GoogleWe would highly recommend Dowens(Durham). Everyone was extremely helpful, friendly and very professional. We dealt mostly with Sally who was helpful from start to finish, nothing was too much trouble for her dealing with our queries.
On the rental side we own property which we rent out through Dowens. Again everyone was so helpful and friendly, starting with John who explained everything and made it so simple. Also Dawn who deals with the lettings has been so helpful too.
Would use Dowens Durham again and have recommended them to our friends.

GoogleInitially very friendly and helpful, eager to get us booked in for a viewing which was great. Viewing day came, received a phone call to rearrange, no reason given but was apologized to. Rearranged for a few days later. Arrived to the area of the viewing, couldn't find it so I rang and asked if they could help, to be told that the house had gone and that we weren't even booked in for a viewing. Again, apologized and asked for details. Was reluctant to give them and put the phone down. Poor experience although I hope this is a one off from this place, but can't be sure.
Will not be using these again.

Thomas, thank you for being honest with your review. I am obviously very disappointed to hear your comments, this comes to me as a big surprise as Dowen Durham very rarely receives poor reviews. However no one is perfect and mistakes/complacency can happen, this is my job to eradicate it. The branch has been hugely effected by positive covid 19 tests therefore putting stress of the work force. I hope you find your perfect home but if you were to see a property through Dowen please call me direct and I will personally book the appointment. GoogleI recently rented my first home through Dowens estate agent and I absolutely could not fault them
At all. When originally viewing the house my viewing agent arrived on time and with all of the correct documents including my application form if I did wish to take it. Then once I had submitted my form my lead agent Was JAN INGLEBY she was absolutely amazing, I was quite nervous throughout the whole process and I kept bothering her with questions but she was always so helpful and happy to answer any question no matter how silly, she was extremely productive and the most helpful lady I ever did meet. She got everything sorted for me within 1 week she still to this day she checks up on me and the property regularly. GoogleFrom the moment we met Mark when he came to value the house in July we knew we had made a good decision. He valued and took photos the same afternoon. He took some great photos and represented our house to the best he could.
When we were passed on the the office to book viewings and always provided with full information, feedback was provided afterwards and chased up if needed. During the sale they kept up upto date and informed at all time … we were really happy with the service. We dealt mainly with Mandy and she was excellent.
If we were to move again we would not hesitate to use them again nor to recommend there services.

TrustpilotAvoid This Estate Agent: A Disastrous Encounter
My wife and I used Dowen Estate Agents as we were initially very impressed with the manager who came out to give us a quote and what her organisation could offer us. We therefore decided to go with them to sell our home.
This however was a huge mistake. During a period of 6.5 weeks the interaction between the staff and myself was nearly non-existent, and it was very difficult for us to know why we were getting absolutely nowhere in selling our home. There had been one viewing booked during this period but this was cancelled one day prior to the viewing and although I requested feedback on why this happened, received no response.
I challenged the manager in her office about the little progress being made and she stated that she was not aware that there had been little or no contact between her staff and myself, which clearly indicates that she has no idea how to manage her staff. Her other response was that there are 2 reasons a home does not sell, the price and location. I responded that it was their own valuation of our home that we were selling at and the write up on the various online websites advertising our home stated that the location was in a wonderful position for local amenities and schools.
I eventually terminated our contract with them and would 100% NOT recommend anyone using this organisation to sell their home.
