As a landlord I have been with Whitegates Coventry for 8 years. During that time I have been provided with impeccable service from a well managed team both for letting and for purchasing. Living away from the area I have peace of mind in the knowledge that any issues with my portfolio are dealt with expeditiously while keeping me well informed. I would, and have, recommended David and his team without reservation. Thank you, and may our excellent working relationship long continue.

I truly not recommend, whitegates are very unfair in giving deposit back and charging things unnecessarily. I don’t have much to say but please don’t go in this scam.

You left the property in an awful state and have the audacity to leave us a poor review. You could have chose to raise a dispute with the TDS as they are independent adjudicators but you chose not to. I suspect you knew how poorly you left the property.

I recently sold my house with white gates. It was on the market for 1 year and no estate agent could get me a potential buyer. But thanks to Whitegates. Particularly John has been very helpful and found me a buyer and closed the deal. John would always reply to emails and calls. He was always positive and friendly. He helped me understand a lot of legal terms. Very thankful to John.

Cannot recommend Whitegates enough, they have been fantastic at finding me great tenants every time I have had a vacant property. Nic and the team keep me up to date with all aspects of the search. Very impressed at the speed of finding the tenant, in most cases the properties have only been available for a few days before multiple credible applications have been submitted. Great work guy, many thanks :-)

Edited* There you go! Exactly what I expected. One useful tip, student be safe, you can look at other reviews and make yourself a good choice. Wish you luck. Unfortunately I can't give no stars. If I need to say everything it would take tons of space, so I'm leaving that bit. So here it comes " IF YOU ARE A STUDENT PLEASE I BEG NOT TO GO THROUGH WHITEGATES", trust me and you'll be happy. I know whitegates are going to come at me with a vague reply, btw it was (29hearsall lane-2018-19). In one way, it was an absolute pleasure to know how terrible a service can get and a wonderful opportunity for me to learn how to avoid these situations. Hi Deepak I'm sorry that you have chosen to leave a negative review and I could bemoan that you have left a vague review without detail, but I am not going to and instead I am going to leave a detailed response. I could suggest that the review is unfair because we were patient with you when we had to chase late rental payments or how unfair it is because we helped you when your lost keys. No, the reason why your review is negative is because you were charged by the landlord for the poor condition that you left the property in and you and your housemates could not agree a coordinated response. I have published the report describing how the property was surrendered in order to provide some balance to your review and if anyone reading this, student or non student intends to conduct themselves in a similar way to Deepak and his pals, then perhaps Whitegates would respectfully suggest you follow Deepak's advice. The property has been surrendered in very poor order and requires extensive cleaning throughout. The gardens are overgrown. Various parts of the house are subject to damage and wear. Cleaning: clean all floor areas including carpets. Clean all woodwork and gloss work. Wipe socket points and window frames. Remove dust and cobwebs at high-level. Clean all sanitary areas. Clean appliances and kitchen cupboards/tiling/worktops. Clean furniture surface areas where necessary. Clean doors. Additional matters: lots of marks and wear to the decoration throughout. The desk unit in the front room downstairs is damaged. Fairy lights have been left wrapped around the bedframe in the ground floor room. An item has been left hanging from the light fitting in the rear reception room. Loose rubbish and packaging left in the under stairs store. The upholstered sofa in the in the rear reception room is exceptionally marked and stained and should be thrown out. The rug is exceptionally stained. Rubbish left behind in and around the kitchen cupboards. One of the shelves in the low-level kitchen cupboards is damaged. The tenant has blocked the vent in the kitchen. The external lining to the kitchen cupboard doors is peeling in places. The kitchen flooring is subject to water penetration beneath the lino. The bathroom wall and ceiling paint is peeling very badly. The seal and grout in the bathroom is badly stained. Loose rubbish in the bathroom cabinet. The lightbulb is not working in the front bedroom. The mattresses in the bedrooms are both in a poor state and some pillows have been left behind. Loose rubbish in the over stairs cupboard. Tape, post-it notes and Blu-Tack have been left on the wall in the rear bedroom. The curtains have been pulled down in the rear bedroom. The mattress cover in the rear bedroom is missing. The tenant has left a fan behind in the rear bedroom. The tenant has left rubbish and garments in the garden.

