Callum has been more than accommodating whilst we have been organising the purchase of our new house. Even though difficult conversations Callum’s customer service focus has shone through. This was also represented in additional discussions I have had with Avant employees. In general the whole process has been very accommodating and appreciated.

If I had read the reviews before buying an Avant home - I probably wouldn’t have proceeded. Thank goodness I didn’t! The only thing I would advise people to do would be to judge it on your own experience. People are quick to call out when things aren’t good - but rarely when things are good! We bought our dream forever home in Draffen Park, Stewarton in April and moved in early September. Our experience has been nothing but positive and we are absolutely delighted with everything - it’s so important I share it. The Build. We bought a 4 bed Palmbrook, we bought off plan but we were fortunate that the showhome in the estate is the same style house as ours so we got to see what we were buying. The house is amazing, straightaway from the demo to getting the keys - along with having the luxury of watching it get built on our weekly visits, we saw how hard working and diligent the builders and Avant were. Do we have snags? Yes! But Avant have been excellent and have prioritised having these rectified for us. These have varied from cosmetic, to plumbing, to joinery but every time they are fixed - the representative that has fixed it has been professional and diligent, especially mindful they are now in someone’s home and not a building site. We are delighted with the quality of the build and all the extras we requested. I honestly can’t fault it or Avant. Avant Staff. I have to be honest and say I think we have lucked out here with both the sales agent and the site staff. We have Alex, Del and Rory and each of them have been fantastic. They are approachable, knowledgable and friendly and always on hand to help or guide us. Living here now, we see how hard these guys work and juggle their clients, workers and site visitors. I appreciate it’s their job - but not everyone can do their job well and these guys are a great team. Ashley Lee was our sales agent and she has led us through the whole process from start to finish. She was knowledgeable, approachable and friendly too - she’s been a great support and has made not only buying our dream home a great experience, but she has also helped with the transition as we have moved a distance from home. We honestly can’t thank Avant enough, especially the people on the ground that make things happen. I have no worries in the future that if we had any issues they would be resolved without issue. 5*

Don’t whatever you do purchase a house from Avant homes. Our experience thus far has been well below expectations. The communication is poor, inaccurate and at times rude! Everything which they do is about extracting as much money from you as possible as quickly as they can. Workers are rarely present on site, and asking for some form of plan is frowned upon. I mean why would anyone who is spending nearly half a million on a house want to see what was happening and when, only to be met by “it’s for internal use only”. Based on our experience I highly doubt how often they even review the plan as their approach seems like a scatter gun. One week your on plan, next week it’s moved by a month or so simply because they’ve realised there is too much to do. Often at the point they realise this you’ve already reached the conclusion yourself so you may as well have told them that your dream home won’t be ready in time. When you do receive commitments they are rarely delivered on, often met by excuses that a school child would think of when they hadn’t done their homework. Floor tiling apparently isn’t an extra or provided because they have trouble transporting it without damage, how can you transport wall tiles then are they transport proof??? Options can and will be removed throughout stages of the build for no rhyme or reason with no recompense. You may even have the pleasure of selecting options without even knowing the price, and when you ask have to wait several weeks for an answer. The Site Manager seems well out of their depth and unlike in previous new builds I have purchased is sheltered from any form of interaction with you, even if they fall miles behind plan. Several houses are having to be rebuilt due to poor workmanship, how it gets to that when the Site Manager is on SITE overseeing the build is beyond me. Basically no accountability whatsoever, so if you want an easy ride become a Site Manager with them. Do yourself a favour and buy an old house or a plot of land and have a home built by an independent builder.

Incredibly poor service from start to finish. Sales team were slow responding to any enquiries we had, consistently gave wrong information and failed to inform of us "spec changes", which meant that our home was missing a lot of things we were shown in the show houses and had been part of the reason we chose to buy the home. When we disputed these being removed without us knowing, we we're basically told that nothing could be done as these were no longer offered. Floor plan changed to essentially remove an entire room without us being aware, again down to "spec changes".Many options "sold out" only to find people around us were still able to have them. Kitchen fitted in entirely the wrong colour. House was dirty, grout stained before even moving in (still not fixed almost 11 months after).The aftercare/snagging teams are as bad as the sales teams, takes weeks to even get a response about the simplest of things.Endless list of snags which take forever to be rectified, our snag list was lost by Avant twice. Promises made by them are forgotten about as soon as they receive your money.By far the worst company we've ever dealt with, avoid at all costs, endless problems and stress.

