Amazing service from start to completion

From start to completion, Bear was brilliant every step of the way. Every member of staff we dealt with were polite, courteous and respectful. They were very reasonably priced and worked so hard for their money. Helen was an absolute legend, keeping us updated the whole time and chased everyone when needed (which happened a lot). She was an amazing go between and without her, well I wouldn’t have been able to manage. I would highly recommend Bear to everyone. Thank you Bear and thank you so much Helen.

Helen was amazing

Helen, our senior sales progressor, was the standout of a genuinely difficult purchase. Our transaction hit multiple serious delays: a defunct solicitors' firm, confusion over the freeholder, a stalled Building Safety Act certificate. Helen was consistently the one actually pushing things forward. She tracked down direct contacts, chased on our behalf when our own solicitors were slow to respond, and kept us properly informed throughout. Genuinely don't think this purchase would have completed without her persistence. Highly recommend.

Great Estate Agent

My sale took a year to finally complete and involved 3 different sets of buyers. Bear kept me informed every step of the way and were great when the sales collapsed ensuring I had new viewings very quickly. During each sale Zoe kept me well informed managing my expectations (and stress levels!) and was always on hand if I had any questions. The whole team couldn’t have been more helpful and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else.

Bear Hockley, Ellis and Zoe made it a good experience

We used Bear Hockley to sell our Mum’s property when she went in to a care home. Ellis said he would price the property to sell, without undervaluing it, and would aim to sell at asking price plus cover our costs, which is exactly what he did. He even matched his costs to those offered by another agent, less than they normally charge. There was no hard sell and Ellis had a very friendly approach caring about our position and circumstances. Property sold within 6 days of it going live and he advised on on best buyer from offers received, luckily we got one with a good deposit and no chain. There were some delays due to it being on an unadopted road, but Zoe our sales progresser was brilliant every step of the way, reassuring us and in liasing with solicitors on both sides to keep things moving. We wouldn’t hesitate in using Bear again or recommending their services to others wanting to buy or sell locally. A great experience all round.

Fantastic service throughout!

Great service from start to finish. Tom was brilliant from the start on the early negotiating sale side. Always felt I could get hold of the team for any questions etc. Then we were passed to Helen for sales progression who was faultless. She kept us up to date throughout the entire process both on email and also phone calls. Communication was superb throughout, always felt I could get help if needed and the fees were good too! Would not hesitate to recommend Bear to anyone looking to buy/sell a property!

Posting on behalf of my sister regarding Bear Lettings (Southend-on-Sea). A £200 cleaning deduction was applied at the end of the tenancy. No itemized breakdown or evidence of professional cleaning was provided, only a basic invoice. At move-in, the only smoke alarm in the 2-bedroom property was not operational due to missing battery, despite being recorded as operational at check-in. Submitted photographic and video evidence documenting the condition of the property at the start of the tenancy was provided in advance but was not referenced in the assessment of the case. The basis for the cleaning charge was not clearly evidenced within the documentation provided, and formal quotations or supporting invoices were not issued prior to the request for payment. Jade Bacon was helpful in resolving an earlier issue. Notice: For any party engaging with this branch, tenant, landlord, buyer, or contractor, ensure that all stages of the process are independently documented and acknowledged in writing at the time of inspection. This includes property condition records, any proposed deductions, and supporting evidence prior to agreement. Reliance on retrospective or office-generated summaries may not provide sufficient transparency.

I cannot praise Bear estate agents enough. There were several worrying times with my solicitors not replying, and situations I didn't know what to do next etc, but Sydney at Bear was amazing and always put my mind at rest and restored my faith in the sales progression when at times I thought it was all over. We have just completed our time with Bear, we sold one and bought two properties via the Leigh team. From my initial meeting with Jack all the way through to Megan handling our sale/purchases, we had nothing but professional and efficient service. Ours was a delicate situation due to divorce but they handled it beautifully. For every time I answered a call to have Megan say “it’s nothing to worry about” was so appreciated and made a stressful time less so. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Bear again. Thank you all.
