From January 2018 to February 2019, my wife and I rented a older style, three bedroom, renovated apartment property in West Dundee via Dundee's Northwood Ltd. real estate agency. With various experiences between both of us with living and renting places in the UK and Australia, I'd have to say that Northwood was absolutely stellar in managing and caring for us as their rental clients. Practical, professional, ethical and straightforwards in their approach, we always felt looked after. Any required maintenance on the property we lived in was equally well attended to and done to a pretty high standard via a simple to use, initial online log-in service, then with good amounts of follow up. Well done Northwood Dundee, to the agency's representatives that we dealt with over 2018/2019, on both top quality service, agency/renter communication and general property upkeep. We recently put a property on the market with Northwood and Audrey from the Dundee branch has been absolutely fantastic throughout this process. From the very beginning, she was very transparent regarding fees and services, extremely quick to respond to all our queries and give advice, always kept us up to date on viewings and also handled all the viewings on our behalf which made things very easy for us. We cannot express how much we have appreciated all her help with the sale and we would highly recommend her services, and Northwood as a whole, to anyone looking to sell a property.

Do not use this agency!!! My husband and I have received appalling service from Northwood Dundee and when trying to cancel our contract with them, because we can no longer trust them to carry out the job in which we pay them to do, they have a very unfair clause in our contract which stipulates we cannot break the agreement until the current tenancy is over. They also have another clause in the contract which stipulates we cannot provide the current tenant which they have found for us with a new tenancy agreement during the first 6 months after their end of tenancy date. This leaves us in a very difficult position because it is forcing us to end a tenancy with our current Tenant (who is due to have a baby next month) in July and find new Tenants. We are not looking to cancel the contract because we no longer want to pay them for their service; we are looking to cancel on the grounds that they are not providing us with the service in which we are paying them for. Our rent payments are always received about a week late and after several attempts to contact the agency I am given the reply that they '

Northwood Dundee is probably the best letting agents. It has a lot of great features, friendly staff, proper letting procedures. Having in contact with almost all agencies in Dundee for the past decade there are no other agencies comes closer to the Northwood standard. Friendly and experienced staff; easy, professional and transparent services are what you can expect from Northwood Dundee. You can see what you are getting, with proper documentation and support. Unlike many letting agents try to sell or rent their properties Northwood is an exception in their ethical conduct and professional approach, and you can feel safe in their hands. Trying to navigate the current housing market is difficult as a buyer, let alone as a seller. Audrey has been nothing short of outstanding in terms of her communication, support, and professionalism. My home was listed on Tuesday, I left to travel abroad on Wednesday and Audrey did the rest. By Thursday I'd had my 1st offer and less than 1 week later, my property was sold. Very pleased with how the marketing of our old home was handled - excellent photos and all-round service, house went on the market on the Friday and was sold on the Monday! Audrey was our main point of contact and was very friendly and helpful, as were other staff we interacted with. Have docked one star however because we were not pleased with the solicitor (YourConveyancer) who Northwood recommended we use, who made the whole experience more stressful.

My wife and I started to use Northwood nine years ago to market and manage our two bedroom flat in the West End of Dundee. The property was part of a former Mill Owner's house with large gardens, which had been divided into four flats many years ago. At the time we thought it required a well known agent with the ability to attract the right tenants and manage the property carefully, especially as the other flats were permanently occupied by their owners. From the start, the staff at Northwood have done an excellent job in achieving what we wanted. There was a particular occasion when a lot of work was required to be undertaken and Northwood worked with ourselves and the tenant to allow this to be done smoothly and competently. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. We have recommended Northwood to friends in the south of England and they too have been very happy with the service they received. We would be very happy to recommend Northwood to anyone requiring an agent to handle their property rental.

PLEASE AVOID THIS LETTING AGENT-If you see Sean Lewis Properties as your landlord through them run a mile, he has been taken to court a few times over breaching tenants rights. The regional manager is the sister of Sean Lewis and pretends that she has no way to contact him...odd you can't contact your own brother??? If I could rate lower than one star I would, where to start. We rented a property for three years with belvoir and it was a constant fight with them the whole time. I suffer with severe asthma and it was made clear from the start but the flat was mouldy, they lied about the windows being double glazed, they left us without a working boiler for 6 months in the winter because the landlord refused to pay for it and the window was leaking for the entire three years despite asking for it to be repaired. It wasn't just an issue with our flat but the entire building and it was the same scenario every time. We would submit a repair request, they would sent someone out (eventually) and they would receive a quote which the landlord would promptly ignore. The attitude of the staff was appalling they're completely heartless and condescending, they couldn't care less that you are living in a freezing, mouldly flat, and since there is a housing crisis they know full well nothing will be done about it so they carry on as they make money off your misery. To top it all off they kept our deposit way past the legal allowance and I doubt they bothered to even inspect the property but I know for sure we left it in a better state than we got it. Good luck if you go with them, they'll be nice as pie till they get you in and then you're ignored.

There have never been any issues when I have had to contact them for any reason, whether by email or phonecalls - I've always been able to reach them which makes your time in their care feel that extra bit special. With other tenant agencies I've always ran into problems and I never had confidence in being helped in any way but with Northwood Dundee all the staff have been exceptional in always being attentive and competent in their job. Staff members stay with you through any issues so it'll always be only one member handling you through email chains which helps keep everything efficient & the correspondence always remains friendly and pleasant whilst remaining professional. I honestly have had such a great experience with the staff at Northwood Dundee that I'm so grateful for their time & appreciate whenever they've helped me out. During my time with them they've also updated their maintenance log system so you can now do this online so the job is officially logged and booked for repair and the system is accessible 24/7 for peace of mind. To finish off, the reason why I left was simply relocation to a new city but I would be happy to move into a property managed by Northwood - especially the Dundee branch. Northwood overall have been brilliant but their rating has been reduced due to the ending of the agreement prior to moving out :( To start with they want to start letting people see 2 months before you move out, the potential to cause you a lot of hassles over the last 2 months! However, I understand why. We ensured the house was clean and presentable and continued to do so and they never even told us they had it re rented out? We were still putting off appointments and arrangements and they never even told us they did not need back in! Very annoying indeed, especially when I work offshore and my time at home is limited and was seriously restricted for an additional week that it need not have been!! Then, we moved out and I have asked twice now about the refund on my deposit, the holding company for the deposit never got any reply, nor did I to 2 x emails? Almost as if, thanks for your cash, you are moving on, to hell with you. Wendy in the office is a busy lady and a joy to do business with. Very helpful. Like I say though, the end of the rental period and you let yourselves down a bit otherwise you would have a 100% rating from me. I think a lot of the let down anybody experiences via Northwood is not as a result of Northwood but the owners of the property in some instances. It will obviously vary from place to place but I know in Dundee they are a good letting agent and worthwhile considering.

Held my deposit for 9 months after we moved out due to "cooker cleaning" and "damage" that wasn't explained. I refuted this and was ignored for 7 months, until I eventually threatened with legal and a campaign with Living Rent (Please join if you are a tenant to fight these **).