I have to confess I had some trepidation moving into an Avant home having read some reviews on TrustPilot, so thought it would be worth sharing our own experience.We moved into Draffen Park in May 2022, and to be honest we couldn't be happier with the house. It has far exceeded our expectations and we are delighted with the build quality. We bought 'off plan' but there really is no substitute for seeing a built version of the house - Avant houses are just that bit different (in a good way). As would be expected, there were some snagging items but they have all been completed within 3 months which I think is good going. Very happy with the professionalism of the site team (Alex, Del, Rory and the team) who are clearly juggling a lot of commitments but anyone who ever visited us was always took pride in their work, was friendly and approachable, and completed the work to a high standard. Ashley (sales) and Val (customer services) also went out their way to ensure we were happy customers.I'm also pleased to see the effort that has gone in to make the estate a pleasant place to live with well maintained grounds as I know some new build estates can seem like a messy building site forever.In summary, buying a new build house is a stressful experience and naturally there were some hiccups along the way. These all seem irrelevant now and we are delighted with our choice and love our new home.

We reserved a 4-bedroom house in October 2021 and were promised a completion window of Feb/April 2022. Knowing how optimistic builders usually are, we thought they would actually be ready in May. The sales process was a bit odd, as when we went to reserve the plot, the sales lady (Julie) actually tried to put us off by saying that we needed to produce a ton of documents in order to be able to actually pay the deposit, that reserving wasn't that easy, etc. I am not sure why but the way she spoke suggested she didn't want us to have it (maybe we didn't fit the profile), and she kept saying that it would be sold very quickly anyway. I was under the impression the role of a sales team was, you know, to SELL?? We went home totally deflated and started looking for another house elsewhere but couldn't find anything remotely as nice so went back a few weeks later to reserve the plot (which, funnily enough, hadn't sold in the meantime), armed with all the required paperwork.Fortunately, this great lady called Helen took over. She was very efficient and corrected a lot of mistakes that Julie had made when we bought the upgrades. Even after the sale, Helen and Patricial are always ready to help with any queries, which is much appreciated.Head office put a lot of pressure on us to exchange within 28 days - just as well we had an amazing conveyancer who is used to this process so everything went smoothly.Avant phoned us in June to say the house would be ready on the 30th, as it's the end of their financial year. We went to have a look around a week before and realised there was no way the house would be ready a week later (it wasn't anyway, as the sales office told us). It got finished around the 10th of July.One thing I will say is I wish head office weren't so into their hard sales tactics, as we had to reapply for a mortgage (the previous one had expired mid-June) and the whole time we were pressured and threatened with possibly losing the house if we didn't complete on the 30th June. This created a lot of unnecessary stress, as the house wasn't even ready anyway (site was saying the house wasn't ready but HO didn't take any notice).Turns out, they had to wait until the mortgage money came through and didn't remarket our house after all. Talking to my neighbours, they had exactly the same things said to them, so I definitely think it's a deliberate strategy. Looks like they could do with a bit more customer care training (if they receive any) because that achieves absolutely nothing in terms of deadlines.As a result, we were afraid they might have rushed the internal fittings but when we moved in we were really surprised to find out everything had been done just right. Our snagging list had about 10 items and most of them were cosmetic issues. We reported them to Daniel Singh, who has been amazing at sorting everything out for us (I have heard it's not the case with all customer service staff so we consider ourselves lucky). 2 months on and there are about 2 things left on our list.For the first week after we moved in, the site manager Darren was walking around every day to check everybody was happy and things were working correctly, which was really handy (especially when we found out our garage door was jammed shut - they sent someone out the next day).The great shame about Avant is that they are now removing all the nice elements that make them different and better from other builders (bi-fold doors, nice bathroom tiles, lovely kitchens, coloured doors). No doubt this is due to the new CEO who came from Persimmon. Having lived in a Persimmon house previously, I can attest the build quality is substandard, the finish very poor and the fittings extremely basic. I just hope Avant don't go down the same route, as people will have no reason to buy from them rather than other builders.
