GoogleI can't thank your staff Max, Sammy and today Lisa enough for my experience. I chose your storage after contacting a couple of companies. From the outset Sammy phoned me at home (whilst I was eating) she offered to phone me back which I thought very understanding. That in itself sold your company to me there and then. I had to use the storage as my home got flooded and at the outset Max and Sammy couldn't be more understanding of my situation.
Then coming to your unit for the paperwork etc the following day with my daughter and her girls, everything was explained so well even (my old brain) understood. A lovely gesture too Sammy giving the grandchildren colouring to keep them occupied. They explained about the codes etc to get in and out how I had to make sure I entered codes at the end of each visit to save security coming out. Then when I contacted to end my time with you again very helpful.
I emptied the storage today and again the girls so helpful even to my bonus of explaining the money that I had coming back to me.
Thankyou so much from the bottom of my heart.
You should be very proud to employ such good staff.

GoogleThe staff were helpful enough, but the lifts were both out of order. We were on the top floor, and finished up getting stuck in the lift for 20 minutes. There is only a narrow fire escape staircase, impossible to carry large items up it safely. Please rectify this soon.

GoogleFriendly staff, and reasonable prices. Inside is very clean, laid out clearly and a wide range of storage sizes available. Access to the loading bays can be a struggle sometimes (only three bays) but the rest of the car park is ample, so generally, there is no problem parking. There are also more than enough trolleys to assist loading/unloading. Access is a bit of a pain, right in the middle of town - it can get busy negotiating around it at weekends - but otherwise its simple to find - the huge yellow building is hard to miss!
Access to your storage is extremely convenient - simply tap a pre-determined code into a control panel. I guess it could be handy if these visits were emailed to you, to prevent any unauthorised access, or confirm access times, but otherwise, the process is very easy.
Repeat business is also very straightforward - from booking the storage requirements online and then paying in person, the storage was immediately available.

GoogleI booked with Big Yellow Colchester 2 weeks before the day I needed self storage. Went through the online form to make the reservation. After the completion it said I can come in and pay in person on the day of the booking.
The day before my booking date I went to confirm everything online, I confirmed my identity and my direct debit. To my surprise after an hour they cancelled my confirmed reservation. I tried again by calling them same thing happen twice.
I called back support to fix this issue. They told me the store is going to reach out to me to resolve the issue but never did.
I was left in a position where I’m leaving the house the next day with movers, cleaners and all parties coming in and without a place to store my belongings.
I couldn’t find anything at the last moment as it was already the afternoon. I had to pay 3x the amount to finally manage something by the neck of time.
I would say they have most unprofessional business ethics. I understand logistical issues but least let the other person know in due time so that they can find or manage alternatives. If you did mess up then at least be straightforward or even be sorry about it.
They just don’t care. I would say if you value yourself, stay away!!!

GoogleFirst time using big yellow, but so far service has been impeccable, everything fully explained so I understood what was happening. Gary the manager showed me different sized rooms so I could get the right one for my needs. Nothing was too much trouble and Sammy behind the counter is a delight , happy, efficient and also cared about making sure I got what I needed.
I cannot recommend this company high enough.
And no, I do not work for them! But will always be my first choice when I need storage again.

GoogleI cannot recommend the Big Yellow enough. I have to mention George, who could not have been any more helpful. Having been let down by another storage facility. He found us a unit twice the size of that which we had previously booked with the other company at virtually half and for twice the time we originally requested with the other company. The previous company wanted £200 deposit Big Yellow £70 deposit. The previous company was 5" x 10" Big Yellow 10" x 10". The previous company wanted you to take a minimum of four months. BIG Yellow not too sure, but there was no problem with asking for four weeks. All in all, I would recommend Big Yellow every day.
