Lynette was a great help when viewing 4 properties across Canterbury. She was knowledgable about all the different areas and had a good idea of what we were looking for in a house! Highly recommend booking viewings across the city on one day- and with Lynette

Do Not Use Them
I completely agree with a previous comment citing 'Misleading practices and lack of accountability'I strongly advise anyone not to use them or to move to another agent after my stressful and upsetting experience. If you are tied in, do not believe anything they tell you and insist on receiving all communication and confirmation of conversations from them in writing so that you have a paper trail of everything you are told. Make sure you attend all viewings with them if possible. Speak to any proposed buyers yourself and double check everything . If your property is empty then do not allow them to access without you attending. Regularly check on your property. I wanted an apology for their underhand practices, which potentially cost me thousands, but all I got was more lies and denials. No apology, no accountability.
Dear Mrs Jenkins, we are saddened to read your review as we take the subjects raised in your comment seriously. We understand that our colleagues have been liaising with you and have addressed all concerns raised.

Very pleased with service all the way to completion!
We recently bought a property through M&B. The viewings and information were excellent quality, and we were particularly impressed by the service of sales progression which kept the process moving to a close efficiently and ironing out any wrinkles. Thanks to Emily Stickler particularly for this. We would have no hesitation in recommending Miles & Barr.

Thanks M&B Westgate
As Executor of her Will I have just completed the sale of my mother-in-law's flat using M&B's Westgate Branch. Throughout the team were excellent. There were some frustrating delays as always seems to the case but I was proactively updated on all developments by the whole team. Special mention goes to our Progressor, Debbie Mead who was excellent. She really seemed to "own" the result for the family given that the Estate proceeds could not be distributed until the sale was closed. The level of focus was much appreciated given that she must have had other transactions to manage. I would thoroughly recommend the whole team.

Amy Whiffin - Amazingly helpful!
Amy Whiffin is the most helpful, patient and understanding agent ever. We have dealt with her since she was at Advanced lettings and her professionalism and drive to help and always find a solution to a problem is a credit to her. She always has the time to give when you call (and sometimes I do drive her mad I'm sure), but she is always ready to listen. Amy is time effective and we never have to wait very long for a response. A credit to Miles & Barr. Thanks for everything Amy!!

Poor property management service
If you’re looking for an agency to manage your rental property you should avoid choosing Miles & Barr. I had a contract with them for just a year and during this time there was a poorly managed conflict of interest, an account manager change without making me aware, and absolutely no accountability for anything. My contract and the management package I chose both stated that ‘property visits’ would be carried out. On selling my property, I asked for the details of these and it transpired only one had been completed. I also have an email from them stating when my next one was due. On asking for reimbursement seeing as they hadn’t provided the service, I was told that they won’t be offering this to me and would instead be training their staff to provide the right information in future. There were two account managers on the email detailing when the second visit was due, and for them both to let me believe a second visit would be carried out makes me think it should have been.I also had to wait 10 days for my final rental payment after first being told that it would be on its way to me as soon as they received it into their account from the tenant - despite me asking if it would be paid pro rata once the new landlord was in place. I was then told they were awaiting a document from me which no-one had mentioned before. Then, when it was all arranged after I chased up their accounts department, I was made to feel like they’d done me a favour by releasing the funds to me despite the misinformation coming from them. It’s my belief that management agencies should be in place to make your life as a landlord easier, not more difficult, so I would advise finding a proactive option that carries out the service that they promise you.

We are purchasing a property through…
We are purchasing a property through Miles and Barr and Lisa Cook (Sales Progression Manager) has been great to deal with. We’re unfortunately in a very long chain and she’s taken all of the follow-ups off our plate and ensured it’s been as smooth as possible - not an easy task in a lengthy chain. Thanks Lisa!

