The ‘gentleman’ Neil Crawford and his colleague Donna Kelly are by far the most unprofessional I have experienced. That much, I have resorted in contacting the CEO Fraser Crichton in hope of a long overdue response and return of deposit in full. Poor, very poor. Do not touch them.

GoogleI have used Dove Davies for more than 30 years - 10 as a tenant and 20+ as a landlord. I have always found them to be professional, helpful and flexible, whether it be for normal tenancy matters or for one offs (eg managing repairs & renovations). I have never had any problems with my tenants, and always feel that Dove Davies manages to get the balance right with fairness for both the landlord & tenant.

I have sent you an email giving you some background details but apologise again. There was an extremely high volume of enquiries relating to the property in question and we received multiple applications. We were working through these prior to arranging further viewings. GoogleWe let our flat via Dove Davies and found them to be excellent. Advertising and selection of tenants was efficient as was ongoing management and liaison with tenants. I particularly appreciated the way they dealt with any minor issues that arose - usually without the need to contact me. This was beneficial to both me and the tenants. I recommend Dove Davies to both landlords and prospective tenants.

GoogleReally friendly and helpful staff when we visited their office in Edinburgh looking fir accommodation to rent. Offered us a viewing the very next morning on a property. This was amazing considering how difficult it is to secure viewings with demand for property far outweighing the supply. Highly recommend this company for their professional and supportive approach.

GoogleVery unhelpful. I went for a viewing of an apartment, they wanted to rent out the apartment to me, which is great! However, since I just arrived in the UK (from NL) and I didn't have a previous address in the UK, they wanted me to pay 6 months rent in advance. Nobody told me this during the viewing while I did explain that I just arrived in the country. I didn't receive answers to questions like "Will you pay the prepaid rent back if I leave after 3 months?" or "Can you increase the deposit instead of having me pay six months in advance?". As a full time employee at the University with a doctoral degree, proof of employment, references from abroad, I felt that I was treated with utmost disrespect. I would appreciate it if an agency provides a bit more service and leniency since I am clearly not a criminal..... Edit: From Dove Davies: "rent would be repaid should you depart early". Again, you could have simply told me this when I literally asked about it.
Dear Frank, sorry to hear you weren't happy with your viewing. The provision of a higher portion of rent in advance is unfortunately normal for anyone that can't provide a UK credit history. An alternative is for you to provide a Guarantor who does have a suitable credit history. We do provide some more information on this within FAQ's on our web site. There are legal limits on the amount of rent and deposit that can be requested and of course any over-payment of advance rent would be repaid should you depart early. I hope this clarifies the position and wish you luck with your search for a suitable property.

GoogleBefore leaving the UK to work abroad, I carried some research to decide which Property Management Company to leave my property with. I decided on DD. I chose DD because they displayed the balance of looking after the interests of the Landlord firstly and also the tenants ( I had previously been a tenant for over 10 yrs so was keen to have a Company that could deal fairly and timely with any renters issues also). I have now been abroad for over 17 yrs, and during this time DD have proven to be a very capable and safe pair of hands to leave my property with. For me it has been a hassle-free experience, which is what i was looking for :)

GoogleGreat agent to use. Been using them as my agent for many years to rent my flat out due to their helpfulness and the fact they just deal with everything for you! They recently handled a complete renovation of my flat, from quotes to contractor, project managed and advised on all aspects of decor/FF&E - all I had to do was pick the colour of the cabinets! It looks amazing, and subsequently able to significantly increase the rental value with a decent ROI. It was all on their advice too.... so they make sure your getting value from your property. Would highly recommend them

Googleme and my husband have rented our current property with Dove Davies since April 2015 . and in that time if we have had any issues they have been dealt with very promptley .the staff are always friendly and polite . when ever we have had a appointment ie boiler service or any sort of maintanence they have come round at times that we have asked them to call at due to me being at work . my husband has mobility issues and the landlord allowed the council to fit a hand rail in the bathroom for him we also had a disabled bay put outside even when we asked the landlord if they would decorating the bedroom they done it for us we would highly recommend Dove Davies to others

GoogleMy flatmate and I are first time renters in our 3rd year of university, we have been renting a lovely flat from Dove Davies for around 2 years. We have had regular inspections among other services such as boiler services etc. one of which had to be rearranged as neither of us were available to attend - it was efficiently dealt with and re-arranged with no questions asked. Apart from the necessary emails we haven't heard a peep - it is just like having our own home. Our landlord has been grand and Dove Davies has been a pleasure to work with, we will be sad to move out after graduation. Thanks for everything so far! I'd definitely recommend Dove Davies to others.

