Landlords please avoid Gilson Gray Ltd
Awful experience with Gilson Gray, looking for assistance with eviction during the moratorium. With GG we were poorly advised, if given any information at all, invoices were badly managed and costs quickly spiralled. When my tenant attended GG's office, unannounced, (tenant was: damaging property, fighting with neighbours, generating complaints, contravening tenancy agreement, rent arrears £1,000s) GG spent 18 mins providing her comfort & advice, which I was not happy about and, even less so when presented with the bill for time GG chose to spend with the tenant. In my opinion, GG are far more interested in making money, than assisting their clients and I would advise landlords in a similar position to avoid engaging this company. After significant expenditure, much upset and little progress, we decided to go no further with GG. We joined a landlords association and, with their support & guidance, took the eviction process into our own hands. I would recommend investigating this route to any landlord seeking to evict.

Excellent property management experience
We just moved into our new apartment and our property agent was Gilson Gray. I must mention that the entire process was really smooth and was professionally handled by them. Our property manager, Nomsa took care of all the essential stuffs (from documentations to tenancy agreements) , and we were able to move in within 2 weeks. I would really recommend Gilson Gray for everyone else who are looking for new property.

Keep away from Gilson Gray . They are hiding the cost until you see the bill . One hour meeting not important solicitor for £400. If I know that , I would definitely find someone else . Even ridiculous, they sent the invoice into wrong address and put you into court . Please keep away from them . They are greedy ,no credit , hiding fees ,discriminating ,and playing you through their law knowledge . They only want your money . I am very shocked by their service and behavior. Never ,ever use them again.

Communication is awful
Communication is awful. Trying to purchase a property and have no idea on a completion date as no one calls me back. Emails take more than a week for a response and even then not all questions are answered.
We appreciate your feedback and apologise for any frustration you may have felt. Our clients are at the heart of everything we do, and we take feedback from clients very seriously. We will pass your feedback to Gary Tyman (Head of Conveyancing) and Cherie McBean (Partner in Conveyancing). If you would like to discuss your concerns, please contact gary.tyman@gilsongray.com or Cherie.mcbean@gilsongray.com.

Would give zero stars if I could.
Would give zero stars if I could. Please do your research and do not go with a legal firm because the Estate Agent tell you to. Caused me huge amounts of unnecessary stress and money.

Terrible experience- do not touch
Just purchased a house where the seller used Gilson Gray. Terrible experience with unnecessary delays that ended costing us over £1,000 in extra costs. Not to mention the added stress and anxiety due to the uncertainty that they created. I would not recommend and would actively advise anyone to avoid this company if they can. We will be writing to the Law Society of Scotland to complain as feel their levels of competence and professionalism fell well short of minimum expectations.

Absolutely awful
Absolutely awful. We were recommended Gilson Gray by our mortgage broker and as first time buyers we naively thought that we would not be recommended them if they were no good.... biggest mistake. From the moment we began proceedings with them it was like drawing blood from a stone when trying to get information from our allocated solicitor. We had to do a lot of the chasing from various places on behalf of our solicitor as we were fed up of waiting for her and our seller was threatening to pull out. We were advised that due to us not being in a chain it should have taken only 3 months to complete, it took a little over 5 months. A few days before we were due to complete our solicitor contacted us via email to say we had not signed the deeds and could complete after all. As first time buyers we signed everything we were asked to sign and sent of via recorded delivery months before. We checked our emails three times just to make sure we hadn't made a mistake, the deeds had definitely never been emailed to us. This made even more of a delay. It wasn't until our solicitor had gone on annual leave for a week and our case passed to someone else to cover that everything seemed to be pushed through and we completed within that week. Even then they tried to overcharge us. I am aware that buying a house is stressful anyway, but having Gilson Gray handle our house purchase has been the most stressful experience and biggest mistake we could have made. We most definitely will not be recommending them or using them ever again.

It was a battle royal.
It was a battle royal but we all got there in the end!It took approx. 8 months from acceptance of an offer to its successful conclusion, due to several challenges which included new Government directives along with a change of Managing Agents half way through the deal. While the commitment of the various Gilson Gray team cannot be doubted there were times when communication gaps added to the angst upon this client, which was due purely to his/her own desire to just see the whole thing "done & dusted".In the end...Good job!

Bitterly disappointed - avoid at all costs
This company appears to either excel (going by 5 star reviews) or fail completely (going by the 1 star reviews). Unfortunately you can't afford to lucky dip approach when trying to buy a house.Communication was appalling, not just unable to get through but a lack of promised call backs or email responses. They failed to pay money on completion day - had we been in a chain this could have caused real problems.Response to complaints usual platitudes - I guess they're big enough not to care.

Great First Time Buyer Experience With Danielle
Being first time buyers, there was a lot we didn't understand. Danielle was brilliant from start to finish with the plethora of questions we threw at her, was kind, considerate and polite throughout. Will use again!

Gilson Gray are uncommunicative, disorganised, greedy, and overall incompetent. Every email I received from them was filled with mistakes; repairs to the property went unanswered for weeks; my landlord eventually had to contact me directly because they were incapable of doing anything; they tried to hold some of our deposit despite the landlord's wishes. The agency is not fit to organise the letting of properties, perhaps organising a piss-up in a bar would be more their speed, but then again this might prove difficult for them.
Where the same review appears twice we show it once. We leave out reviews that name another agent or another of the brand's offices.