Disgusting how they treat pensioners
Disgusting how they treat pensioners. My poor mum was reduced to tears many times by these people. They laughed and made vile comments her earnings while selling the house she lived in. My mums clean her house every day and yet they gave a bad report on her with fair and poor grades over a couple of washable marks on the plug socket and windows. These are nasty people with no manners but I'm sure you will be treated great if you have alot of money
Thank you for your review Ryan, I am really disappointed to hear of your mums experience with us, we take feedback very seriously and this feedback doesn't show the level of care we aspire to. Could you please email me more information and provide your mums name and the address of the property this relates to so that we can look into this for you as a matter of urgency. You may email lisarice@milesandbarr.co.uk. Thanks again for your time in leaving a review, I look forward to hearing from you soon.Best, Lisa

Distress Caused by Deceptive Practices and Lack of Accountability
Miles and Barr Canterbury used misleading practices and sold my an apartment using incorrect information. This has caused financial and personal distress. When viewing the apartment I was directly led to and shown an underground parking space. However, after purchasing the property was told that my apartment did not have a parking space assigned. It's akin to being promised a private pool during a viewing, only to find out post-purchase that the pool belongs to your neighbour. This deception left me emotionally and financially damaged. Furthermore, Miles and Barr refuse to take steps in resolving this matter. They have frequently failed to respond to emails, attempted to ignore my legal representative, and refused to cooperate with property ombudsman who is now involved. Beware of Miles and Barr's misleading practices and the distress they may cause. I strongly recommend to avoid purchasing, renting or selling via this company.
Dear Jonathan, We are saddened to read your review as we take all complaints seriously, as well as our responsibilities when dealing with The Property Ombudsman, of whom we were in touch regarding your concerns. We understand your concerns have resulted in an agreed resolution with us directly.

Recently I dealt with Mr. Luke Payne deputy branch manager of Miles & Barr and it was a pleasure to deal him. His knowledge of the market and his positive attitude and professionalism deserves 5 stars rating. Thanks Luke, thanks Miles & Barr.

Friendly, professional and knowledgeable
A professional service, all of the staff that I met were friendly and accommodating. I was impressed by the Senior Sales Progressor. Suzanne is experienced, informative, friendly and easy to talk to about any concerns I had/have. She is great person to have for linking both the seller and myself for information and, importantly, a sense of respect.

We’ve had an absolutely brilliant…
We’ve had an absolutely brilliant experience with Miles & Barr and buying our first home, we’ve felt really looked after from start to finish! Our case manager Shelley Webster kept us informed regularly throughout the process, there was never a need to chase things or call up as we knew we were in safe hands. Our purchase went through really swiftly and completely stress free (unbelievable considering we’d been told by so many that this would be the most stressful thing we’d ever do!), Shelley has been an angel and the team at Miles and Barr Deal have also been superb, we were so chuffed when we left the branch with our keys and the most thoughtful moving in box! 10/10

STAY CLEAR !Please be careful of this company
Please be careful of this company. They are wicked and conniving thieves. They came into our home with glossy brochures, and you know what the saying is!! mouth and no actions, not one person walked through the door, they done nothing but fobbed us off, saying that we had a viewings, and then at the last minute they said that the customers cancelled, but I knew that they were lying they took our money which was over £200 for the photographs and took our money for the ID checks charge us over £70.00 when other companies do this for free. It was all about money. We had to pay the agent guy £100 cash at the premises too. They said that they would do a deal and put the property up for 12 weeks, but they lied. It was put up for 20 weeks they didn’t sell. They just kept fobbing us off. All they wanted was our money. STAY CLEAR OF THESE ROBBERS & do the decent thing shop elsewhere. We hope that we’ve lost them a few customers from this review. We have let the local authorities know about this. Reply well you have - My partner & you won’t look into anything as your unprofessional- I will get my partner to put her review down when her email is updated - you have all her details
Dear Mr Trone, We take all of the points raised in your review seriously, as we take great care in delivering a professional and transparent experience. Sellers are required under law by the UK Government to conduct an Energy Performance Certification (EPC) and an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) check before a home can be marketed to buyers. Like many other businesses within our industry, these checks are an additional charge as they are carried out by a professional, qualified third party. We ensure that all costs are presented upfront and discussed with every client, including our expert in-house professional photography service. We are saddened that your experience with us was not positive and we welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with you if you would like to contact us at communications@milesandbarr.co.uk. Kind regards, James Perks, Branch Director.