GoogleAs one relatively new to the business of renting out a property, I was looking for a letting agency who would take the hassle out of being a landlord. Dove Davies had been recommended to me after a succession of difficulties with the firm I'd initially used: and I've been entirely satisfied with the service which they have provided - they were certainly all that the person recommending them to me assured me they would be. They have managed the property well, anticipated issues, advised me helpfully, and have always put their client's needs and concerns first. It has been great to have had the service of a firm who clearly know their business, are attentive to their client, and are ready to go the 'second mile'. They have been efficient in all aspects of their business, prompt and patient in dealing with every enquiry, and courteous in all their dealings with me. I can highly recommend them!

GoogleFor years, Dove Davies managed to find excuses to take half my rent almost every month. They hit me with a load of charges when I tried to leave and got a bit spiteful. It wasn't until I found another popular rental agent when the money actually started to roll in from my two properties. I know these reviews can be damaging to businesses and being annoyed you can write a lot of things that are untrue or said on the heat of the moment but this was my experience so i'm sharing it for others to benefit. Keep an eye on what they are charging you (ask to be called before a charge goes on over a specified amount) try and negotiate a better rate.
Dear Dylan, I was disappointed to read your review. One property we managed for nearly 10 years had an occupancy rate of 98% with costs of 24.6% for management, repairs/maintenance, local authority/statutory charges, insurance costs, etc. A location outwith the city centre is reflected in rental value but not on costs. I still believe this to be a very acceptable figure. Your second property was managed by us for only 16 months and had an occupancy of 99% and costs of 42.4%. This is high yes, but unfortunately redecoration and repairs were required before letting on top of routine costs set against a short period of income. Two sound and compliant properties, one with a tenant in situ, passed to a new agent, would show improved returns. I was sorry to lose a valued client. Regards Colin

GoogleI am currently a tenant with Dove Davies and have found them to be an excellent agency. They have sorted out problems efficiently and to a high standard. The most impressive example of this was their response to an issue with my shower, which was no longer running hot water. A contractor came out to see what was happening and within a week I had a completely new shower. This was replaced whilst I was at work, with the gleaming new shower on the wall the only real evidence that anyone had been in! I am extremely grateful for such an efficient service, particularly after having some bad experiences with other agencies in Edinburgh. I would recommend Dove Davies to anyone looking to rent in Edinburgh.

GoogleWent to view a Dove Davies flat which was beautiful. The agent in the flat openly told us about how the company charge tenants higher rent as they are no longer allowed to make a profit from deposits! He also mislead us about how to apply for the flat and so we wasted a journey to the offices, only to be told the flat had already been taken, even before we had viewed it! The staff at the office were arrogant and needlessly rude.
Hi Sarah Sorry to hear you weren't satisfied with our service this afternoon. When you viewed the flat there were 6 other groups of potential tenants viewing and it was made clear that you would need to complete an Application Form if you wished to take it further, thereafter we would take up references. One of the groups viewing went straight back to the office. They had already been unsuccessful with another property so we already had their references and the owner immediately accepted them as tenants. Unfortunately this was just before you arrived at the office. I am sorry if you felt misled but this wasn't entirely unintentional, there was no way the person conducting the viewing could have known this. I think you misunderstood the comments made regarding deposits and rents. Fees are no longer charged by letting agents in Scotland and deposits are no longer held by letting agents as they are passed to one of three custodial schemes operating in Scotland. Rents are always determined by demand and supply and the market will ultimately determine if these are rising or falling. We appreciate that you will be disappointed missing out on this flat, unfortunately we have more applicants than properties at the present time. The people who have been successful here lost out on another property so hopefully you will find something soon. We wish you success with your search.

GoogleTerrible service from the beginning, the person appointed to take viewings was extremely rude and embarrased us in front of other viewers. We were 10 minutes late due to traffic and he made this clear it was an issue even though others were walking round viewing the property, then asked about children and said they wont entertain us (this should have been checked before even booking us a time slot. Complete waste of our time...never felt so humiliated.... AVOID
