I want to give a massive thanks to Nicola MacDonald who managed the sale of my property. Cannot recommend highly enough. Given I live abroad, she helped massively in chasing up the buyer parties and the management company for my property. She acted with a great deal of diligence, scrutinising all the correspondence, ensuring actions and dates were promptly followed up. She kept my conveyancing team on their toes, holding them to account every time they dropped the ball (which they did a lot!). If it wasn't for her efforts, I daresay I'd still be waiting to complete the sale of my house. She made sure I was kept in the loop all the way, keep me updated with how things were tracking with the buyer and what I needed to provide. Honestly think she did most of the work that my conveyancers should have done. If you need a property sold and require someone who will work tirelessly and diligently and treat you with care and respect, then you will not regret engaging and hiring Nicola to be your sales manager. While this sounds like hyperbole, it's not - There's not enough stars available on this review to do her expertise and work justice.

I cannot thank Nicola Macdonald at Choices Croydon enough for the exceptional service she provided. I don’t usually leave reviews, but the service I’ve received from Choices Estate Agents Croydon, and in particular Nicola Macdonald, has been nothing short of exceptional. Nicola is currently helping me sell a property in Croydon, and from the very beginning, she has been informative, proactive, and incredibly helpful. She consistently goes above and beyond what I would have expected from an estate agent. One moment that really stood out: she personally contacted both my insurance brokers and mortgage lenders to chase up documentation and ensure a smooth process. This wasn’t something I asked her to do, she simply took the initiative. Her guidance has also been invaluable, offering practical tips and highlighting things to watch out for so I can make well-informed decisions throughout. It’s rare to see an estate agent who goes extra miles quietly batting for their client in the background without claiming credit or recognition. We have just moved in our dream house since last week thanks to Nicola and Grant from Choices. They worked really hard, especially Nicola for making the process less hassle even though troubles always came up all at a sudden, she thought and came up with solutions for all parties involved. We were in a large chain ever, so it was really complicated at all different stages especially when a lot of people got different problems to solve. Nicola and Grant always acted at speed to email and follow up with phone calls to make sure all people be updated with the situation. Nicola & Grant were both very helpful throughout the instruction and marketing stages, though once a buyer was found we felt the follow-ups regarding chasing of the purchaser & his solicitor was lacking somewhat, otherwise this review would be 5*. Having said that, once completion dates were being mentioned they were helpful in making sure that all parties involved were singing from the same hymn sheet. It was also new to us that the purchaser paid their fees rather than us as a vendor, which, whilst unconventional in the general property market, has apparently worked well for them for a number of years & was definitely a bonus to us. I would certainly use them again.

I would advise landlords to be very cautious when dealing with this company and not to trust advertisements promising 12 months’ rent paid in advance. They rented my property to an agency that placed three different families in the house. I was charged around £4,500 per year in management fees, yet they did not inspect the property even once during the year. When the tenants left, the property was in a very poor condition, and I had to spend around £10,000 on repairs and refurbishment. After this, the company also sent me an invoice for approximately £11,000, claiming it was for unpaid rent owed by their tenants. My experience with this company has been extremely disappointing.

In marketing my property Nicola provided a valuation for me which I initially thought was a bit low and I insisted it was marketed at a higher value. Turns out her valuation was spot on, I hadn't taken into account the current market for my property type. Once a buyer was found Nicola and Grant were invaluable in their help both practically, meeting me at the property when I was missing a key, and throughout the sales process, chasing up on the buyer's solicitors and keeping me informed at all times. Their enthusiasm for what they do inspired confidence during a process which can at times be frustrating. I highly recommend them both.

