GoogleMy flatmate and I rented a flat in Croydon managed by Cubitt and West / Arun Estate Agencies limited - someone named Lindsay and sometimes her colleague Simon. It was by far one of the most horrific experiences in our renting history. We will never want anything to do with this company ever again, and advise everyone else to do the same. Some of the experiences we had to deal with: 1) Upon our arrival, we found dust everywhere, and BLACK MOULD growing inside the washing machine and laundry room. They had clearly not done a professional clean upon arrival, though this was stipulated in the contract. Their response? That we did no ask for a professional clean on our arrival. 2) Incredibly slow response times - it would take Lindsay days (if not weeks) to send over a simple response to our queries. She would also hardly ever respond to our phone calls too. Getting repairs on things took weeks, if not months (like our stove which had a huge crack on the glass). The balcony upon our arrival was riddled with bird droppings - something they never resolved until the day we left. 3) The water heater broke multiple times. And given how slow Cubitt & West was, we went many days without hot water in the dead of winter. 4) Throughout this whole process, we communicated our complaints clearly, and provided photographic evidence that the property was not up to standard. But enough was enough, and we decided to leave. When we returned the property back, Cubitt & West had the gall to say that we did not manage or clean the property after we left. This dragged on for THREE months. Not able to come to an agreement, we escalated the difference to TDS to officially adjudicate and arbitrate the conflict. Thankfully, TDS has come back ruling the case in our favour, and we are so happy to finally be free from this company.

Cubitt and West were great for us. They achieved far more for the sale of our home than we expected and Julie in particular was very helpful with communication up and down the chain as we moved towards exchange. They were also very good indeed for our son when he moved.
