TrustpilotWonderful Experience
We have rented with Romans now for the last 2 years, and it’s been a very pleasurable experience. We were moving into our first rented property - we were assisted and helped at all angles by Romans and I cannot praise Aston enough who has been an incredible property manager. She is extremely helpful, kind and always willing to give advice or knowledge. Aston has made our moving process a breeze and it wouldn’t have been this easy without her. Thankyou for everything!

TrustpilotGreat Customer Service!
I just want to compliment Romans on their great customer service. I was in the position of seeking a new apartment to rent and my main contact at Romans, Anais Payne, helped me to find a suitable property that met my requirements. She always replied to my email enquiries promptly, in a courteous and professional manner. The process of obtaining a new tenancy went smoothly, with guidance provided by Romans throughout the duration. Thank you Romans!

TrustpilotUtterly incompetent
The entire year of my tenancy I’ve been contacted by multiple Romans agents accusing me of not paying rent, while all payments were made on time. I’ve sent proof of payments to all the agents that contacted me, all of them said they will fix the issue but they never did. Even their credit control department took up the issue but never fixed it. My landlord has no issue with my rent payments and has agreed to extend my tenancy, yet I still keep getting emails about unpaid rent. Utterly incompetent staff and company, can’t even sort out the transfer of accounts after acquiring another agency

TrustpilotGood professional service from Romans staff in Clifton Bristol
We were recently looking for a flat in Bristol as our current landlord had sold the one we were living in, forcing us to move. We had looked at lots, held by different estate agents. Reuben Hotchkiss at Romans in Clifton, Bristol, showed us round the one we ended up renting. He was punctual, professional and knowledgeable. Despite being short-staffed in his office, with a large workload, he was attentive and thorough in his advice, following up quickly on queries. All the checks were done in time and we were able to move in on schedule. What could have been a stressful process wasn’t. I’m very grateful.

TrustpilotImproving communication
The selling of the service is excellent; once that process has been completed, the communication is sometimes poor, always by email and automated. I pay for a service, but I'm still required to carry out all the work eg assess inventory report pre and post tenant. I would expect them to inform me of the issues, recommendations etc and then let me decide whether I need to address, accept, decline etc. I dont apportion any blame to the inexperienced people I deal with, but its clear the support mechanism or training is not in place to assist these individuals development.

TrustpilotI'm horrified how a company like Romans…
I'm horrified how a company like Romans Group can still operate and have customers or landlords doing business with them. If you are a landlord looking to let out your property please AVOID them till you can. If you still think that Romans is the way to go then make sure you understand renewal cost and any administration fees they will charge. From my experience the level of service is really bad and costly. They communicate with me only when they need something and all you get is access to online account management site for £140 a month.Unfortunately monthly management fee is not all they deduct. There is also around £50 for "Romans RLP Fee 3.00%" and "Deposit Protection Fee".I'm leaving them. Too many bad things happened to me.

