Our house sale proved to be a far longer journey than anticipated, taking almost two years from initial listing to completion. During that time we worked with various agents, but ultimately returned to Reeds Rains, a decision that led to a successful outcome. Throughout the process, the service provided was consistently professional and reassuring. Our main point of contact, Deb, was exceptional. Her communication was clear and timely, she provided well-considered advice, and she demonstrated real commitment in progressing the sale, particularly at more challenging stages. If we could give more than five stars we would. Over a year ago I posted the following: "We are currently in the process of buying a property in Durham City through Reeds Rains. Throughout the process they have all been super professional. We have been kept informed along the way, from Jen showing us the property (twice), the awesome Deb and her colleagues in the office during the offer phase, to Tony throughout the process. Tony has been a source of guidance, much appreciated." Unfortunately a legal issue intervened outside the control of ourselves and Reeds Rains. However, Deb and Neil at Reeds Rains continued to be so professional even in the face of very poor solicitors (ours was great, Catherine at Freeman Johnson in Durham) until our purchase was completed after many months. Saw a house being sold by Reeds Rains, sent 2 messages via Rightmove and then an email directly. None were responded to. After a few days, decided to ring them to try & arrange a viewing. Managed to arrange the viewing. But had no explanation or apology for the lack of response. Went to the viewing, received no follow up or a request for feedback. I was just grateful we hadn't chosen them to sell our house!

Horrendous!

The response to my initial review (posted on 28th November, below) is as unsatisfactory as the service. Whatever the company claim now, I can evidence all of the concerns I listed. Further, almost three weeks after the moving date, problems persist. The fridge and freezer were not working and the tenant lost £130 of food. He is still without a working oven and has no access to the electric meter to obtain an initial reading. The latter is especially concerning because the hot water tank heats up constantly and then drains itself: imagine how much this is costing! Various items are broken (door handles, toilet seat) and there is black mould around the windows, very unhealthy. The tenant is facing Christmas with a microwave meal. How unacceptable is this! Happy Christmas, ReedsRains., , , , , -Dealing with this company has been a nightmare, for myself and the tenant for whom I acted as guarantor. Annabel Gilbey was the nominated negotiator but emails and phone calls to her went unanswered. On one occasion, the tenant drove several hundred miles for a viewing, leaving home at 5am but no-one turned up. A phone call would have been helpful. Sending a text when the negotiator knew he was travelling was not. We were sent repeated requests for information, money and urgent legal confirmations - none of which were necessary had the negotiatior or her colleagues acted professionally. The Branch Manager Justin Barton must bear the greatest responsibility for this. My concerns can be evidenced if this is necessary.

salford quays barance were the worst letting agents we have been unfortunate enough to have dealings with, if you can avoid them I suggest that you do. the move in inventory was a work of fiction with not a single fault or damage mentioned and the flat was filthy with numerous items of damage and disrepair that they are now trying to claim from us after moving out and leaving the place in better condition that we moved in Jessica was so tardy at arranging repairs that we gave up. never again would we deal with these people

Don’t touch with a barge pole!!

Truly awful experience…so unprofessional. Total lack of communication. On completion day, went to drop keys in and office was all locked up! We had been in a few days before to make sure of arrangements and were told there would be someone in their office at all times on completion day. Eventually Luke arrived - he had been for lunch, but there was no-one to cover…unbelievable on a Friday, the most popular day of the week for moving house. Whoever is the manager in Chester needs to realise that we are paying good money for a service, when it shouldn’t be unreasonable to expect someone to actually be on the premises to receive keys from their customers. It gets worse…our buyer went later to collect the keys and the shop was locked up again! It’s 5:30pm now and they still haven’t been able to get the keys. No phone calls to either ourselves or our buyers before hand to explain what was going on - we had to do all the chasing to find out why we were being let down. Begs the question ‘what are we paying for?’ Please avoid this Estate Agent.
