Nightmare. Contacted them to view a property we thought about buying. Asked to see the home report and arrange a viewing. Got put through the Spanish inquisition before we could arrange a viewing. Within 30 seonds of the call finishing, the phone rang again. This time it was their head office asking the same questions I had just answered! When it came to arranging a viewing we couldn't agree a time that suited. They said they would need to contact their viewing agent and would get back to us the next day. That was four days ago and still no reply. I realise we may miss out on property but will not be considering any property from A&H again.NegativeQuality

First time buyers - Excellent team

We were buying as first time buyers, we had no idea what we were meant to be doing and when. Our sale wasn't the easiest due to many complications from the developers, but Carly and the team really went above and beyond for us. I was able to call nearly every other day and they'd all be cheerful, tell me I am not a fool for constantly chasing, and just being absolutely lovely. I highly recommend Allen and Harris! Their customer service is on another level and they would bend over backwards if that would help the process move smoother.

Very little communication. AVOID!!

Avoid this company at all costs. I used the PPAISLEY branch, I was misquoted on the fee cost and over quoted on the value of my property. So, it cost me MORE to sell and my property was worth LESS than they said. After taking time off work to allow Allen & Harris' photographer in my property I ended up asking them to use my own photographs. I was told I would be contacted once a week with an update, but this rarely happened. Prior to my flat selling I hadn't heard anything for over 3 weeks. I has to ask them to check viewers were actually viewing a property that fitted they're search criteria. A constant reason a buyer wasn't interested was that it was in the wrong area. Goodness sake! Google maps!! Check with the buyer where they DO want to stay!! That was beyond strange, why view somewhere that is not in your search area? I honestly doubted half my viewers even existed. Weekly calls from the office from Leanne soon stopped, these calls were embarrassing as Gary who sold me on using Allen & Harris had assured me that my property was in high demand. This was obviously not the case OR this company were not doing their job. I eventually had to chase up this company to make sure they were doing all they could to sell my property. I think they were more relieved my property sold than I was, I got ONE phone call to say an offer was being initiated and that was the last I heard from them. Everything then came thro my solicitor. They did practically NOTHING to earn their over-rated fee. Avoid this company at all costs. I have only awarded 1 star as there is no option to give ZERO.

Avoid Allen & Harris at All Costs

If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with Allen & Harris has been nothing short of a nightmare. They have proven themselves to be disorganised, unresponsive, and utterly devoid of empathy or professionalism. Here's why:1. Horrendous CommunicationFrom the outset, communication has been abysmal. They failed to inform us of critical changes in tenancy terms (such as extending a 6-month contract to 12 months) and took months to respond to emails about important tenancy changes. When they finally responded, they often appeared confused or uninformed, adding unnecessary stress to an already challenging situation.2. Delays and MismanagementEssential repairs took months to address. A broken window, reported in March 2022, wasn’t repaired until July after multiple visits where contractors only measured the frame without progress. Scheduled property visits were frequently missed, wasting my time and causing disruption with no apology or explanation.3. Uncompromising and Rigid ApproachWhen I went through a personal breakup and sought to amend the tenancy arrangement, their inflexible, punitive approach compounded my stress. Rather than offering support or solutions, they imposed excessive fees and unreasonable demands.4. Unfair Treatment of TenantsAllen & Harris treats tenants like afterthoughts, despite the fact we are paying clients. Their disregard for tenant wellbeing became glaringly obvious when my former partner, who met affordability requirements, was still subjected to unfair guarantor demands. This lack of decency and respect is inexcusable.5. Profit Over PeopleIt’s clear that Allen & Harris prioritises profit above all else. The landlord's interests seem to be their only concern, with no consideration for the tenants who make their business possible. The handling of our tenancy transition felt like a thinly veiled attempt to push us out and raise the rent to a more lucrative amount.Allen & Harris epitomises everything wrong with estate agents today: exploitative, unempathetic, and incompetent. If you value your time, money, and mental health, avoid this agency at all costs. They have caused me and my former partner immense stress and anxiety, and I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone else.

Wonderful company to deal with

From the initial meeting to the conclusion the Ayr office were fantastic Caitlin, Ben and Allan were calming and reassuring at all stages. I am the anxious type so their management and constant updates were very welcome. I wish I had gone with their lawyers too in retrospect. I would not hesitate to deal with them again!!

Would give zero if I could

Would give zero if I could. We had lots of issues with the house and the estate agents just ghosted us. To this day, they still owe me money for the keys because they couldn't even manage to get keys cut right (never heard of checking?). I keep asking when it will be returned and Lewis just says "I will get back to you". Special shoutout to Lewis for being particularly useless on this matter and for maintenance issues overall. They left us with broken furniture for a whole year- they kept saying they would send someone to fix it but never did. The house had an awful mould problem- they sent someone over to give quotes to install extractor fan in bathroom but nothing came of that. They tried to milk money out of the deposit but we argued so they backed out (their claims had no merit). Would not recommend. They don't check that houses are suitable to live in, and they don't respond or care if there's an issue with the house. Not responsible, practical, or reliable.

I rang their rose hill branch to let…

I rang their rose hill branch to let them know a property they are managing has a sofa outside which is causing an eyesore and was put through to the manager. She spoke to me so rudely, refused to help and hung up on me.