I've just sold my first flat in Coventry city centre after 9 years of ownership. For 8 of those years the flat has been rented out with Whitegates and they've provided an excellent service. John Madden and the team have been first rate with their communication, their location and value for money. I thoroughly recommend using Whitegates for all your residential lettings and sales. Thanks again!

Went to view a property, received a call the following day asking if I'm interested in the property. I wasn't interested in that particular property but I was interested in viewing others... before I could tell him about my serious interest in other properties he cut the call off. I'd steer clear if I was you, they don't seem too interested in making the customer happy. Edit:- I've just seen the comments left below. Think to yourselves when renting; - would a reputable company leave such comments?

Kay Β· 19 March 2020

What Kay Dee fails to mention is his original call where my colleague patiently went through different properties with him and isolated the property that he eventually viewed. He also failed to mention the appointment itself where he described the conduct of the employee who showed him round as 'spot on'. I called Kay Dee and tried to explain that during the short call, my colleague could barely hear him and established that there were areas of his experience that were positive. However, Kay Dee was not interested in altering his comments. Kay Dee clearly enjoyed the power and he has no concept of how making such unreasonable reviews can affect business owners. He is typical of the type of keyboard warrior who can make anonymous and unfounded statements online without consequences. He sounded extremely surprised when I called him, having worked out that Kay Dee represented his initials. Hopefully, one day, Kay Dee will overcome his inadequacy and develop the kind of lateral thought processes that may enable him to consider consequences and more rounded judgement before slandering a business. Kay Dee is a serial reviewer and I hope that these comments make him more considered when he decides to make future public statements about small businesses. For the record there were not alternative property options available to him.

Initially used Whitegates to manage a property I was renting out. Tenants were sought promptly meaning I didn't miss out on rental payments for the 10 years I did this. Subsequently used Whitegates to sell the property too. I always found the staff on both the lettings and sales teams to be helpful and courteous, and always willing to provide help and support when needed.

It’s not very often I do these things but when you have amazing service somewhere, I think others should know about it. I started using Whitegates in Coventry in about 2002 when, as a landlord, I used them for finding a tenant for my rental property. The flat hasn’t been empty once (it’s now May 2018) with Whitegates finding me suitable tenants in all this time (I’ve had about 6 - 8 different tenants in that time) so as a tenant finding service, they cannot be faulted. More recently, I’ve had to put my flat up for sale to release some money and again, the service I’ve had from them has been second to none. I’ve dealt primarily with Richard and John who have been absolute superstars. They’ve phoned me when they said they would, gave me regular updates and have kept me informed with any and every step of the process. They worked damned hard in getting my property sold and I can’t thank them enough. Would not hesitate to use again or recommend to anyone. Thank you Whitegates!

Terrible agency. 1 star is too many for them. I am a landlord in the Southwest and thus have some experience with agents from both sides as it were. My wife and I were living in Coventry for 18 months and hence renting. Everything with Whitegates was too much trouble. Everything came with an administration charge. The check-in and check-out documentation was inaccurate. Ultimately Whitegates with discourteous and very much gave the impression that they didn't like tenants. Avoid if you can.

Ian Β· 20 March 2018

Agent replied

Sorry Ian, I believe your review is totally vindictive. You are unhappy because you were charged for carpet cleaning. You vented your argument at the time, but decided not to follow the correct dispute process, because the deductions were correct based on the evidence. I don't doubt you would of have disputed the matter had you had a reasonable argument and the check in and check out documentation was accurate. I'm sorry if you felt that we did not deal with you enthusiastically. Our fees are competitive and you were notified of our charges in writing.