TrustpilotAvoid renting with Romans at all cost !
I have rented a property in Frimley Green from Romans Estate Agents from August 2016 till January 2018.I had to pay 1 month upfront £2000 plus £4000 for deposit, so £7,411.82 in total, including 1,180.99 of admin fees!!!!! At the beginning of the tenancy whereas we were moving in, the former tenants warned us. ‘You will be robbed by romans and the landlord as the end of the tenancy as we did. They will do everything in their power to get some more money from you’ they said. They were right !Moved out 4 weeks ago after caring for the property as if my own and receiving glowing monthly inspection reports during 1 and a half year on the state of the property. The rent was always paid on time and I had inspections every 6 months through the whole time so they were aware the house was always spotless. Now after chasing 4 weeks after moving out, no action had been taken by the agency whatsoever to progress release of deposit.I’ve had to beg them sending emails every single day.Charges were recommended to landlord by Romans for deposit retention on checkout for 2 minor points, these are several hundreds of pounds which are disproportionate. The icing on the cake, as recommended by the tenancy, I had a professional cleaning at the end of the tenancy for everything, carpet included with invoice, sent it but they decided it wasn’t good enough. They also charged us £5 for a ‘crack’ on one of the freezer drawer due to the frost (not us), whereas the fridge delivered at the beginning of the tenancy was ridiculous (small fridge for a 4 bedroom house). The fridge also was broken at the beginning of the tenancy, no one warned us, we lost £250 of food! Then because we didn’t cut the grass when we moved out (winter and frost, even snow at the end of December) and our lawnmower was electric they charged us £280 for the garden. My surprise was that Romans also gave me bad references. The letting agency I’m dealing with now asked me for my statements because they spotted something was wrong. How could you live in a property without paying the rent?During the tenancy my gazebo has also been broken by one of their contractors who cleaned the windows. … The landlord replied with a deduction of £15 for a broken gazebo LOL ! We of course didn’t agree with that! During the check-out process I mentioned about the gazebo. They replied by threatening me. This is the copy and paste of the email :I have advised your former landlord that you will only accept the deposit deductions in the event that he compensates you £150 for the damaged gazebo. Your landlord does not agree this, and has advised that if the deductions are not accepted, he will be seeking additional deductions for damage to the walls, to the grass, to a blind in the study and a larger amount for the worktop. He will be advising me of revised figures for the schedule over the weekend. Once I am in receipt of these figures I will amend the draft schedule and forward it to you.Of course this is not true. And I can prove it! In fact I just discovered that they uploaded new pictures of the house to rent it after the end of our tenancy and the walls actually are spotless. So avoid renting with Romans, 1star is even too good for them. If there was an option to give 0 stars I would. Even if all is done by the letter, you won’t get your full deposit back!

TrustpilotRomans Property Manager Feedback
Romans have managed my rental property for a number of years now. I have such a fantastic property manager in Kimberley Garcia Jones who is always on hand to sort any issues for me & the tenants large or small. She has seamlessly managed a number of issues over the past year with a professional and friendly approach, liaising with a number of different parties. She is a credit to Romans, please pass on my thanks for all of her support.

TrustpilotDREADFUL EXPERIENCE!!!…
Dreadful company to deal with in my experience!!I rented a property in Winchester from this company and at the end of the tenancy, was horrified to be accused of being responsible for causing damage to the house that was already present at the beginning of the tenancy!! I could not sign the original inventory document, as there were numerous defects and oversights at the property, not listed within the document. I was told by Jane Darling (property maintenance manager) having emailed the company with my concerns, that the only deduction from my deposit would be for cleaning, which I understand is standard practice with this company, no matter how well cleaned the house was, however an additional sum was deducted of around £130.00 for damages that were already present at the beginning of the tenancy!! I had properly looked after the house during my tenancy and even had the overgrown front garden landscaped with log roll and forest bark to finish, at my own expense. There was also a significant damp problem not listed within the inventory and no central heating at the house, which I understood was be rectified, but sadly, having been told by Jane Darling that electric 'storage' heaters were to be fitted, they were not forthcoming, merely uneconomical low price convector heaters were screwed to the walls. It has honestly been an utter shambles dealing with the property maintenance department of the Winchester branch of Romans, hence the reason I terminated my tenancy at the earliest opportunity!!PLEASE THINK VERY, VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE RENTING A PROPERTY FROM THIS AGENT, ITS BEEN A TOTAL NIGHTMARE!!!

TrustpilotAvoid avoid avoid
From start to finish with Romans it has been horrendous. We wanted to move in on the date they had advertised on their website due to both starting new jobs however we got a call to say that is needed to be delayed by 5 days due to electricity and gas inspection and cleaning the property. This was incredibly annoying but not as much as when we were finally handed the keys to move in the flat was filthy and had not been cleaned at all. I went through the complaints procedure and managed to get compensation money and a written email that we were able to leave the flat in the same condition how we found it. Now our tenancy is over and Romans have still not given us our deposit back. They tried to charge £250 in professional cleaning costs even after I uploaded evidence. Romans hugely lack communication within their company and I honestly cannot say a positive thing about our experience with them. I honestly advice anyone to avoid them.

