I am not a tenant or landlord, but a neighbour of a property let by John Shepherd. There was an issue with a piece of broken furniture in which could be heard in my property, creating an awful consistent noise. This had been a long standing issue in which the previous lettings agent did not consider part of their remit, and were quite unhelpful. When I heard the property was now managed by John Shepherd, I called and spoke to Caitlin, Property Manager. She was extremely helpful, sorted the issue within a week and kept in contact with me throughout. It is rare that we give positive feedback and I believe we are all judged on how things are managed when things go wrong, which is why I am leaving this review. If I could give zero stars I would. If you are a student in Nottingham DO NOT rent with this company. Their communication has been awful from day 1 and we never had any idea what was going on. Any issues we reported weren’t fixed until we had asked multiple times. My toilet was leaking and flooding the bathroom which was an urgent issue and they still took a few days to take action. They never bothered reporting the building lift being broken to the landlord even though we are on the top floor and reported it many times. On the day we moved in we had to spend around an hour and a half negotiating to get our keys on the day we were meant to collect them as they tried to charge us an extra few hundred pounds that we never owed them in the first place. Once we finally got the keys we got to the property and the kitchen hadn’t even been cleaned even though they promised it had and to make matters worse 2 of the 10 bedroom keys did not work. The key collection was scheduled at 4pm on a Friday and they had no out of hours office to contact for help and we didn’t get our new keys for another week. So if anyone is thinking of renting one of their properties I hope this has proven why you should not.
