In simple words, awful …

Absolutely disappointed with the service from Romans. After being told repeatedly for over six months that they had buyers interested in our bungalow, I decided to give them a chance, even lowering our asking price by £50K for a quick sale based on their assurances. Despite all the promises, not a single viewing was arranged. Communication was terrible, and it felt like they did nothing beyond just listing the property on Rightmove, something anyone can do for a fraction of the cost.Professionalism was lacking from the start; the agent took pictures using his phone, which were then used in the marketing. It felt like there was no effort on their part to actively market our property or follow up with potential buyers. If you’re considering Romans, be cautious. Ask for guarantees on the number of viewings they’ll arrange, or you’ll likely end up wasting your time as we did.

Kim Stockley, Sam Morton and the wider team are excellent. I have rented for 5yrs in Windsor and felt well looked after by the team. It helps that I am not a problem tenant and have a responsive landlady. The team are always very helpful and have been great ever since I handed my notice in. Special shout out to Kim for working late on the day I served notice and to Sam for organising the viewings around my move, my pet and busy lifestyle.

our experience with the Farnham office…

our experience with the Farnham office wasn’t good. They valued our house and tied us into a 21-week contract only to tell us 2 months later that based on viewer feedback and current market, they believe our house is worth 35k less then originally marketed, and 15k less then the reduction in price we’d already made. We have a 3 bed semi detached, and they tried telling me we should price to that of a 2 bed property, or another area such as church crookham, which made no sense to me as were a 3 bed in Farnham. At the same time charters advertised an identical property to ours (as we’re a new build development) at the same price as the original valuation price, something which Romans advised made no sense as they won’t sell it, which they did sell. I had 2 other agents value the property and provide market report and confirmed the price they were pushing us towards didn’t match that of a 3 bed semi in Farnham so didn’t understand the logic. When we requested to get out the contract as they no longer believe in their own valuation and therefore are not the right agents for us, we had some very unprofessional and heated conversations telling us we’re going to have to just take it off the market. At the time these conversations were happening we did receive an offer, one that they agreed to a sale price of 7k more then that of the price Romans wanted us to reduce to, only confirming they were incorrect. They then went and advertised our neighbouring property, also a 3 bed semi, only marginally bigger which was originally 30k more when sold by the developer, at 140k more then the price they told me mine was worth. This further confirmed to me they value properties at a much higher price to win business, before pushing you to reduce the price in order to sell it. We also found out from our buyers they lied and stated I was pregnant with another due imminently and needed a swift sale, I’m not pregnant nor had we yet found anywhere to go, but they failed to communicate to us our buyers required a quick move and therefore the sale has now fallen through because they can’t wait any longer, both us and our buyers are dissatisfied with their service.

Kim Stockley Romans

Kim Stockley has been my property manager for the past five years. She is extremely professional kind and informative keeping me up to date with everything. My property is fully managed and it’s a very seamless rental due to Kim’s expertise and experience. All the team at Romans are amazing nothing is to much trouble and thanks to Kim and Sam the letting manager who is also absolutely amazing I have let my property out again after my tenant gave her notice. An agency you should avoid

An agency you should avoid. At the beginning of our contact, I specified that I wanted to rent and pay a deposit, but they selected the "no deposit option" for me to pay them a monthly fee. I have now terminated my contract with them and am having problems getting my deposit back. They are looking for all kinds of reasons to charge me extra. They said they found a problem with the refrigerator and it will cost me £160 to repair, and a similar refrigerator costs about £100-120 new. I cleaned everything impeccably, and they are asking me for money for another cleaning and moth treatment. They were not interested in contacting me after check-out to present the situation to me. However, I have never seen this report. I contacted them three times in three weeks, and they barely responded. I recommend you avoid this agency.

Another discriminating estate agent

Another discriminating estate agent who aim their rental property adverts at the working class only. They're currently advertising a one bedroom detached house on Osborne Mews, Windsor, SL4 for £1,750 and they're stipulating to me in their property description that a potential tenant must have an income of £54,600. Now, given my calculation, if I was to pay 12 months rent, that would equal £21,000 which is £33,600 less than the £54,600 Romans demand! How is somebody dictating to me how they think all my other outgoing costs are going to equal £33,600!? Romans know full well anybody registered disabled isn't going to be earning £54,600 so yet again another advert aimed at the working class and further discrimination by another estate agent. Stupidity at it's best. Of course, Romans defence story to get them off the hook will be "we don't set this policy, a third party referencing company does" yes, maybe so but it's Romans who opt to have a referencing company to vet their potential tenants where other referrencing companies will have less harsher criterias dictating where somebody vulnerable can and can't live so the majority of the blame is on Romans and from now on every estate agent I see doing this will be exposed. I hope Romans end up going out of business.

Looking to place a studio apartment on the market. Was put through to a guy called George. He was, in my opinion, very rude and obviously did not want to be dealing with such a small property. When I asked the selling fees, he asked how would I be choosing which agent to go with. When I said, probably the cheapest, he said “It won’t be us then”. Basically that was the end of.

Avoid this agent, Poor maintenance and unfair deposit claims

This is related to their sub-company moginie james (Roath-cardiff). Negligent service from day one. We reported serious health and safety issues including mould, faulty windows, and broken doors/fencing, yet the agent offered zero assistance. Despite the deteriorating state of the property, they consistently raised the rent. To make matters worse, they provided an inaccurate check-out report that contradicted the initial inventory just to withhold our deposit. Totally unprofessional and misleading, save yourself the trouble and avoid them.

Exceptional Estate Agent: I have just been to a property viewing, with intent to buy, with Imogen Seymour at Romans. Both I and my sister wanted to share our appreciation for the excellent guided tour, highly informed and genuinely lovely chat we had. We have rented with Romans before for nearly a decade and now house hunting to buy Romans have been standout above other Estate Agents. I don't tend to write reviews but wanted to recognise Imogen for all her help. She was so enthusiastic, compassionate to the seller and agile in managing the multiple viewings with ease. We really felt in safe hands without any pressure and confidence, important to us as we have been shaken by other Estate Agencies and a property purchase that fell through at a late stage. In the future, if we sell a property we will come to Romans first.

I was recently a tenant in a property that was managed by Romans.Unfortunately at the end of tenancy , there was a dispute regarding the deposit between landlord and myself.Isabella York who managed property , supported me through this , all the way to the end result.Isabella is professional , knowledgeable in her field of practice. The attempt to market my property was quite complex before my meeting with Tim from Romans. I had previously been misled. Tim arrived at my home to provide me with a valuation of my home. The information provided by Tim was concise and informative. A full explanation was given regarding the process from start to finish and I was made aware of my options. I was even given information which had not been previously shared by other estate agents.
