Ever since I moved in the shower has been leaky and grows mold on the pipe every other day or so and has to be cleaned regulary. I told them about this 3 months ago and they said they would look into it. The other day I received a letter about an inspection that took place while I was at work saying the shower was unacceptable. They must of completely forgot about my complaint or they just never actually took it seriously since they are now complaining to me about something I complained to them about months ago.

I wish, I could have given 0 stars, the staff has no manners, especially this one woman who called yesterday saying that they would inspect my house without me being there, when they know I work during the week and I can only attend appointments on the weekend, they ignored it and yet she was so rude over the phone. Seriously I wish I had recorded the call so I could sue the poor costumer service and the way she said she didn't care if I was or not in my house while this inspection was being done, so bloody abusive and then she comes up saying 'We don't know what you're doing with the house or if you're growing weed' seriously?, she left me speechless with the stupidity of her comment when I had already agreed to have an inspection but with me being there I'm not willing to allow a random person to walk in the place I live in while I'm not there, that's rather abusive. ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS.

Would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Castles especially Pereen for ensuring my first letting experience as a student was a positive one, I appreciate it.

As you can see, all reviews are one star or five. I’m sure that all the five stars belong to their personal accounts. All the one star review are the right and honest ones from their customers. I urge everyone not to go to this agent. Deserves less than one star. They showed me some pictures for a flat in the new building (Navigation House) and they promised that it is at the first floor. Then, they asked me to pay the deposit, as they claimed that if it’s not paid this flat may go in the same day. In addition, they said that the viewing is not available. After paying the required amount, they arranged a viewing in the next week (with my urge request). When I went to see the flat, they realized that it was a ground floor. Finally, they refused to pay back the deposit because of their mistakes. After long negotiations, they paid back half of the amount and kept the other, although it’s not their right to decide on that. Very bad agent with very bad services.

A disgusting, morally unethical, corrupt and totally apathetic company. They rely entirely on students being too busy to contest their ridiculous fees and to fight for their deposits. We moved out in July 2016. We spent the whole day ensuring the house was spotless in order to retain our deposits (£3750!). It is now December and they are still refusing to offer any explanation as to why it has been withheld. It is a family run business with no formal complaints procedure whatsoever. Indeed the very people you are complaining about are the ones who deal with your complaint. Beyond their money-grabbing mentality with regards to the students, they are astonishingly rude and aggressive; they shout over you and belittle you in person, and choose to ignore your emails whenever convenient. I could write a novel on how appalled I am with the (dis)service provided by Castles, but for the sake of this review I implore you, please, avoid them like the plague. P.s. 8 likes for every positive review. Coincidence?

Would not recommend this estate agents to anybody. Staff can be very rude and aggressive, they talk over you and do not deal with complaints to a satisfactory standard. Charges are ridiculous and cannot be argued and imaginary telephone conversations are quoted where you have supposedly been told and agreed vital information. I had never been given cause to bad mouth estate agents until using these, I will never use them again and dissuade anyone from doing so!

Scammers! If I could rate the 0 stars I would as the 1 is certainly not deserved. I moved out in July and still don't have my deposit back, not do any of my housemates. They would not reply to our emails or calls nor give us a legitamit reason as to why they could not give them to us. We went through a dispute with my deposits and they were just as useless. Only going to be get a small amount of my deposit back. I left he house very clean and tidy yet Castles are claiming a ridiculously high amount from our deposits for cleaning and charging us for things that were not damaged or broken but they claim them to be. I even had water pouring through my ceiling at one point and could not sleep in my room for several days, yet they did nothing but seal the shower in the above bathroom that was causing the problem. My room was completely ignored. Although they may seem nice in the beginning they have scammed us completely and I don't believe that we are the only ones. I urge anyone to avoid dealing with them and look elsewhere

I would advise any future tenant to avoid Castles as much as possible. I have rented through them for over a year and the service is just as appalling as their manners. Any repairs of sort has taken me anything between 4 and 10 weeks. Contractors working for them were often explaining to me on the phone that I was the last of their priority as Castle hasn’t paid them in months. Inspections are forceful and there is no flexibility to rearrange to a suitable time. Finally when it comes at moving out they have tried anything to retain my full deposit with no reason so that I had to resort to arbitration to get the most of it back. For me, this is without any doubt the worst agency I have dealt with in the UK so far.

Never received dispute numerous chasing payment from student manager or contractor (only one)for payment made on behalf of landlord (company owner) to enable same day repairs to allow students to move into an unready house - my good will to resolve a situation has been taken advantage of - this and many other reasons supports my decision to resign last year and I would agree with many of the other negative comments and reviews based on my working experience and the subsequent resignations of other members of the letting team further more leads me to believe I made the right decision.

Honestly guys the only reason why they have one star is because I can't give them 0. PLEASE AVOID THESE PEOPLE AT ALL COSTS. They will take you on a viewing to see nice houses make u make a non refundable deposit and summer retainer only for u to not get the house u want. I'm not alone in this practically everyone I know has a problem with them. If there is a fault in the house they take ages to get back to you and it might never be fixed. We had a hole in our ceiling in the kitchen which would leak with water every time someone showered and for months we told these ppl but they basically fobbed us off. No one is ever available to return to your emails/calls or they will tell you someone else from their team will get back to you but they are all as useless as each other from the manager right down to the agents. PLEASE SAVE TIME , MONEY AND SANITY and go somewhere else it is not worth it. I WISH I HAD READ THE REVEIWS ON HERE BEFORE I WALKED INTO THAT GOD FORBIDDEN PLACE.