For selling
Firstly, I am not affiliated with Miles & Barr in any way. This is my genuine experience.I was nervous about selling my property but Miles & Barr were very relaxed and guided me through the process. They gave good advice as to presentation and what buyers want to see which also helped the sale. Throughout the process the Team kept in regular contact about viewings, offers and feedback. They kept communication straightforward, easy to understand and their experience of this industry is clear to see. The house has sold in 4 months, which given current UK circumstances with Covid is a lot faster than I thought. Other notes are:Their fees are standard and dont seem excessive considering our sale price.Their recommended Conveyancers PLS were also excellent and compliment the Miles & Barr service. We never felt pushed or rushed into making a decision. And finally, we would definitely us Mile & Barr again.

Staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. As a first time buyer I found them very approachable and happy to answer any concerns or questions I had. Denise helped me through my first time purchase by keeping me well informed and updated throughout. Communication was excellent and I felt well supported throughout the process. Thanks to Denise's help I am now excited to move into my new home!

Absolutely poor service
Absolutely poor service. We recently moved out of Tannery Square, managed by Miles and Barr and are being charged a ridiculous fee for normal wear and tear and are being asked to pay for a professional clean despite cleaning the apartment. The agency is keeping over 40% of our deposit and refuses give our deposit back. Furthermore, they initially tried to charge us for items "missing", which were simply left in the closet. Poor service and incompetent handling of our move.
Dear Akif Reza Talukder, We take the points raised in your review seriously as our Lettings team endeavours to deliver a positive, transparent and communicative experience throughout every tenancy. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your experience further with you if you would like to contact us at communications@milesandbarr.co.uk.

Emily Stickler managed the sale for Miles & Barr
Emily Stickler managed the sale for Miles & Barr with care, concern and diligence. She kept us well informed with regular weekly email bulletins. Although the sale took longer than we would have wished, this was in no way the fault of the Estate Agent or the staff. They were always very supportive and keen to update the presentation of the property to secure a sale.

Georgia is amazing. Found a selection of property to view all within the brief. She was a delight to view the properties with and very knowledgable about the property and the local area. The best agent I have worked with by far!

The kindest letting agents!
This is our first time moving and we were very nervous about the whole process, however Natalie made it a breeze! She was so kind and didn’t make us feel like we were at a disadvantage for being newbies to the moving process. She kept us up to date throughout the whole process and now we’re just waiting for the references to go through and we’ll be moving into our first place! So excited and cannot thank Natalie enough for making it such a speedy and easy process.

Disappointing
Engaged the services of the Folkestone branch, initially to sell my property and then to let it. Communication was zero, the sales team never called me once!!! Lettings were not much better, never informed me as to cancellations or viewings.Very disappointing, Estate Agents do not generally have a good reputation and the lack of customer service I received vindicates this.Christine

Awful agent
Awful agent, i will never be using them, they price properties way to high and nowhere near where what they are worth, when you submit offer they laugh at. All properties are 1st listed at 300k weather its worth that or not. Customer service is disgusting, they dont send you houses which are suitable like they say they will. They do not like working with you and when they acually send you houses that say will accept your offers all of a sudden when u offer it isnt accepted. They also ignore emails when you send them. They also do not ask you for your finances when you submit an offer. This has been on going since 1st of july 2023I contacted the manager as requested by phone and email and never heard back, so clearly didnt want to resolve my issues
Dear Emma,Thank you so much for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience with ourselves when offering on a property didn't meet your expectations. You may contact him on bradleywright@milesandbarr.co.uk or 07860 689496.Once again, thank you for your initial feedback, we look forward to speaking with you

Deliberately overpriced, appalling customer service
Deliberately overpriced the property to get the business. Then spend their time trying to get us to reduce it. Promised to update us every two weeks, only received one update in the whole 22 weeks I wasted being with the. No feedback whatsoever on viewings. Do not respond to emails, customer service is appalling. Then when you finally manage to get out of their contract they have the gaul to send an email reminding you of your contractual obligations completely ignoring the fact that they had failed on every front to meet theirs.
Dear Kathryn, Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that on this occasion your experience with us didn't meet your expectations. We understand that the branch manager has been in touch with you, apologised personally and undertaken a review of the internal procedures and implemented changes as a result of to ensure this doesn't happen again. So we would really like to thank you for your honest feedback. We are sorry that your experience with us was not what we or you would expect but we would like to reassure you that we have acted on this feedback with good intention. Once again, thank you for your time and we wish you all the very best.
Where the same review appears twice we show it once. We leave out reviews that name another agent or another of the brand's offices.
