We’re sorry to hear that you feel this way. As agents, our role is to ensure a fair and transparent process for both landlords and tenants, particularly when it comes to deposit deductions. In this case, the landlord voluntarily reduced the deductions significantly, absorbing some costs personally, which was not required. The charges applied were only for necessary work to return the property to a re-lettable condition, in line with the tenancy agreement and deposit protection guidelines. We strongly refute any suggestion that we prey on tenants or landlords. Our role is to act as an intermediary, ensuring that properties are left as per when you moved in subject to fair wear and tear. We do not profit from deposit deductions, any monies deducted go directly to the landlord or contractors carrying out necessary work. In fact, we would much prefer to find no issues at the final inspection, as it creates additional work for us. We always encourage open communication, and where an agreement cannot be reached, we support using the Tenancy Deposit Scheme for independent dispute resolution.
