Gilson Gray were the most efficient company I have dealt with in a long time. In particular Tracy McAlpine in the Glasgow office. She explained every step of buying a new property and selling our home that we had lived in for 26 years. If I emailed she called and went through my query with an assuring, pleasant and professional manner. We currently are in the process of purchasing our first home with this company. Originally the reviews on here were mixed but coming back I can see they have got a lot worse. Our conveyancer Aisha is uncontactable. Phone calls, email, voice mails, urgent emails apparently sent by the admin team all go unanswered. We were hoping to complete next week Tuesday 3rd December but I highly doubt this will happen. The amount of stress this is causing, not just to us but also to the seller. Everyone has booked time of work, arranged delivery vans where deposits are going to be lost and honestly it’s like they don’t care. We are at the point where we are considering finding another solicitor. If you do read this GilsonGray can you sort this absolutely mess out.

Horrendous experience of selling our…

Horrendous experience of selling our property with Gilson Gray solicitors, in particular Sammy. Over the space of 7 months, she asked for the same document to be sent 3 times (This happened on 2 separate occasions!) Nobody in the company knows what the other person is doing, They don't respond to emails, or answer the phone (Sammy will answer the phone eventually, but you have to call...let it go to voicemail...hang up, and repeat this process 6 or 7 times, after that she eventually gets annoyed and picks up the phone, her approach is Very unprofessional) The whole process of selling the house took over 7 months, which should have been done in half the time, all this was down to the incompetence of this company, in particular Sammy. Avoid them at all costs.

Please DO NOT USE Gilson Gray.We will be reporting them to watchdog as we believe there is something seriously wrong with this firm. They need to be investigated. A qualified solicitor couldn't be this bad, even if they tried!! I'm pretty sure my brain dead mother who is in a coma could still do a better job than this firm can do.Heres a small list of why they are so bad in our experience:- lack of communication- lack of organisation- lack of knowledge - lack of understanding - lack of common courtesyLet me elaborate.They cannot reply to emails without 6 or 7 prompts.They lose documents and emails. On multiple occasions throughout your delayed process.They don't understand or can even comprehend simple questions.They can't understand why a client is dissatisfied. They can't seem to apologise for anything they do wrong. They refuse to use a telephone.They breach GDPR and send all your personal details to random email address. They cause financial loss to you as a client, but refuse to acknowledge their mistakes.What are the pros to this company?-They are great at dodging emails and calls.-They are great at keeping you as a client for longer by delaying the process.-They are great for breaching data-They are great at getting paid for losing clients sales.How is this firm even allowed to trade!!

I have tried begging

I have tried begging, crying, phoning and emailing everyday. But nothing works with such an imcompetant, unprofessional company. Different people take over the case every week. The chain was complete on an empty flat in May. The buyer has been in rented accommodation since August after the completion on her house. The people at Gilson Gray are rude and unapologetic, they don't care about the client. The manager Gary Tyman is as bad as his staff. You will notice they never respond to the bad reviews. Do not let your estate agent recommend them, use your own solicitor at all costs.

Avoid dealing with this firm

I am in the process of buying a property and the seller is using Gilson and Gray. My conveyancing firm is fine but we/they have been meet by nothing but issues with this firm. There is zero communication, huge unnecessary delays and a general lack of responsibility. I will be lucky if my own chain does not collapse as a result of their inability to respond to emails. I have now had to get to the unfortunate point of threatening to pull out if we do not get a response (I'm 4 months in, coming up to 5, zero chain, and basic queries are still awaiting an answer)

Gilson Gray Conveyancing - Do not use!

Do not use Gilson Gray for Conveyancing! If I could give them zero stars I would do. Initially was ok, but as soon as our case was passed to the actual conveyancer (Afsha Kanwal) things went quickly down hill. I was unable to to get any communications with them for weeks. If you call it goes straight to voicemail. The voicemail is full, so you cannot leave a message. I had zero responses to all emails (despite an auto reply telling me I'd get a response within 48 hours). I tried the main reception number, multiple times, who told me that we get Afsha to call me back. Never happened. I tried to escalate to her manager who also never called me back.In the end I was forced to find a different solicitor company and so glad I did. My new ones issued the contract pack to my buyer in 24 hours. This after weeks of nothing from Gilson Grey.

We have used Gilson Gray on two occasions to purchase houses, receiving exemplary service on both occasions. The terms of engagement were fully explained at the start of the process and, once agreed, aspects such as arranging surveyors for a Home Report and photographers for the preparation of the Schedule were taken forward without delay. From initial discussion to website marketing/ advertising took exactly one week. Our more recent house purchase was overseen by Karen and, to a lesser extent, by Megan and we were kept fully informed throughout. The Gilson Gray viewing bookings app kept us exceptionally well informed of upcoming viewings and provided feedback/comment from individuals who had viewed the property. Karen was thoroughly professional throughout, communicated with us on a daily basis, offering expert advice and guidance as appropriate.