TrustpilotWe sold our first property with Romans…
We sold our first property with Romans Bracknell last year in October. In a time when selling was very difficult, our agents did not falter and kept our confidence up through months of uncertainty. We never struggled to make contact with our agent and we were consistently kept up-to-date with the situation. They even dealt with a psycho who played around with making an offer and pulling out at the last minute because of the stamp duty increase with tact and professionalism. We then went on to secure an even higher offer the next time!

TrustpilotAVOID AT ALL COST
AVOID AT ALL COST. If you can avoid using Romans Sunningdale as your lettings agent and property manager, please do. Despite paying them over GBP 700 per month, we have had to do most of the work ourselves and in order to get Romans to do anything at all we have needed to chase violently a number of times. Any proactivity on their side is completely absent and their complacency has put our property at risk several times - e g not tending to leaking pipes with urgency or leaving keys / fobs at the property during viewings. We asked Romans for a partial refund of the management fees due to the extremely poor service. We were promised three months' compensation which they then wiggled out of on the basis a technicality. We are deeply embarrassed on their behalf and will never use Romans Sunningdale again. AVOID AT ALL COST AS YOU'LL GET NOTHING BUT EXCUSES.

GoogleI wanted to say a big thank you for our recent house sale and purchase through the Camberley branch. With many factors being counter-productive to a quick move, Sean was particularly focused and in tune with the local market to advise us to make price changes to help build the chain and it worked very well. The house photographs were very effective and this helped get potential buyers into the property. Sean and his team were very helpful, professional and in particular for this chain, patient. Although it took 12 months to complete the sale I don't think we would have made it without their advice and guidance.

GoogleMy wife & I sold our house through Romans Camberley Branch. We found them to be understanding of our needs & they were prompt, efficient & professional in putting all paperwork in place to get our house onto the market. All viewings were well organised by the team at Romans Camberley Branch & they found us a buyer quicker than we expected within 4 weeks of going on the market. The whole team & process headed up by branch manager Sean was excellent & they are very motivated to do well & we would be happy to recommend them to others.

GoogleWe are selling our property with Romans in Camberley having sold a previous property with another branch. They are very responsive to our needs and act well on our behalf having valued it (consistently and in line with other local estate agents) on two occasions before we marketed the property. Instructing them was simple and pain-free and Jordan was very personable and professional. The photos was amazing and the property was marketed quickly. It's hard to comment much on the agents who attending the one viewing an open day as we obviously went out, but the property was sold at open day so that is to their credit in part. Overall I have found them to act quickly and professionally in our sale and whilst the sale has not gone through yet, I would recommend them to friends and family based on my experience so far.

GoogleI was in a position where I had to downsize my house. I got in touch with Romans as they had successfully sold a house in my road.
First contact with Sean Egan was very positive and he showed a lot of empathy towards my circumstances. I asked for one to one personalised service and built up a great relationship with Ryan Cooper and we worked very closely together. Ryan showed me round all the viewings I requested and nothing was too much trouble.
Both Sean and Ryan kept me informed on a regular basis and were professional and helpful at all times.
I would thoroughly recommend Romans of Camberley and will not hesitate to use them again.
Thanks Sean and Ryan and the whole team at Romans for making a difficult process much easier.

TrustpilotA Very Grateful Tenant
Like many, I've had a very tough year and to make things worse I have had a lot of problems with the flat that I am renting. However, I have been very lucky to have a wonderful property manager in Lisa Fazal who has been exceptional. She has been superb in correspondence with myself and my landlord - polite, friendly, fast-acting and understanding. Romans have been excellent throughout my tenancy and I have always felt at ease asking them for help, guidance and support.
