments. My comments all along have relayed to the poor communication and the impersonal service I received from you. If I had purchased the house my response would have been the same. You're missing the point of the constructive comments. The emails you cannot find, I am sure I can reclaim from my deleted items for you. Just ask. And maybe you can answer the questions I asked of you in the first instance and you have completely ignored and continue to do so.As stated in my personal email to you (which you requested), I delayed in responding as my medical profession takes a lot of my time and I travel out of the UK. The locations I travel to do not have open modern communications and use of mobiles, etc is often limited for security considerations . In fact, it was google, that kindly reminded me that I owed you a review. My comments are my narrative of my experience and at 50+ years of age I am not given to fiction. I hope others have a better customer experience than I had with your company. I hope you start actually listening to feedback and stop misrepresenting your customers ( because that is what I was).What a poor show. Have a good look at how you treat people. The market never stays in bloom forever. Buyers will be important once more and they will remember. Feel free to say you cannot find my emails but please explain when and where to use an exclamation mark and text speak to your staff. Such a shameful way to treat people. Never again. Hopeless. Utterly hopeless. Arrogant beyond words. Diabolical. Stay clear. They are terrible. Honestly lost for words as to how poor they are. Wonder how they are managing now? Still running unofficial closed bid auctions? Well the market cools. Time to chase the buyer…..always a cycle!! Useless. Look elsewhere.
Dear Mr Fawcett, we have found your file and we are sorry you have been unhappy with our service. We have investigated but we have no record of you asking questions. We do make sure we take the time to answer any queries properly. We do know you were keen to secure a property and we are sorry that the owner accepted a different offer. The manager did email you specifically to let you know as you had been communicating via email. You did respond to her email which led her to believe that you were fine with the situation. We are sorry that you weren’t and if we had known of your concerns at the time in July then we would have changed things then. We are pleased you have now got property and appreciate the feedback. Abysmal estate agent I actually removed them due to the incompetence of the long Benton branch I took them to the ombudsman who are actually paid by estate agents so is a waste of time , anyway I paid twice , as soon as I moved estate agents my home sold in 5 days , everyone has there own opinions but the consistent bad reviews show them for who they are lessons learnt

Whilst in our contract, we did find a buyer for you who unfortunately decided not to proceed. We tried to help and actioned all your requests, however, you decided against our advice to use another agent whilst in our contract period. In line with our complaints procedure, the matter has been fully and properly investigated by the Property Ombudsman who found that we had acted appropriately and were not at fault. Clients can rest assured that we are a reputable and helpful estate agent.

GoogleJan Foster Low Fell Office : High Quality Service We are part way through our buying of a property through Jan Foster and Belle and Karen and the rest of the team have bene extremely helpful, attentive and supportive. We are first time buyers and Jan Fosters have kept in touch with us during our searches: sending us properties right for us and even having a personal touch to know what we may go for. Now we have found our home they have continued their professional and personal touch with calls and correspondence to keep up updated but also keeping the vendor aware of our position so everyone is happily moving forward.
