Terrible

Same review I've left on Google: Really don't recommend them as they have no idea about the property they're selling, the viewing agent knows even less and they don't even have the decency to clean the property they're selling. Not to mention that throughout the process they keep trying to force you to work with their advisors. Next time I'd go for nestledin, butchers or any other agency who respects their buyers enough to at least welcome them to a clean property. As a date I'm selecting the 10th of July as that's the time we got our keys.

Extremely Disappointing Experience - Stay away!

My experience with William H Brown has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. We initially approached them to rent a property for a 6-month period, only to discover later that the contract we signed was actually for a year. This information wasn't clarified until I proactively reached out to them at the 5-month mark to inquire about the next steps.Throughout our tenancy, we encountered numerous issues with the flat, but the most concerning problem was the recurring leaks in the main bathroom. The first leak prompted an engineer's visit, which appeared to address the issue temporarily. However, the second leak occurred in the same bathroom, leading to further damage. Both the bathroom carpet and adjacent corridor were soaked, and even the walls suffered water damage.The response from William H Brown was to remove the bathroom carpet and leave behind an industrial-sized fan and dehumidifier, instructing us to run them as much as possible. We complied with their instructions diligently for an entire month, then two, and even three, yet received no communication or updates from them.Eventually, after three months of enduring this situation, we were informed that the landlord intended to repossess the property for repairs. However, just before our departure, a representative from William H Brown approached us, suggesting that we stay in the property due to the challenges we had endured. This was an incredibly insensitive proposal, considering the prolonged inconveniences we had faced.Not only did they leave us with an unusable bathroom filled with machines and cut pipes, but they also left the flat without carpets, exposing metal fixtures where the carpets used to be attached. Despite being unable to use the bathroom for three months, no rent reduction was offered.To make matters worse, even after vacating the apartment for a month, we have yet to receive a refund for the electricity consumed by the industrial machines they left behind. Our attempts to contact them have been met with empty promises of returned calls, further adding to the unprofessional and distressing experience.In conclusion, my encounter with William H Brown has been marked by a lack of professionalism, poor communication, and an utter disregard for tenant well-being. The entire situation has caused significant stress and frustration. Based on this experience, I would strongly advise against considering their services.

For 3 years I contacted WHB to sort out the severe and dangerous damp in my property. Nothing was done. It took 18 months to fix a hole in the roof, which no doubt contributed to this issue, as my ceilings fell in during the work on the roof. I made many improvements to the garden, including spending THOUSANDS on the severely overgrown garden. On my departure, I was accused of contributing to the damp (this was an issue from the OUTSIDE of the home) and that I owed them hundreds. They caused stress and anxiety to me during my letting experience. I found the dealings with them to be underhand, unprofessional and several health and safety regulations are ignored. They want to make a profit, be it by fair means or foul. Their customer care and attention to the welfare of their tenants needs some serious improvement!

Underhand

I tried to sell a property through this company at auction and they had some very interesting views on the value. I said I would take my business elsewhere and the next day the local branch phoned me to try to get me to get the property put on the general sales market through their branch. I politely refused because their actions were very underhand. They have rung me weekly for a year since in one guise or another trying to get my business.

William H Brown - Scunthorpe. Initially , friendly staff but as time elapsed it became evident they weren’t interested in my plight as a tenant. However it was only until very recently I realised that one staff member in particular considered it acceptable to make stuff up and frankly her motives in hindsight seem racist. It’s not a word I use lightly either. I would be very concerned if you were to rent a property with this company and specifically this branch. Whilst I have absolutely zero proof to validate my opinion , the overwhelming feeling I have as a result of dealing with this person’s lies isn’t going to go away in a hurry.

They lied to me when I questioned why the advert had not been removed, assured me time and time again that the property would not be shown and that no more offers would be allowed, and finally just a few weeks before completion called me to say that they had allowed and taken a bid under "auction conditions" and that unless I met with all terms of this including being prepared to pay the auctioneer fees and giving an immediate deposit and to close within 28 days including forgoing my solicitors input ( which was already weeks in progress) I would loose the purchase. I made a formal complaint but had no concrete evidence in writing and the staff at the Swaffham branch closed ranks, lied, and said that they had never assured me that my purchase was safe. It has cost me thousands of pounds because I have had to rent now while looking for another property.

Although they managed to let out all of our properties reasonably quickly, their property management was abysmal. They gave repair work to contractors who were expensive with very poor quality work. Sometimes they were the friends and family of the staff.We had to appoint a different property management company who now is far more reliable and trustworthy.

Over One Year for Nothing

Around one year ago, we were interested in a house and the seller A accepted our offer.Then after over half a year, almost all the procedures went through, the seller's solicitor stopped replying to our solicitor but reassured that they're sorting the last enquiry out.After one month, the estate agent contacted us that the seller declined to sell the house and the staff from the estate agent apologised quite sincerely. Someone senior from the estate agent gave some information of a similar property around the same area to us.We both found this house quite met our expectation so we expressed our interest and the house seller B accepted our offer within one week.As this house B is a no chain house, we expected the procedures can go through more quickly than last time. However, the enquiries have taken more than four months and there is still two outstanding enquiries. We did try to ask what the last two enquiries were but not getting any response.William H Brown is a liar as the house B suddenly becomes a chained property during the conveyancing process.

Harassment on another level

My wife provided my contact details to William H Brown on Rightmove when looking at a house we were interested in. When we explained our situation to them they said they would take my details off their records. 3 months on and I'm still getting weekly calls from them, even after saying under GDPR regulations I want them to remove all records they have of my personal information. I've decided now to report them to the ICO as enough is enough.

They show no remorse when they are caught red handed breaking their own rules. Their senior management and head office staff are like minded. This company is untrustworthy at every level.
