I made a mistake and never checked the price first, l foolishly just let the estate agent arrange home report which cost me £420. I later checked with Home Report Scotland and they quoted me £307.80 which is 26% cheaper!! Beware folks get quotes first.

DM Hall Home Reports include a Mortgage Valuation Report as standard and are widely accepted by all major lenders, not to mention our RICS accredited staff who have a huge amount of expertise and knowledge in the local area. Appreciate the guy was just doing his job but seemed a stricter/worse score on the home report than when we bought the place, AFTER making improvements.Worried this will affect the selling price.Perhaps the previous report was over-generous?

TrustpilotThe extreme variation in survey styles.
The surveyor uses descriptions that may standard style but do not describe my house how I would. Also there is no opportunity to discuss aspects that may increase a valuation...because they are hidden; ie dimensions and technical description of insulation. In these energy cost aware days this is very important.With work on my house continuing when do certain construction aspects become noteworthy?

On arriving at my house both surveyors were pleasant and polite, Once inside they surveyed the house in a timely fashion asking me questions that was relating to the house and fixtures, Once receiving the report i did ask for something to be amended, it was in a very quickly, I would highly recommend DM Hall Chartered Surveyors

Terrible company to deal with, different values from the same company that increased after complaining, made up valuations, unable to take justified challenges, and management are opionated and brash. Would not recommend or use again.

A very professional experience. I appreciated the small details that I should look out for. The report is very thorough without going over the top which you paid a hefty premium for back on the old survey system. Any minor details was soon rectified on the draft then produced to the agent very quickly.