Shockingly bad company to rent from

Shockingly bad company to rent fromOne of the worst renting experiences we have ever had, doomed from the start to finish. Left us in unsafe conditions with mould, broken shower and flea ridden carpets with an overwhelming stench of dog despite telling us the property had been professionally cleaned.Eventually after numerous kick offs they brought in cleaners who agreed the state of the property was close to inhabitable. They noted the landlord had tried to use paint to cover the extent of the mould and that it was only likely to get worse. We had agreed prior to move in to bring our pet, however this was completely missed off our application by the team and subsequently caused another kick off from our landlord, trying to void our rental agreement and request our pet was re-homed due to their grave error. They claimed the building was a listed building and we ideally were wishing for the single glazed windows in the living room to be replaced due to how cold it gets during winter despite heating on. This was refused even though the bedroom and kitchen windows had been replaced and there was no record of the property being listed. Lastly as our tenancy agreement was coming to the end, we were surprised with the news that the flat didn’t have a Carbon Monoxide alarm despite passing the gas safety before move in, this means us living there was completely illegal due to having gas appliances but yet they continued to work with the same landlord and readvertise the property for rent.Overall there is a complete lack of care or interest for tenants at all and they seem to completely priortise getting money from landlords. They do not care for people in the slightest.

Shambolic Company

Sold our house with Ayr/Kilmarnock branch in July this year. Gave them keys as they were organising the viewings as we were going on holiday. My daughter went to my house to collect car keys and both our front and back doors had been left unlocked. She called me to advise and when I phoned them they denied this and obviously we had no proof. It was basically our word against theirs. We were spoken to and treated as if we were stupid. Would never recommend them or trust them to do anything.

I was absolutely delighted with the whole process of selling with Allen&harris. From the valuation, marketing and sales from David, to the organising viewings and keeping me in the loop with Connor. Property sold in 4 days. Got about 20K more than I thought I would get. I would highly recommend and if I was selling again I know who to go to without hesitation. X

Rude and abrupt - Clarkston Branch

I have been waiting a month for a call back with more information. I found a couple times over the month and got told that I would be called back. I phoned today and the lady was rude and abrupt, saying they already phoned - which they did not. This whole experience has made us never want to use them.

This should be 0 stars

This should be 0 stars. Don’t rent from them, shameless money grabbers. They don’t know what they are doing, liars and that’s all they care is about money. They do not care about tenants unless it’s money. They don’t know what they are doing within their team as one person says one thing and another says another. They lie about coming to agreements and shift the goal posts after they take your money. You pay early to full contract, hand in keys and leave property, then they tell you that your still liable to pay all the bills and council tax even though your not in there. After the fact, They tell you that you didn’t follow early release protocol and yet when I tried to ask for early release at the earliest opportunity they said there is no such thing. They are shameless - stay away!

If you’re renting my honest advice…

If you’re renting my honest advice would be to avoid this company like the plague!!! This company only have one focus within their little set up and that’s money money money. Happy to take their cut every month, but not happy to take responsibility or ownership when things go wrong. We’ve had nothing but stress and trouble with them since renting off them, the local office is run by kids who don’t seem to have any clue of their roles, probably only driven by commission and not customer service. AWFUL AWFUL COMPANY.

Shady, sneaky, dishonest.

Hope to never have to deal with this company again. This company work only for their own self-interest and not for their clients. Purposefully deceitful in order to bump up offers and sabotage accepted offers that they aren't happy with. Avoid.

This agency is a complete joke

This agency is a complete joke. The day I involved them in the sale of my house I regretted it. First the Branch Manager went off sick and that was the start of our problems. Their surveyor couldn’t even work out the size of our house correctly and underestimated the size of it by nearly a third, and was way out with the valuation. The Area Director was supposed to sort it all out, but I later found out he didn’t even know who to contact in Connells Surveyors. The final straw was they hadn’t even the decency to cancel the contract and let us get an agent who knows how to sell a house. Avoid Allen And Harris Hamilton at all costs!

Dreadful service from Allen and Harris…

Dreadful service from Allen and Harris Stratton Branch and especially Steve Hudson. This branch used to be fantastic and I bought my house from them over 3 years ago but how things have changed. Luckily I had brilliant agents selling my property (Richard James) but have the misfortune of buying one through Steve at Allen and Harris in Stratton who is totally useless. He has lied, been uncommunicative and never even supplied me with the property details that I'm buying. Without any assistance from Steve, we're finally nearing completion and I've been trying, without success to contact Steve for the past 2 days but he's refusing to answer my emails or calls. This review is solely of the Stratton branch but I would suggest you re-think your agents if you're in this catchment area

Had to give 1 star as giving none was…

Had to give 1 star as giving none was not an option. My daughter was a long term tenant (10 years plus) but was unexpectedly served 2 months notice to leave. Reason given was to replace the kitchen. This was a fabrication as the flat was then remarketed and let with nothing changed. The Allen and Harris bath branch who were the letting agent were unhelpful in finding alternative accommodation, devious and unprofessional in their conduct of business (lies, mixed messages, not responding) and finally delayed the return of the deposit. This was an appalling way to treat a long standing tenant of impeccable credentials. Please take heed and go elsewhere as the trauma and hassle of dealing with this agent is not worth the effort.

Harry from Allen and Harris

Harry from Allen and Harris, supported myself and my partner with our mortgage process and application. This included 3 x face to face appointments. During the appointments harry was very professional, friendly and approachable. Things we didn’t quite understand, being first time buyers, were explained in great depth. Not only did harry sort out the mortgage application, but also all the important insurance covers too. May I add, 10 days after our mortgage application was submitted, we had an email back to say it was accepted! Much quicker than what we thought the process would take! ☺️ thank you! We would definitely recommend

Thoroughly recommend Allen and Harris

Thoroughly recommend Allen and Harris. Selling a house that was my grandparents and latterly my late parents was a difficult and emotional thing to do, coupled with me living a two hour drive away. The team were very kind, thoughtful. Kept me up to date and really went above and beyond, offering to get legal paperwork from their office to my solicitors for me. I would particularly mention James Lamb and Connor Sherman. I wouldn't hesitate to use Allen & Harris for buying or selling any property.
