Me and my partner decided at the end of 2020 to finally move out of our parents houses and into our first home, Martin & Co could not have made it any easier to do! The process of referencing and organising all the relevant documents was a breeze and their consistent communication throughout was second to none. The week leading up to the moving day, again, they ensured we had everything we needed. Come moving day and further forward we had a smooth transition and was given all the information and detail to begin living in our first home. I would thoroughly recommend this agency to anyone looking to move or even rent their property through. Amazing service, thank you guys!

Martin & Co has always gone above and beyond to offer an extremely professional service. Alex Child has always worked with the highest levels of integrity. Alex has excellent communication skills and his knowledge of the market is brilliant. From background checks to contracts, Alex makes the process extremely efficient and easy for me as a landlord. Martin & Co are also really helpful when unexpected problems arise (such as a gas safety certificate being out of date) and recommended excellent tradesmen who deal with issues quickly and efficiently at competitive prices. We have been with Martin and Co for almost 7 years and they were amazing for the first 4-5, but the last couple of years (after a change in employees) we have seen a decline in customer service. Our last tenancy from 2020 to 2021 took 6 months to get sorted (when all it needed were a couple of words changing). Last month we had a bath leak and it took them a few days to send someone out to fix it. I sent the branch a long email about my disappointment in the service and this went ignored. This past week our boiler has broken and it has taken them (after daily chasing by phone) 6 days to get in touch with a contractor to actually fix it, who had to order a part and won’t be able to fix it for another 3-4 days. We have no hot water or heating, and won’t have done for up to 10 days, which are required by law. Our usual contractor has told us that delays are due to Martin and Co and almost never the landlord or contractor (especially when it comes to important issues). We have also found this to be largely true. Incredibly disappointing, when before this time we were very happy with the service.

I found about Martin & Co through one of my colleagues. I had to find my apartment during the COVID pandemic and I was super busy working in A&E. I am glad to say their service was excellent and professional. they managed to sort out everything including tenancy agreement so quickly. referring to the Colchester branch My experience with martin and co was good up to a point, but the realization of there predatory business tactics highlights it as a company to avoid. when my contract with them ended they tried to bully me into a 12 month upfront contract, saying i was legally tied to this contract, sadly for them i know contract law and explained how they didn't know what they was talking about. That then moved on to them being petty for the rest of the time ive had to deal with them, they tried to charge me for the following: a used toilet brush that was there when i moved in?? a broken bath panel that was broken already when i moved in. (it was advertised with pictures of the bath panel broken at this point and they hadn't been to take pictures of my property due to covid) a lose toilet seat that was described as having a lose screw + £20 pound charge to them. ohh and the 120 cleaning fee, even though i had the carpets professionally cleaned and they had a painter in as i was moving out??? ohh and to top it of they sent my deposit as cheque. real shame as I'm planing to invest in a large sum of buy to lets in the future and was looking forward with working with them, but i do not want my finances and business to be connected to theses predatory business tactics.

The worst estate agents I've ever seen. I absolutely do not understand the reason why they do not accept the guarantor as a company, why they want only a person. Is there a difference when tenants are guaranteed by a person or a company? And what can you do as an international student? Becoming homeless? I have used the services of Martin & co for almost 14 years and throughout that period have found all their staff to be conscientious , courteous , helpful and reliable. They have dealt with problems promptly and responded quickly to queries raised. The process of re-letting has been efficient and effective every time the property has become vacant. Terrible service couldn't care less once they've got your money, happy to let you live in a mouldy flat with a small child and charge you for the privilege, four months into a tenancy and nothing is resolved, very quick to send out legal letters when the rent stopped though!!

I have been a tenant with M&co for 3 years. I have experienced something horrible with the managers. They are litterally Money suckers!!! Last bad thing they did to us is about the deposit. The claim they want to keep some money because they say they found dust over some windows blinds. I left the clat much cleaner then how it was delivered to me the first time!!! The blinds were covered in thick dust when I entered the property, now they want to keep some money from our deposit because they say there was light dust!!! I haven't been treated in this way evere from any one. Martin&co pprovides a very bad low, poor service to tentants and I can provide a long list of reasons for saying that. Managers are absolutely unprofessional! You should change job instead of sucking people money because of poor service and high fee cost!

Martin & Co - Colchester -management staff. Since we have been providing our services as main maintenance contractors for Martin & Co.  It has been a pleasure to work with the management staff here. I personally have always been very satisfied with the communication from the property management staff. It is absloutly vital that agents work with us replying information that we need to conduct our services efficently which transponds through to the tenants. This review could quite possibly change, we only became a customer at the beginning of the year, but if it carries on the way it is then certainly it will stay a 5*. In comparison to previous letting agents we have been with they are far better. It's not even worth comparing because they are simply much better on every aspect. We had a problem with our boiler, I sent 1 email and the next day the very same day they arranged an engineer to attend the very next day. Many other positives, great customer service.

As someone who spent many years working and training in customer care I have never come across a more professional and friendly person. My previous experience with letting agents is that they ignore your stated requirements, then have the audacity to call you a difficult landlord when you reject a most unsuitable tenant they wish to propose., Not so Martin & Co Colchester! They have a low turnover of staff and all seem highly motivated to do a good and satisfying job.

Without doubt the only letting agent to use in Colchester I have 14 properties with Martin and Co which they have managed for 8 years. I have never had any problems what so ever during this period. All of the team are very attentive to your needs and always respond to any questions. If you are wanting to rent and do not call Martin and Co then in my opinion you are making a big mistake.
