GoogleFor the purposes of this review, I will adopt the perspective of an amateur food critic, and (spoiler) the food was unpalatable.
Starting off strong was the starter: upon arrival to our deliciously derelict property, we quickly noticed that cleaning had not even been attempted. What a lukewarm welcome to an important chapter of my life. Under the excuse of a “one day turnaround” (which has nothing to do with me to be honest), they attempted to rectify the issue by- oh no wait, we had to clean the previous tenants mess; it quickly became apparent that they had a massive one before leaving.
I ought not to dwell, though, for many more horrors were yet to be served.
The main course, ineffective shower drainage causing floods unfortunately under seasoned in the pressure department, paired well with a spicy side of disabled and quite frankly dangerous appliances, and I simply knew this property would give me the runs.
Purple Frog must have known that I wasn’t full, as they generously continued to send more and more unresolved issues from the kitchen- too many to list- I was already stuffed! They must have taken inspiration from Disney’s Ratatouille too, as there certainly were a few Remy’s scurrying around outside for a long while.
Dessert was truly one to be admired. Now, as a student house, I personally would say it’s imperative to have a working internet connection you know, for exams and stuff. Purple Frog unfortunately don’t share this opinion, instead opting to respond to complaints with “wE rEcOmMeNd yOu sHoULd gEt eXtEnDeRs”- why is that my responsibility and you think I didn’t try?
After that had left a foul aftertaste, a freshly ground disorganised, poor administration espresso was offered. Inviting students to view the property and not turning up, leaving us to deal with the confused first years. Complimented, of course, with a biscotti of lies, claiming lateness due to traffic, among other primary school level excuses. And be warned, leaving your email will cause MASS spamming of the exact same email every single waking moment.
Finally, to my sweet Charlotte, our intuitive agent, our problem solving queen- thanks for your god-tier support through the pain we faced. You, as well as the rest of the team, will not be missed.
And to the landlord that owns this property- cheers boss, thanks so much. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy, but I truly hope one day you too are subjected to the conditions of your fishponds property. I think it would be an eye opening experience for you.

GooglePurple Frog’s Bec Price was incredibly helpful, personable and responsive to any queries me and my friends had whilst we sorted our tenancy contract; Purple Frog as a whole were also much better than any other estate agents we’ve interacted with. Would definitely recommend👍 …

GoogleWe had a problem with the Direct debit on a new student tenancy. I rang PF late on a Friday afternoon and spoke to Laurence who knew what he was talking about Ava was very helpful. He managed to deal with the problem- even volunteering to start after the pandemic office had closed to make sure the matter was sorted.
Excellent service and very polite and professional

GoogleCharlotte was so prompt in responding to my query. She not only responded but also gave me a link to view similar properties as the property I was interested in was no longer available. Thank you very much, Charlotte, for your professionalism.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

GoogleTerrible management and properties. Firstly, I agreed by email 3 weeks in advance to meet with someone outside the property to collect my keys and have a "checking in appointment". After my long trip (2 flights, a bus, and a train), I was certainly not happy to find no one was there. After 5 phone calls (3 of which went unanswered), I eventually had someone come and show me the place and give me the keys 2 hours later.
Upon my arrival I found my wardrobe only had 1 door, there were no lightbulbs, and there was no desk or chair in the room as advertised. I was able to take a desk and chair from another room which is empty, but obviously this is not ideal - especially if anyone else happens to move in. I also noticed that the floor of one of the bathrooms is in a rather bad state (see image) and the overall cleanliness of the flat is a zero. I have my doubts as to whether this flat was cleaned between tenancies.
There is also no Wi-Fi as advertised on the website. I suppose my university work will have to be done elsewhere? The other tenants also received no reply for 3 weeks. The bin room had failed to be emptied on multiple occasions, sometimes as long as 6 weeks and Purple Frog's property manager didn't visit the property for up to 6 months at a time.
I had to fight them in small claims court for my deposit back. They tried to charge me for a late payment when I never even made the payment. I suggest you do not pay these guys any rent as I did. They did not even have a permit with the council to rent the accommodation. The council was very interested in starting an investigation into this matter...
These are the lists of problems I encountered while I was in the property:
September:
•Dirty on arrival
•Missing and broken furniture
•Bathroom flooring wasn't fitted
•Broken towel rails, locks, handles
•No lightbulbs
•Mouldy sealants in kitchen and bathroom
•Blocked shower that floods bathroom
October:
•Spiceheads in doorway
•Fire alarms go off every week, no one to turn them off for 24 hours
•Druggie managed to get inside and sleep next to the mail
November:
•Previous issues from September now start to get solved
•Homeless people sleeping everyday in door, offering sex as rent (yes, really!)
December:
•Someone was stabbed in the doorway
•Road was closed by police due to terrorist hostage threat
January:
•No electricity because manager forgot to pay
•Bins haven't been collected in 6 weeks
February:
•Internet license expired, no net for 1 week
•Now there isn't enough bins, overflowing bin rooms
March:
•Housemates key broke in the flat door's lock, still broken as of August
April:
•Aggressive homeless people have gained access with the entry codes and broken the doors, "1 week" for the codes to be changed but they still haven't been changed...
•Multiple parcels stolen from the mail room, security cameras "don't provide playback" - just decorative
General:
•No cleaning supplies (vacuum, mop etc.)
•No WiFi
•No toaster/kettle/TVs
•Vibrations and music from both the nightclub and the strip club can be felt in multiple flats
•Whenever it's busy, people queuing to get into these clubs will use the doorway as a toilet (50x per week), the doorway and carpet inside the entrance stinks