We rented a property through Choices in 2019 and it was a terrible experience. We were told that the property would be professionally cleaned (including removal of mould), and all non-working fixtures would be repaired, before we moved in. On move in day, we arrived to the flat and it was in the same state we originally saw it, nothing had been cleaned and the fixtures were not working. There were nail clippings on the sofa (it came furnished), food under the cushions, food on the walls and floor, and the bathroom was grimy and clearly not even wiped down. I called and spoke with the branch manager who tried to be a real smart aleck about the situation, first telling me the place had been professionally cleaned and then telling me his agent never agreed that it would be professionally cleaned. He was condescending and rude. Unfortunately for him, and luckily for us, it wasn’t our first time working with a letting agency. Before we signed the rental contract, we wrote down everything wrong with the property and what we needed done before we would move in. The agent (who I recall was somewhat new) agreed to this and signed our written document. Upon explaining this to the branch manager, he at first did not believe me. He requested I send him a picture of the signed note, which I did, and he quickly changed his tune. Next thing he arrived at the flat, dressed in a suit and tie, and went to work cleaning our flat. He didn’t leave until we were satisfied with the job he had done. The only thing that he did not fix that day were the fixtures, which took many more weeks to get sorted. Safe to say, if we hadn’t gotten that note signed, the branch manager would have continued talking out of his backside to avoid any responsibility. Luckily we had a break lease at 6 months, and we took it. Moral of the story, avoid this place at all costs, or at least make sure you have proof of any discussions to back yourself up.

Myself and partner have been looking for a property for a while. Many of the other estate agents dismissed us because of one CCJ and only one income. Despite me managing to afford the rent with my salary, they used having a CCJ as an excuse to reject our offers. Quite an awful experience to say the least, im a civil servant and have managed to rent through Acorn for over three years! They couldn't help me and gave no reasons for the landlord refusing a very good offer. It was looking doom and gloom until I received a phone call from Michael at choices estate agents! He welcomed the fact that I had a judgement, told me that he will help us to find a property. Myself at first even dismissed him saying that no other agent can help and that I'm feeling like giving up on my search. Michael done his best to reassure me that having a CCJ will not stop us from finding a property to rent. He went above and beyond to assist us and find us a property. His knowledge and experience in the rental market was invaluable and we hugely benefited from his professional services. He kept us informed throughout each stage of our application, from making a successful offer to passing our referencing checks and obtaining our move in date at the end of the month. I personally recommend using this ageny and contacting Michael if you are having similar or other difficulties in finding a property to rent. This has turned a disappointment into a success for us, so thank you Michael and choices agency for everything !!

Choices has made a seperate contract woth my tenants using my address. These people they think yhat they are above the law. Part 3 of the review.i paid choices up front for a 6 months contract to act a mediator for rogue tenants. Instead choices ignored my instructions and made the tenants pay rwnt through them even though I had paid them up front. They ised the big bad landlord against the sweet little tenant I wonder why such a large organisation such as choices were so easily manipulated. They gave back my rent money after adding around £1170 worth of charges fir 6 months service in top of the £1,890 given to them up front. They are scammers ovoid them.

Untrustworthy and misleading estate agent. Choice Estate Agent took money from tenants but informed me as the landlord that no tenants were found and that no rent had been paid. The rent was never transferred to me. This behavior felt dishonest and extremely unprofessional. I believe landlords should avoid this agency, as the lack of transparency caused me financial loss and stress.

We have just today moved into our new home. Sold by choices. They were wonderful! When putting in the offer, we spoke with Dan Norris and Dan Skegg. Both were excellent. They explained the process so simply, and we felt confident putting an offer in. We then had to negotiate money off the property and multiple surveys. Again, they were both supportive, understanding and helpful. We never felt pressured or rushed. They worked hard to get the sale done at a price that suited everyone. We trusted the two of them 100%. We then worked with Nicky (I think) who was brilliant in helping us set a completion and exchange date. She helped us with a very tricky solicitor, and made the process 100 times easier. Between the three of them, they got us our perfect forever home. They went above and beyond for us, whilst being so professional, and so friendly. If we had have had a different team, I don't think we would be in this home. If we ever sell, we will use choices!
