First-class service from a first-class team, Bidwells are simply the best at what they do.

My experience with Bidwells (Cambridge) has been nothing short of first class. From the very first step to the execution of tenancy agreement, they have been absolutely spot on in terms of managing both parties to the tenancy (tenant and landlord), assisting with reference checks and looking after every detail. I have never experienced a better service from an agency and would wholeheartedly recommend their team to both tenants and landlords. Niki Stephenson, Alex Bloxham and their team are absolute stars.

It's not an offer price, it's a guide price!

I don't believe this 1* review does justice to the service we received from Robert Couch at the Cambridge office of Bidwells, but sadly I can't give a 0* review.We were looking for a high end house for my mother, she had already sold her home and was a 100% cash buyer. We thought this would put us in a strong position as buyers, but little did we understand the unique house selling methodology employed by Mr Couch.The first house we tried to purchase we really loved, it was expensive, but that goes with the territory. So we paid the offer price for it. However, Mr Couch kindly explained to us that the offer price is not an offer price, it is a "guide price", and not only would he not withdraw the house from the market so we could begin the conveyancing process, but he would leave it on the market for a few weeks to see what other bidders he could find! This is ridiculous, unprofessional behaviour in my opinion. We said we wouldn't participate in such a merry go round, and would wait until we got to the "sealed bids" stage. Eventually after a couple of weeks, I guess Mr Couch felt the participants were dizzy enough to proceed to sealed bids, we submitted ours, and won!For a day. For the next day we were told we were gazumped. So much for sealed bids, but it was not any more than we had come to expect.The next house we attempted to buy, we also paid the Offer Price for. But, once again we didn't understand that the offer price is meaningless at Bidwells. Once again the merry go round blurred, but this time there were no other buyers! We said we would honour our bid and expected to proceed to the purchase process. However, once more we were disappointed. Mr Couch assured us that whilst the buyer did want to sell the house, apparently someone paying the full price in cash wasn't enough to persuade them to actually sell it. No! They would just leave it on the market. Which they did for months.In the meantime we bought a lovely house with the help of Stewart Chipchase at Savills.Just for clarity, I have bought dozens of homes in the UK and abroad, and have yet to have to have had such a poor experience of trying, and failing to buy one.You might have a better experience than we did with Bidwells, I doubt it could get much worse.

I have dealt with Bidwells since 1979…

I have dealt with Bidwells since 1979 when I joined the family retail business in Trinity Street Cambridge. Their job was to review the rent on behalf of the College. Now retired I use them as agent for a flat I own to let. Mel Jarvis has found me three excellent tenants and now we begin the forth set. Lacie Hay manages the tenancies ongoing and sets my mind at rest with calm assurance. I have forgiven Bidwells now that I am a landlord myself, though I doubt they will ever make me as rich as Trinity.

Though I am yet to secure a property, Andy at Bidwells went above and beyond to help me find a property, letting me know of properties due to become available and getting in contact as soon as something became available to help with my property search (most people will only help with that particular property and even then don't always give much help due to the large number of people inquiring about properties). 9 years ago I purchased a property through Bidwells. The service was fantastic. Bidwells then found the most perfect tenants for the property. My tenants have all been professional,long term tenants of a high calibre. Nothing is too much for the Bidwells team, they have arranged engineers for gas safety certificates yearly. And plumbers etc for any other works. I highly highly recommend Bidwells.

I was selling our family home after my mother passed away and had 3 estate agents visit to pitch for the business. Robert Couch came to discuss options and pricing, and presented us with the a selection of material for similar properties with sale prices to justify the valuation. It wasn't the highest valuation, and they didn't offer the cheapest fees. We went with Robert because we felt we'd get the most personalised service. Also, we had to have a high level of trust given we weren't local and couldn't monitor things closely. They were very patient with our changes to the marketing material and despite hitting lockdown #1 just as we were to about to go live, kept in contact regularly to make sure we were all ready to move quickly once the lockdown ended. As soon as viewings could start, potential buyers were ready to go. We were kept well informed on progress and within a few weeks of the first viewing it had gone to sealed bids. My parents have just relocated from…
