I had a fantastic experience with Mia and Zoe at the front desk of Rettie & Co in Edinburgh. Both were incredibly professional, friendly, and helpful throughout the process. They were always welcoming, quick to respond to any queries, and made everything feel seamless. Their attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile made a real difference. Highly recommend their excellent service!

GoogleUnresponsive and incompetent. We had tons of issues immediately after moving into our rented flat, including 3 leaks. They had those fixed quick enough, but everything else got delayed for weeks and even months. Kirsty, the property manager, simply stopped answering the phone. Emails were ignored. Even upon leaving, the flat still had issues that remained unfixed, even though we were promised they'd be sorted. After the checkout process, Kirsty sent us an old checkout report, the one drawn up when we moved in. Didn't even bother to check the date or the notes on the PDF, else she would've noticed the report was from 2020. She vaguely mentioned that there were going to be charges for "further cleaning" - how much and what for? Who knows. We left the place spotless, which it certainly wasn't when we moved in. Now they're delaying the deposit refund process too. Still can't reach the property manager on the phone. Still haven't received the correct check-out report, a reply to the deposit refund request, or an explanation. I wouldn't recommend renting a flat through this agency. GoogleRettie managed my rental flat for 3 years and then managed the sale over the last couple of months. It was quick and easy process getting it on the market. Flat sold within a week and for a higher price than expected. Nick Scott was great - very responsive to questions and efficient. I would use Rettie again.

After being a perfect tenant for three and a half years I got sent a 54 page document about “ faults “ on leaving our tenancy , things like a mark in the carpet where the bed was etc , I cleaned the house within an inch of my life but they went round it with a ruler and took photos, I had several slight marks and an excessive amount taken from my deposit to cover silly little finger prints. I had also cleaned the close within an inch of its life as Rettie ignored all emails regarding people dumping rubbish , I left the flat and the close in a better state than I found it , this is what puts people off renting ! Please choose another agent as they do not deal with issues correctly and choosing to ignore emails for months.

We were double-crossed on a potential property purchase in Berwick-upon-Tweed. We put in an almost full-price offer on an expensive (for Berwick) house, and were told that the vendors were inclined to accept our offer. Just a few days before we were set to agree on terms, we were informed that another potential buyer had cropped up and that the vendors felt obliged to show them the house. We were surprised, but asked if we could make a counter offer if these new potential buyers ended up making an offer. We were assured that we could. All of a sudden, we were told that the new buyers had made an offer that had already been accepted and that the vendors would not, after all, entertain a counter offer from us. Either the listing agent was incompetent and badly informed, or the fix was in and the agent and vendors had already decided to sell the property to the other buyers. I would never recommend that anyone I know do business with Rettie, and obviously I never will do business with them again.

GoogleVery poor second viewing of a property. First impression was employee shouting from the window to rudely explain how to use buzzer. They then could not shut window and unaware this is an issue on the home report. Hilariously later had to be corrected on the flat number. Incredibly unprofessional and unprepared. Previous experience with Rettie’s selling a property in the stair I live. Advertising that an illegally acquired section of a communal garden was private, having not checked the title deeds. This company unfortunately seems to employ people who look, talk and dress a certain way with no substance. I will be avoiding and advise others to do so.

We have been letting out a property via Rettie for two years now. This was our first property we have rented out. Our portfolio manager,Jess, is just fantastic. She is proactive, committed to resolving issues for both tenants and ourselves and has great judgment. We are kept very well informed and guided expertly through all processes. Jess really cares about our property and also cares about us having fantastic customer service. We have no hesitation in recommending Rettie as a letting agent.
