Dove Davies looked after my flat for over 20 years and they were excellent. Always professional in their dealings. Always prompt with payments and if there ever was an issue with a tenant or repair I felt it was always handled sensibly. An excellent service and would highly recommend to anyone.

Not a bad letting agent as far as these things go. Been with them for about a year now, they seem to have a good stock of reliable companies on hand for repairs and such. Were one of the companies enforcing a 2 month notice period though - not sure how they've reacted to the legal changes last year in that regard.

We moved into our flat which was clearly not deep cleaned before hand due to bugs being all over the flat. We looked after the property and left it in a much better condition than what we found it in but they still heavily charged us taking from our deposit. I've been a tenant with Dove Davies for 5+ years. After renting with other more flimsy agencies, it's been nice to be with a reliable one for a change. It's an old flat, but any issues I've had have been dealt with in a timely fashion - I think it's also helped that the landlord has been amenable to the work needing done. All inspections have been carried out with proper notice and on time. No qualms about recommending them to others. ++ Update October 2017 ++ Surprised to see some of the negative comments. Maybe I'm lucky to also have a very decent landlord. That must help. Still a happy tenant, with no new issues.

We rented a nice property in Marchmont from 08 August 2008 to December 2011 that was managed by Dove Davies. I'm giving them 2 stars: one star because we had a nice flat, and one star for the extremely helpful employee Anna Drobczynska who dealt with all our requests (who no longer works there). I'm taking off stars: 1. they charged us tenancy fees and even after I sent a letter to reclaim them, Mr Dove himself sent me a mail saying "You will see that it (the law) does not state that administration fees were illegal prior to the 30th November 2012". In fact, fees were unlawful even before that and the change from 2012 was to clarify that ‘premium’ does indeed include administration and service charges. 2. the lease is renewable every 6 months. This means that if you want to vacate the property before the end of the 6th month, you have to either pay the rent for the leftover months, or find new tenants. We did the latter, we advertised the property, we arranged viewings, we found new tenants. The highly unfriendly administrator there, however, didn't inform us that the tenants move-in date was a few weeks after than we had initially agreed making us thus in charge of the rent. Ouch. I am happy I don't have to deal with them any more.

Rented a property with DD for 2 years from August 2013. I found the office staff very difficult to deal with, over the phone and in person. On a particularly bad occasion one lady raised her voice to me after I misunderstood something. No prior warning that she had lost her patience. We were 3 postgrad students in an HMO property however I felt like we were treated like 18yo straight out of high school! As a final DD farewell, it took over 8 weeks to get our deposit back (with a ridiculous amount taken off for what was obviously wear & tear, after 2 years in the property). I have given two stars as DD were efficient at sorting out maintenance issues and the initial application process went smoothly. Obviously just a bait!! Conclusions: for an agency that should pride itself in customer service, there were a severe lack of employees that had the correct people skills to deal with what I imagine is a stressful job. Although most agencies in Edinburgh aren't great, we have now switched to Southside Property Management, who will currently get a 4.5 star review....

Dove Davies & Partners is an excellent company! We have used them for over 8 years now and have found them to be very responsive to our needs and professional to deal with. They have also been very proactive in making recommendations that would help maintain our property and make it more marketable for future tenants. I've been a tenant through Dove Davies since 2001, and they have always been very efficient, friendly and helpful. Whenever I've had a problem with the place, they have had someone round within a couple of days, and when everything is going well, they've left me alone and not made a fuss. Also, they've been understanding and flexible when I've made mistakes. The only negative thing I can think of is that they only have one email address for all their business, and sometimes my emails to them have been lost in the traffic. So now I always telephone if I need to tell them something. Apart from that they are an excellent company and I'd be happy to rent from them again.

I am a landlord and Dove Davies have managed my property for around four years. They are not the cheapest, but I have to say from a service point of view, they have been excellent. In those four years, I have had no major issues to deal with as everything has been handled by the staff at Dove Davies. The flat has barely been empty, thus my income from it has almost constant whilst at the same time, the flat has increased in value. However the time has come to sell it so I just thought I'd place a review on here to pass on my thoughts. I would have no hesitation in recommending Dove Davies to anyone looking for property management services. If my experience is anything to go by, you won't have any problems getting your property occupied and keeping it occupied and any issues will be dealt with timeously. All in all, the last four years have been a financially rewarding and stress free experience.

I haven't got my flat yet and I'm already regreting it. The agent who attended me was totally unpleasant. She didn't have the minimum interest in getting a new customer. They give you more obstacles than advantages and make you lose a lot of time. I could notice a depressive environment in the office. Probably, the fact that all the staff in the office is over 60yo might have something to do with that. Honestly, try to avoid them!

Their customer service is severely lacking , most of the staff are rude & unhelpful. The only pleasant & helpful person I dealt with was Bob! I was trying to get a flat with dove davies, absolutely disgraceful. They're horrible people, horrible service and so rude on the phone. They can't do something so simple. I moved on and got a lovely flat at newhaven with rettie and co. Which are 100% 5 stars unlike dove davies. Don't waste your time with this company
