Rented various properties before through other Comapnies and always felt they were on our side, not Smart. From Josh making us wait around on our first viewing as he was late, and then not having answers to 3 of our questions regarding the property. Then having the cheek to ask us to leave a 5 star review for him! To renting the property to us with the garden in an embarrassing state, the downstairs toilet being blocked making the house smell terrible, then asking for pictures of the blocked toilet before sending a plumber?! Our second property rented through another agent at Smart was when things went from bad to worse. The carpet had been heavily soiled and was mouldy due to the previous tenants having dogs and they made us feel that we were supposed to just deal with it and let our 3 year old play on it as the Landlady was unable to pay for a replacement. In the end we had to pay for a new carpet ourselves (we spent the first 3 weeks in the property avoiding the Living Room), and then battle with them on leaving our tenancy for them to pay us to leave it in (only after we threatened to put the old one back in). Sometimes you wouldn't even get a response to a phone call or email. This is all only scratching the surface. Avoid this company at all costs!

My husband and I were impressed with the level of service provided by Annemarie from the start. We made an online enquiry on a Friday morning, and by Friday evening we had viewed the property and placed a deposit for our rental. I have had the most amazing experience with SMART. I was worried that my purchase (and sale) would be stressful, overwhelming and confusing. I am so grateful to SMART for making my experience the opposite to that. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend SMART to anyone else. My previous experience with estate agents left me genuinely angry and frustrated and I felt none of that this time round with SMART. Thank you so much to all the team but especially to Amelia. Amelia went above and beyond to help me through what I was scared would be a daunting process. Amelia kept in regular contact and helped communicate and educate me through it all, whilst always being friendly, warm and knowledgeable. I can’t imagine getting through it all with out her.

Professional, fast, friendly

I went to a few viewings with Smart Estate Agent before finding the right rental, every time they were friendly, helpful and punctual. Once I found the right place and made an application they were quick to get back to me with the acceptance. There were a couple of things that needed updating at the property, but they were sorted promptly and I was in the property in about a week. So far if I've had any questions or requests they've been back in touch within an hour, and they've been resolved. It's not a great time to be looking for a new place, particular in Cornwall, but Smart Estate Agents are by a long way the best experience I've had with any lettings agent. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with Emily Barlow & Amelia (did not get her surname). There was not a time where we have not been informed about the application process for a property. She would always answer almost immediately and reassure us if we had any questions. It was such a smooth, quick and pleasant process since the viewing! We felt like our time was valued and we have been supported with our reallocation to a new place. I would also recommend Smart Agents - having an online platform with all of your information in one place is very handy. A friend of mine recommended Smart EA to me and my mortgage advisor was also very approving of them so I decided to ask them to help me with a house sale. Now I am so glad I listened to my friend as Smart EA gave me the best rate in town, the best service and the best attitude! Heba and Amilia were SUPER-helpful, providing tons of advice all the way through the sale, addressing whatever issues I had and making sure things were moving on as smoothly as possible at every stage of the sale. Finding a buyer was a breeze and I was very impressed with their positive attitude when I saw potential buyers coming out of my property smiling! A very poor experience with this company. I have now been to view two properties with them. Most recently I went to view a property and discovered online that the property had been let. After a promise to let me know either way, no communication whatsoever. I also sent a follow-up email which was ignored. This is both unprofessional and demonstrates what sort of company they are. This company only seem to have the interests of the landlords at heart. Tenants are simply numbers with little thought given to how much time people take off work to go and view properties. If you are a tenant I would recommend looking elsewhere for more experienced letting agents especially judging by the other reviews given by existing tenants regarding repairs not being dealt with and general unprofessionalism. AVOID.

Couldnt be happier. From 1st phone call it felt like these guys ment bussiness. I was well impressed and sold on using Smart within the 1st 20mins of meeting Lisa. She explained how they go about things and it just sounded a more modern and ruthless way of doing things which I didnt get after meeting other agents. Less than 24 hours after agreeing to go with Smart my property was online. I had an unseen offer in under a week and then acepted an offer the next day after the first day of viewings. Amelia was my contact as soon as my house went live and right up to completion. I was impressed with the way she would contantly chase things, gave fantastic feedback and the regular updates. Always polite and extremely determined. I tried selling the same house 2 years Prior with a different estate agent and they failed. This time I used Smart and had sale agreed within 7 days. That speaks for its self. Highly recommend!

Long term tenant review

We have been renting with Smart since 2020 in 2 different properties.Overall the experience has been brilliant. There’s been a couple of occasions where things get forgotten about or we have had to send a follow up once or twice but things seem to have improved a lot since the pandemic which lets face it was a difficult time for everyone. It does feel like over the last few months there has been a conscious effort to step up customer service and it really has been a five star experience lately. Repairs are generally sorted out quickly, especially urgent ones, and in terms of property inspections they have been extremely accommodating my partners odd working hours when arranging these. At our first property the landlord at times was reluctant to meet his obligations and Smart applied pressure to get things done, luckily where we are now the maintenance provided by the landlord / Smart is fantastic. Everyone I have spoken to, met or emailed has been extremely polite and friendly, even when I’ve been my usual grumpy self!A special shout out to Amelia, Sophie, Emily and Josh who we have had a few dealings with. All of you are a credit to your team and have eased an awful lot of stress for me!
