The team at Abbots made our entire moving process smooth and super easy. They were on hand at all times to answer all of our questions. AVOID. Read this review first! IMPORTANT: They shove a bit of paper your way asking for a review when you're feeling good about picking up your keys. I would bet they have far fewer positive reviews without this. They'll be great until they get your money, then they couldn't care less. We were promised an extra key, now being told we can't. We were promised it'd be cleaned, flat was FILTHY and they've been useless at sorting anything out. We were promised things would be fixed and now they won't be. We've been lied to again and again, and had ZERO help despite multiple emails and calls. Awful, you'll regret using these guys, made our moving in experience atrocious.

Having purchased multiple properties during my life both in Chelmsford and other counties from estate agents, I can genuinely safely say that this Abbotts branch is by far the worst. They were so poor in so many levels and I can tell this is one of the cheapest agents available in the area for obvious reasons. They are also extremely hard to get hold of and I ended up falling out with staff member due to their poor service, another staff member who picked up my case was better I must admit but even when collecting my keys to the purchased property from one of the admin ladies she was also unhelpful and can clearly see she wasn't interested, neither did she want to be working there. Please don't listen to a lot of fake reviews on here and trust mine as a multiple property owning landlord who has dealt with many estate agents during my time. Would not recommend this branch at the slightest!

We have been renting a property through Abbotts for two years now and we have always been very pleased with the excellent service we have been provided with. The property was shown to us via a video during covid and we were impressed with the professionalism despite the time as well as the great condition in which the house was in. The paperwork was very easy to fill in and Ben, the agent was helping us throughout the whole process. Since then, there have been numerous occasions where we needed a repair or a spare key, and the agency have gone above and beyond. One of the people being Thapelo Kobe, who always responds to us immediately and ensures all of our enquires are answered. Very friendly and helpful which makes it easier for us to reach out for help. All the agents are very friendly in person, always return our calls and they ensure to maintain a good relationship between tenants and landlords. Would certainly recommend :)

Poor service

I have to say that I have been very disappointed with your service for the following reason: We could have completed on February 14th (as our buyer desperately wanted) but because your agent continuously told the buyer it would be impossible to complete the conveyancing by then (and perhaps even lucky to do so in March even), it scared them into extending their rental lease for a further month and thus delaying completion until March. I was told the same by your agent but our solicitors said it might be possible and it has proven that it was. I was not updated at all by your staff over the progress with the sale. I was the one doing all of the chasing and updating you. On one occasion I went into your shop to specifically ask you to contact our buyer to see if he was happy with the completion date proposed and to exchange. Your member of staff scribbled a note on an already full scrap of paper and then clearly forgot as nothing happened and so I contacted the buyer myself. I informed you when we were going to exchange and complete and when we had exchanged. The only positive experience was Emma, who was good at what she did.

Fantastic Service!

Of the 3 estate agents I contacted to market my late mother's property in Ely, Pat Case from Abbotts stood out from the very start. He was professional and knowledgeable but not at all pushy. He valued the property at significantly more than other agents but I went with it since Pat clearly knows the local market better than I. Pat and Jack at Ely office knew I didn't want to conduct any viewings as it was a bit of an emotional sale and not once did they ask me to. They did six viewings on the first Saturday which cannot have been easy for them, particularly at relatively short notice, but they did it willingly. Their enthusiasm paid off and within days they achieved an offer at the full asking price from a cash buyer who was close to exchanging/completing her sale. During the sale Pat provided regular updates and was proactive in trying to assist with progress. The sale took just under 7 weeks from start to finish and I know that Pat and his team's help must have contributed to this amazingly quick transaction. I am extremely grateful to Abbotts at Ely for making what was a difficult time so much easier for me and I would thoroughly recommend them. Thank you so much.

I made the mistake of trying to rent a property through Abbotts. Their staff never responded to my emails requesting information. I had to call multiple times, and despite their assurances, they never followed up with me. Eventually, I discovered that the property was no longer available, but the staff never bothered to inform me. I only found out through a friend who lived in the same building as the flat I was interested in renting.