GoogleThis review is for Laurence not purple frog as a whole. They've been really helpful and transparent with some confusion with my rent which is a contrast to how any other dealings with purple frog have been while renting from them after not getting replies or clear help for long periods of time. Hopefully this service continues. Thanks Laurence!

GoogleThe would highly recommend avoiding PURPLE FROG lettings agency at all costs! Especially as a student.
I have had the unfortunate pleasure of renting a house that was with purple frog this year, never have I experienced such incompetent lettings agents and difficulties regarding every possible liaison.
*when we moved into the house, the condition was a poor state of wear and tear also there was a large amount of rubbish at the property that took months to dispose of. This issue was reported to the lettings agency but nothing was done.
*No communication across the office staff regarding issues and staff change there so often that you have no idea who is in charge of what. When I have rung the agency to chase up matters previously ignored over email. I have found the staff to be very rude and patronising. Which has left me feeling rather dissatisfied given that I am supposed to be the customer.
*It has taken the agency over 6 weeks to resolve maintenance issues.
*Upon leaving property almost all tenants had over half of their deposits withheld either for damage caused by previous tenancies or for overly expensive unnecessary cleaning. Which I felt was criminal considering the condition of the house when we moved in.
* There has been no consideration taken into account for the fact that we have been in a national pandemic and tenants left the house suddenly. Leaving the house in the best possible condition and to a better standard than we found the house despite the fact they hadn't even provided us with a working hoover.
* Nothing was done about damp issues in the house, caused by blown rendering on the exterior of the property. Purple frogs solution was to wipe the walls with detol. The condition of the property was reported as unsafe for in habitation during a council inspection.
*purple frog also tried to charge us for the removal of fly tipped items despite the fact we reporting the issue at the beginning of tenancy.
*My lock malfunctioned and jammed late at night meaning I couldn't get into my room, initially purple frog refused to do anything about this. Even after I persuaded them to get out a locksmith hours later. They queried who should pay for it. They also tried to persuade me to put up with not having a new lock on my room, leaving my personal belongings at risk.
* Upon showing tenants around the house usually at last minute notice. My room was left unlocked, when i had previously locked it.
*fire safety issues left unresolved.
After your contract is signed Purple Frog will ignore you and offer a very bad service prioritising signing new tenancy contracts.
Purple frog will try to charge you for absolutely anything they can. So if you do end renting with them cover your back and report/photograph everything.
Purple frog also insist on using their own cleaners at the end of a tenancy and they have a policy whereby they wont give out keys to other cleaning companies. This is designed so that their cleaners can charge you whatever they please and have the monopoly on the situation.
Quite frankly a nightmare of a lettings experience.
No consideration for the tenants whatsoever and I feel they have been extremely unreasonable given the hard circumstances as of late regarding Coronavirus.
I for one will never use purple frog again.

GoogleOne year with Purple Frog Bristol was one year too many. The student property I lived in was a squalid, dirty and unpleasant place to live . Some team members of Purple Frog were helpful with repairs in the house, but on the most part they were rude and unhelpful. Their team changes so often matters are often forgotten and have to be re-explained. Viewings of your room were made without you knowing, leaving bedroom doors unlocked. The worst of all was their refusal to return my deposit after claiming that I had left the property in a terrible condition, even though this wasn't my doing. It took almost seven months to refund my deposit after an enormous amount of effort. Please try and persist in getting your deposit back even if they decline! Strongly do not recommend dealing with Purple frog.

GoogleAbsolutely appalling company. The house was below acceptable living standards, to name just a few reasons why: broken windows, a leaky roof, a literal hole in the floor in a bedroom, all the furniture was filthy/broken, the house wasn't cleaned before move in and staff take ages to get back to you about issues if they bother getting back to you at all. If you want to be miserable, cold and stressed then I'd recommend renting with purple frog, otherwise stay well away.

GoogleWe had 3 viewings today in Bristol which I organised with Lauren over the phone and she was so lovely and made the process easy to get through. Carla then showed us around the properties, answered all of our questions and was genuinely super helpful. She made the experience easy and enjoyable. Also, shoutout to Andy for being amazing!
