Our property sale using Mov8 was back in June last year, but recently tried to offer on a house through them and was reminded of the poor service levels received. We had a lot of initial interest from buyers which we expected, but they all seemed to fizzle out without being able to be spoken to. When I tried to contact them, my nominated person was never available, I’d be told she’d ring me once she’d finish her call, 4,5 or 6 hours would go by. If I happen to miss the call, even ringing back a few minutes later would mean it is another long wait for the call back again. Days go by trying to communicate for such simple things. There were so many things I could complain about with them, but ultimately I blame myself for going with the cheapest, they cost me at least 10k on the sale price. Trying to offer is the same, takes 2 days to hear that someone else has offered higher so it’s a no. They don’t even let you know it’s being considered. I assumed it had been rejected and I had been forgotten about so moved on to other houses. They’re essentially a call centre. Their reason for not calling back during the day was that they’re speaking to solicitors etc who are only available during the day. They have a nasty habit of calling a few minutes before closing, so if you miss it they’re closed when you ring back, and do another day passes. I could go on and on.......

Really impressed with the whole service from start to finish, Kevin managed to market and succesfullly sell my property despite my constant neurotic phone calls, he guided me through the whole sales process with a steady hand and when I was flapping (as I am proned to do) he reassured me and we (well he) achieved a better price for my property than I set out wishing to achieve. From the moment that I first met Ross for the valuation of my property I was impressed if not a bit sceptical of his keen and enthusiastic approach, it seemed almost too good to be true but when Kevin then took over and dealt with the sale of my flat, he was confident he could achieve the price I wanted, which he exceeded by the way, it could not have been easier, I (well Kevin and his team) managed to market and sell my property whilst I was in another country. As selling agents, Mov8 were brilliant. They got our house on the market quickly, the schedule and web listings were all to a high quality. At one point I had queried something that should have been on the Zoopla listing but wasn't, and they chased it doggedly with Zoopla until it appeared correctly, keeping me updated the whole way. We sold our house in 3 weeks. Unfortunately, that's where our positive experiences ended - as soon as Mov8 handed us over to their recommended partner solicitors, McVey Murricane, everything became a challenge. We made the mistake of using these solicitors as our conveyancors for selling and buying, and for me, It felt like I had to chase them every step of the way, and they were very difficult to get on the phone. Right up until moving day, they seemed to drag their heels - at one point, a week prior to the planned completion date for the sale and purchase, the solicitor dealing with us actually asked me to remind her what day we were moving on! Missives didn't conclude on our purchased property until the same day of purchase, and they didn't even tell us that the sale had concluded, just texted me to tell me to go drop off the keys for our old house. I had to hassle them by email on the day of conclusion (as their phone lines were all ringing out) to find out if the keys for our new place were ready, and although they eventually said they were, when I got to the Mov8 office to pick up the keys (the seller was using them too!) the staff in the office were very apologetic but informed me that Mcvey Murricane hadn't yet sent the note to release the keys. So we had to wait around for about 25 mins while the poor girls in the Mov8 office tried to call through to Mcvey Murricane to get the keys released. Look, I can only describe my experiences of Mov8's partner solicitors. YMMV. Mov8 were great - I couldn't recommend them enough. But don't feel like you have to use their conveyancing solicitors - if we knew then what we know now, we'd have shopped around a bit for a solicitor who suited our communication style better (ie we like communication!) Moving Day is too stressful to have to put up with the additional worry of not knowing whether a sale is going to conclude or not. Don't get me wrong, McVey Murricane did manage to conclude the sale and purchase in the end, but it felt like a hard slog. I've thought long and hard about whether to write this review - it's been over two months since Mov8 found a buyer for our old property, and a month since we moved in here. I'm very much in the "if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it at all" camp, but if we had seen more cautionary stories about choosing the right solicitor, we might have done things differently. My four-star rating for Mov8 would have been a five-star had they not recommended that we use McVey Murricane.

I met a few different estate agents and what attracted me to Mov8 was the simplicity of them offering an all-in fixed price service, rather than getting a percentage of the sale of the property. They seem to be one of the only estate agents who do this, and I think it is an interesting way forward. They were also able to keep this all-in price very low. It is a new approach to the industry, rather than sticking to the established norms. Mov8 were always curteous and polite on the phone, I never had to wait to speak to anyone, and they spoke like normal people rather than salesmen. I also did not feel pressured. When they came round to do the initial meeting, they didn’t chase after me or do the hard sell. The same cannot be said of other estate agents. Again this could be down to them offering their service as a fixed price rather than a percentage of sale. The property brochures that Mov8 produce are clear and to the point. During the sale of the property, Mov8 were also able to sort out a couple of things for me, even though it was not a requirement of the contract. But it is those little things that often count. Where there were issues, as there always are with selling a property, Mov8 did what they could to resolve these. We had lots and lots of interest from buyers, and many viewings, which was nice, though we didn’t get a firm offer until we dropped the price a bit. I think maybe the valuation was a little high. In the end though we were happy with the offer we got, and the sale went through fine. They say buying/selling property can be one of the most stressful experiences that a person can have, but Mov8 helped make things relatively easy and painless. Thanks Anthony

Our property was sold at a good price within 2 weeks of going onto the ESPC which in this market is no mean feat. Costs were exactly as implied without hidden catches and when there was an issue over the photos due to them being taken in incredibly poor light during stormy weather we were able to quickly work to a resolution.

Mov8 were exceptional. James did a fantastic job negotiating with the vendor agents and Robin did a fantastic job finding a suitable mortgage (with a number of complicating factors thrown in). Both were extremely professional and kept us very well informed. Always got the sense that both were doing their utmost on our behalf. Would highly recommend using Mov8. You should be aware that the legal aspect to conveyancing (which Mov8 pass to McVey & Murricane) is quite hands off and can be quiet at times but for the fee, represents good value for money and actually the fact that communication during that part was dealt with via email alone suited us well. The sale went without hitch. Really pleased.

We have just recently had the experience of dealing with them through our lawyer as a buyer. Due to not checking very important details from the beginning that only a lawyer would be aware of, we were left severely out of pocket, time off work lost, contractors prepared to do work cancelled, calling storage units last minute, this all just two days before our moving date and caring for a newborn baby. They are so unprofessional and have not taken any responsibility for what they have done to us financially and the stress. Please avoid them and yopa who recommend them.NegativeProfessionalism
