AVOID AVOID AVOID

I recently moved into a property in Bristol city centre and have found the experience incredibly disappointing and unprofessional for the following reasons, and would recommend anyone considering renting a property through Romans to avoid it. 1. On moving into the property, we quickly noticed the lock on the back door of the property was broken with a missing door handle, so the door constantly sits ajar, and therefore we have been unable to secure the property. We consider this issue to be extremely urgent as our property is a ground floor flat, and in a high footfall area of Bristol, which makes it unsafe and a target. After reporting the issue to Romans, we became aware that they had known about this issue for over 6 months, and had still chosen to go ahead and rent the property out being fully aware of the broken door, and the property being unsecurable. When we requested a repair we were told that we needed to take the issue up with the maintenance team of the building as it was nothing to do with Romans as the maintenance team are liable for the repair - despite the fact we rent the property through Romans. The building maintenance team have since told us it won't be fixed for a minimum of 3 months. We have found this situation very distressing since my housemate, is a female who is often alone in the property for prolonged periods of time. Unfortunately, it appears Romans wants to take no responsibility for the fact they let a property which wasn't securable and that we need to follow this issue up with the building management company instead. 2. The property was advised as furnished and on viewing the property it was confirmed that items such as the kitchen table, cabinets and curtains would remain. However, when we moved into the property key furniture such as the kitchen table, curtains, and chest of drawers had all been removed. We have since been told they had mistakenly advertised the property as furnished and it should have been shown as part-furnished. Unfortunately, due to this false advertising we are now without key furniture in the property which we were led to believe would be present. As two young professionals, who have very busy work lives, I would strongly recommend anyone to avoid renting through Romans as their willingness to resolve immediate safety issues and honesty appears to be non-existent.

I rented with Romans once and never…

I rented with Romans once and never will again. They were nice and helpful to get me moved in then when I moved out tried to scam me out of my deposit with made up cleaning fees. They were rude when corresponding with me, and when I asked for the images from my flat to be sent so I could check the metadata on the images to make sure they were actually photographed after my tenancy I was ignored. Speaks for itself really. I agreed to pay half of the fees and asked for a copy of the full receipt. All I was sent was a hand written note with my half of the fee, no evidence of the full fee being paid by them. Liars!

Disrespectful and unhelpful staff

I enquired about a few properties for rent through Rightmove, and they were prompt at giving me a call. Unfortunately, I missed the initial phone call so I gave them a call back within 5 minutes. The first person I talked to was disrespectful and unwilling to help. The call quality sounded like I was on speaker (and I heard laughter in the background which coincided with my responses). A few mintues after the call ended, I decided to try again, hoping the first time was a misunderstanding, but I recived similar treatment again from another agent who took a mocking tone and then abruptly ended the call.

Very rude and unprofessional staff

Visited the Roman staines branch 1st July 2026 around 1pm (please note: staff member at the till, South Asian, slim build) and was disappointed by the service. I asked her whether a trouser style from the website was in stock, showing her a photo. She didn't look at the photo, gave a quick "no," and when I asked where I might find it, she kept looking at her screen without engaging further. I had to suggest "online?" myself, to which she gave a vague "maybe" without making eye contact. As someone from a similar background myself, this made the lack of basic courtesy feel even more disappointing, I'd expect better regardless of who's behind the till, but especially wasn't expecting to feel brushed off this way. I'd expect more attentiveness and willingness to help with a simple stock query.

If I could leave 0 stars I would . The continous lies from this agency is appalling. They are money hungry and VERY unprofessional. Rude attitude from Zara continously from the start to the end of my tenancy . I couldn’t ever have a conversation over the phone or in person without her disgusting attitude. They’ll promise you a property and give it to someone else and when you check out they will take the stupidest photos of dust ,to ask you to pay MORE money as it’s not “clean enough”. Save yourself the hassle and don’t even bother with them . Zara I suggest you learn how to talk nicely with your clients and not shout or give attitude .

Romans Lettings Bracknell - Ridiculously Poor Service

I had a terrible experience dealing with the lettings team in Romans, Bracknell. They treated my requests and queries with apathy and never gave me any type of full answer to very basic questions and avoided some queries I raised. I had to work extremely hard to get answers and had to eventually go through their complaints process and even that took two attempts for me to get a full and comprehensive reply. I asked the lettings team to forward a letter to the landlord, they didn’t do it and I got no apology, just uncaring and unbothered short replies. Even when I raised queries up to senior management, they could not grasp what I was asking and again gave me glib and blunt replies and sometimes did not reply at all.