This company is a stereotypical example of a money-grabbing lettings agency taking advantage of students inexperience in the property market. It has been about 5 months since we moved out of one of their houses and we have had no contact regarding our deposit, not even anything regarding a date. The only way we managed to even get them to acknowledge the existence of our deposit is when we wrote a formal complaint to them en masse (there were 10 of us in the house). While we lived with them, they were terrible, they promised a professionally cleaned house, when we got there it's as if they waved a broom at it, not cleaned it. I think we left that house in a better state than when we moved in. When it came to maintenance visits and property viewings, they were erratic and never told us when they were coming, they also viewed the house for people when no one was present or aware of the viewing. On the whole the staff are very nice, with the major exception of one who I feel was never very professional at all (their name begins with 'p' if you've dealt or are dealing with them, take a wild stabbing guess at who i'm referring too, it shouldn't be hard), they're just poorly managed. In conclusion, I don't know why I didn't write this sooner, I would never look for a property through them again, I would never suggest them to people, I would sooner suggest squatting than dealing with them. In regards to our deposit as well, they never gave us a deposit scheme number, so we can't go to the property ombudsmen to get our deposits back. In short, they suck.

AVOID THIS AGENT AT ALL COSTS - LANDLORDS I Had a property with this agency many years but the recent service I have received is borderline disgraceful , phone calls are never returned , owners of the business are always in meetings , I was in their office today and was told no one in management was available to speak to for at least a week !!! They withhold client money for bills that they have not invoiced me for ....... The staff are about as competent as a chocolate teapot , AVOID AT ALL COSTS AND ONLY USE AN ARLA REGISTERED AGENT WHICH CASTLES ARE NOT.

I would not even rate this company a 1 star this is the worst letting agency i have been to. As a student on placement i arrived to the office at 4.30pm for my appointment only to be assisted 45 minutes later for house viewings. After this they tried to make me and my friend rush into putting a deposit down for a 3 bed house straight after seeing it without giving us time to think or answer our questions properly, as we were excited and naive students who had said yes without even thinking. They only accepted cash payment which worked on their behalf and made us take out £250, the maximum you can take out on card. When filling out the form we had our concerns which was seen very clearly by Pereen but she said she would take our money and put it somewhere, little to be known that as she took this money it became unrefundable but we was not aware of this. Only to be told after with a receipt that if we were to come back the next day the deposit would become unrefundable. So me and my friend went for a private talk and decided that we needed more time to think about our decision as there would be so much payments before we moved in the house (£860) and there was no real explanation as to why. So we came to deliver the news to Pereen who told us that it was too late and our money had been taken away and it was now unrefundable. In the space of time during our decision process our money had been taken without no warning. To add further insult her sister came out and shouted at us like small children and said that we were taking the 'mick' as we had been debating for so many hours that had gone past their working hours. 1. No one had forced you to do our papers after working hours. 2. I do not feel the need to know about me stopping you from completing your personal life duties. 3. I did not know there was a timescale on how fast a decision should be made to pick a property. As responsible students we tried to plead with the two sisters only to be slammed and shut down and told to come back tommorrow to speak to the boss, even though we had travelled all the way from london. Next day I tried to call the office from 11 am to be told that the main people are out of office and they will give me a call back. I called a further 4 times only to be responded to 24 hours later(after the situaition) at 6.30 pm. I then spoke to a man called John who told me that I would not be getting my money back as he has been on many drop in meetings with preena and he believed she wouldnt ever leave out any crucial information. Without taking into consideration all of what i said to him, it sounded like he wasnt bothered and he had already made his mind up without investigating the matter. I wasn't suprised because of course he would be biased and side with a fellow employee. If only I looked at the reviews to see how horrible this company was i would have never considered them but I was desperate to find a house for 3rd year. Students there is a reason why they have a large amount of remaining houses left on websites such as rightmove, they are unprofessional money grabbing workers and not interested in you guys as students. I plan to take legal action with my friend if anyone else has been through what we have with deposits please feel free to contact me. Please guys as a fellow coventry student I WARN you to stay away even if it is a last resort.

Great letting agent. We rented a property through Castles for 2.5 years but recently moved out due to relocation with work. We never met our landlord but the move in process was smooth and any maintenance issues were responded to in a timely manner through Castles. We looked after the property and this was noted when it came to returning our deposit. Thanks for your service and for the smooth move in and move out process.

It's been almost four months since our tennacy ended but there has been no word from them regarding our deposits, any attempt to contact them via phone gets you put through to a crude fella who has no empathy for your situation and will say that all his colleagues are busy and that he will email them without giving you a time scale of when they will get back to you. Save yourselves a months rent and find another estate agent. Realistically they are taking the piss and they don't seem to care. Appalled by their service. n.b. their houses arent great and you will most likely find damp hidden or strategically covered like I had in my room.

This is the worst estate agents I have ever dealt with. I live in a property managed by them. I only wish the actual landlord knew how bad they are. The staff are rude on the phone when you call to report an issue. I am forever leaving messages for them to call back, but they never do. Anyone looking to go with them please heed my advice and avoid. I cannot wait until the lease ends.

As a landlord for 12 years, there has only been one Agent that shines above all the others. They care and are passionate about their family business and work harder to achieve the best results for all parties. I recommend them as number ONE in Coventry for lettings. Give them a call and find out why I rate them so highly. Great staff, and a warm friendly welcome awaits you. Mr Walter

Not the easiest time I've ever had with estate agents. Mostly to do with the very inefficient communications between the landlord and tenant through the agency. There are aspects that are not directly the agencies fault and they do try (for a price), but you are on the receiving end none-the-less. You do need to be on the ball as a tenant, but besides that. You can probably manage.

I don't know why so many people hate them but from our experiences they are quite good. When something is broken in the house, like the stove or the hitter, we just write them an email they'll arrange the fixing within the next 1-3 days. The most important thing is that after a thorough cleaning, we did get 85% of our deposit back. So in general, we are quite satisfied with them.
