Brown and Merry Watford have been amazing from our first contact with them. Hanan from valuations was professional, responsive and very insightful, she got our house up and online very quick. Jake from sales managed to sell the house without any official viewings for asking value which was incredible! Jamie has been superb throughout the process. 6 months of negotiations (no fault of B+M) and countless set backs did not discourage Jamie and he was always keeping us in the loop as well as providing useful updates. Without him and B+M I am confident the sale would not have gone through and I cannot thank the team enough for all the work they have put into our case. Couldn't recommend highly enough!

"FIXED FEE" warning

I want to highlight Brown and Merry's contractual fee. It is a fixed fee based on the value your property goes on the market, not the value you sell your property at which could be several thousands lower. This was not made aware to us so we got a bill for several hundreds after completion.

Sophie Terry what a star!!!

I don't usually write reviews. This is my first one but i had such an amazing experience I have to share it.Me and my partner we were looking for a property to rent.I contacted several agencies as you do. But Brown and Merry Aylesbury stand out. Especially the letting agent Sophie Terry. She proactively helped us to find right property and suggested properties which were great fit but we did not considered them when doing zoopla search. I used brown and Merry after a very messy divorce on the orders of the court, Edward, Martin and a few other staff were extremely friendly helpful and understanding of the situation that we were in. After trying two other estate agents which to be honest my ex made it extremely hard for them to sale it, the court order was then with Brown and Merry who took on the mantle having to go through what the ex put the other estate agents through. But they perceived and got us a lovely couple to buy the property again who went through hell and back to get the house, I can understand her not wanting to sell but this was the order so a big thank you to Martin, Edward and the team at Brown and Merry from all your effort truly appreciate it all Regards Ian

The team at Brown and Merry is fantastic. I have used them for many years to find tenants for my rental properties and can highly recommend Nicole Pringle. She is so helpful and knowledgeable and always finds me great tenants. If I ever have any questions Nicola is always on hand to answer - she is full of enthusiasm and goes the extra mile to help me. Rachel their mortgage advisor is the same and I would recommend her to anyone seeking a mortgage. Recently I have also used the sales department both for selling and looking for a property to purchase and everyone on that team has been so helpful - can't mention everyone's name but suffice to say I recommend them all!

I have recently let a property in Lark Vale, Watermead with Brown & Merry. The easiest 5 stars I've ever rated someone. Having seen how Brown & Merry operates from a letting point of view, this is an agent you want to let your house. All the letting team were brilliant. Right from the my meeting with Sophie at B&M I knew they were the agent for me. Cathy Lawless was exceptional helpful in every way. She is such a lovely person and always goes the extra mile to help. Cathy and her letting team looked after my let and kept me informed of progress throughout the whole process. From the moment of getting in contact with Brown and Merry, they have been so helpful which is so refreshing as I have dealt with estate agents in the past which have been awful. Originally was going to rent out my property, and the rental team were so friendly and helpful but ended up selling my property and can say Charlotte has been so helpful throughout the process, chasing the chain and keeping me updated which was such a huge thing for me as I needed to know what was going on at all times. Brown and Merry will say almost anything to get you to take a property. Sadly, once I’d moved in, their management was hopeless.During my tenancy I had revamped and redecorated the house. It was pristine when I left. I had the place professionally cleaned, I’d weeded the garden and pruned the plants. I have photos which show the house was spotless.Yet, Brown and Merry wanted to deduct £550 from my deposit.Which is a lot of money.I asked why.They said the garden needed tidying. Yet their quote included time for tidying the lawn. Fair enough. Except that trimming it may prove difficult: it’s an artificial lawn. Made of plastic.After months of fruitless chasing I still don’t have my deposit back. Or any good reason why it’s being held back.My contact at Brown and Merry, Hannah Newman, has been almost completely unhelpful. With perhaps one exception: she advised me to take my complaint to the Tenancy Deposit Scheme as “they will adjudicate this out fairly”. Which is more than Hannah or Brown and Merry have managed. So I’ve taken her advice. I’ve lodged a complaint with the industry ombudsman.I have also been in touch with Brown and Merry’s director, Mandy Horspole, but she didn’t help either. She simply begged me not to speak to the property's landlord. Which suggests they value some of their customers, just not their tenants.I’d say, if you value your rental deposit, STAY AWAY!--A postscript: I challenged Brown and Merry via the Tenancy Deposit Scheme and managed to get 100% of my deposit back.

After my usual agent unfortunately let me down with staffing problems I contacted an agent I’ve had dealings with before only to be told the market is slow, tenants are scarce and they couldn’t visit the property for over a week to carry out initial inspection. I needed a new agent to take care of my portfolio of Aylesbury properties. I contacted Sophie and Nicole. I was away at the time but they collected the keys from my old agent and inspected same day. It was on Rightmove straight away and around 10 viewings took place within a week. A suitable tenant was found and has now moved in. Thanks Sophie and Nicole. Energetic, proactive, caring, attentive, diligent, positive and reliable. I’ll be using you guys for the rest of the portfolio from now on. Having experienced dealings with 6 letting agents in the town to date, no other firm comes close to the service provided by Brown and Merry.

I don’t think they even bother to read reviews. They let my property to a tenant who paid 6 months in advance. After 5 months she asked to change to monthly rent payments. A smaller agency would have sorted this out within a week. These people have had 6 weeks and nothing happened. Their departments don’t talk to each other. Just like a Franz Kafka novel.
