Challenging Sale.

Dealt with the Barkingside Office to sell my Mother's property as executor of her will. Used the "Best Bids" option and quickly had several offers. Unfortunately the purchaser, who was a cash buyer, caused all sorts of problems to everybody by his continual "stalling" tactics. It was frustrating to us, our solicitor and the agent; until Douglas Allen eventually forced his hand by finding another buyer.Overall, the service was good. I would especially praise Bilal Ahmed who we dealt with. He was very professional and helpful throughout the process.

Moving home was a big decision for us…

Moving home was a big decision for us but we wanted to be near our daughter, we met with several agents and then Jess came to see us and informed us of there Best Offers selling process. we opted for this and received 7 offers and achieved £10000 over the asking price which was £20000 what the other agents said. The whole team were great, James managed to negotiate our sale and with him and Jess by our sides it was no where near as stressful as we thought it would be.

Excellent service from Douglas Allen - East Ham office

My search as a first time buyer for a 1 bedroom apartment in East Ham and surrounding areas commenced in May 2017. As there were a few properties of interest advertised by Douglas Allen - East Ham Office, I visited their office several times and viewed several properties in my areas of interest. During several my visits I received a very cordial, friendly and efficient customer service from 3 staff members namely, Hasan Anwar, Natasha Facer and Maureen Grey. They also introduced me to the most brilliant, capable & friendly Mortgage Advisor named Faisal Noor of Mortgage Matters. I also received valuable advice and guidance from them during a long and tenuous search property search during which 2 properties I had 2 offers accepted which fell through due to sellers withdrawing at the 11th hour due to various reasons. I have finally been able to purchase a property at my third attempt!I will have no hesitation in recommending Douglas Allen - East Ham Office and in particular the 3 said staff members to any prospective property purchaser. I would also like to record my personal appreciation and thanks to the 3 named persons for the very personalised service I received from them which I felt went beyond their call of duty.

We've just completed our first house purchase and would like to thank Douglas Allen for their assistance during the process. They had a wide range of properties available for us to view, and showed real interest in finding a property which suited our requirements. The prices they were advertising were also fair and they weren't aggressive or pushy in their sales techniques, which can't be said for many of the other agents we spoke to around the same time!Trish and Sarah, thanks so much for your help lining up properties for us to view and for helping us to find our new house! I would highly recommend the Barkingside team for their professional service in marketing our property. We carried out analysis of three Estate agents two of which were high-street trading and one online before we entrusted the sale of our property to Douglas Allen. Their initial presentation, knowledge and experience team of agents provided an abundance of local sales knowledge and support throughout the selling process. We tried to sell our flat with an online agent, this fell through and so we went to Douglas Allen Walthamstow. Maria case round to see us on a Saturday, she extended her working day to make this convenient for us. She advised us of the right price, explained all the paperwork clearly and had viewings booked in within a few days. She had found us a buyer within two weeks. She then found us a perfect house to purchase and our offer has been accepted! We are now working with the team at the Walthamstow branch to make sure this all goes smoothly. Selling our house through Douglas Allen (Chingford)has run really smoothly from the moment Jess walked into our house and fully explained everything to us we opted for a 6 week sealed bids process to which Caitlin and Jake showed the viewings around on open days making it stress free for us as we had days out as a family. House sold at over asking price during first viewing

10/10 and exceeded expectations ! Having not sold a house for over 30 years we were very wary of Estate Agents. Especially when Matthew valued our house at far more than other agents, and the commission was also higher. However the Douglas Allen Web Site looked better than that of other agents, and working on the principle that you get what you paid for, we signed up for a sole agency with Katie. She was very patient and spent ages going through the options with us, ensuring we were happy.The third couple to view the property on the first weekend of viewing came back and made a good offer that we were pleased to accept. All conveyancing went promptly, helped along by dedicated Sales Progessor Tanya. We have now exchanged and will be completing at end of month. Can't believe it all went so well. Many thanks.

Walthamstow Branch: Not recommended. Bad experience.

When we first met Maria for our valuation we were initially impressed. She was chatty, lively and seemed like she cared about us and our desire to move to a bigger home (by selling our one). She valued our property at a comparable rate to the other two agents we met and, although the most expensive of the three, we decided that following our discussion her, Douglas Allen were the ones to work with us to sell our home. They even tempted us with an ‘early view’ of a property they thought we’d like. After that it went downhill.Despite putting a bid on the ‘early view’ property, nothing ever materialised. But they never told me the offer was rejected. It took multiple phone calls and chases for them to finally tell me that the owners were actually unlikely to sell. They talked up their ‘innovative’ online management system, where we could monitor feedback and bids, but we did not receive ONE call from them updating us post viewing. Not one. I had to call in for updates every single time and several times left messages that went unanswered, prompting further calls. Not good. Looking back, with hindsight, they also rushed us through the contract stage and although didn’t wilfully hide anything from us, were not very open about contract lengths, (5 MONTHS!) cooling off periods and fees (calculated as a % but then written in to the contract as a set fee). I had multiple ‘heated discussions’ with Maria about their lack of willing to work with us on property pricing. Whilst they kept telling us they thought we should drop the price of our property to get a sale, they weren’t willing to lower their fixed fee. I was expected to drop my house price by tens of thousands, but they were willing to budge on their fees. Not really collaborative. It only got resolved as we neared the contract end date and I threatened to see out the contract without dropping the price. All very stressful. Terms liked ‘threatened’, ‘unwilling’ ‘heated’ ‘stressful’ are the last things you want when selling your home. It’s stressfulEnough and a good estate agent can help mitigate that stress (or so I’ve heard). Working with Douglas Allen made the entire experience worse than it should have been. I would like to say the interactions I had with Ben Ryan, one of the agents who showed our house to people, were always positive and friendly and should he move to a different agency, I would happily work with him again. But that’s the only positive I can say. I honestly would struggle to recommend an estate agent less, and would strongly advise anyone considering to work with them to look at this review and consider their choice again.

I have dealt with a number of different estate agents when looking for a home, and i can honestly say Douglas Allen was, by far, better in every aspect. They remained professional and informative, which put me at ease thoroughout the entire process. Gizem in particular was helpful from the very first viewing all the way through to completion. She kept me posted throughout and made every extra effort to fit additional viewings around my busy schedule. I would also like to thank peter arrowsmith in hornchurch branch.We wasted a few months with a previous agent, very dissapoiting low viewers over the months. Then I changed to use Douglas Alan and another agent. My property had only 2 days of viewers then sold! So peter came along, very friendly, laid back, understanding, positive and professional. Each time I contacted him or had questions, he was very clear and helpful. People like him really does make a difference, not too serious, pressurised or being competitive, so more relaxed and trustworthy.In the end of the completion day, I was running so late 4pm to hand the keys over to him and he did not stress, complain or rush me at all, which definitely was a bonus!I really appreciate and very glad we had chosen Douglas Alan. Well worth that little bit more!

We are both 71 yrs old and were looking to buy and sell a house. By chance we walked into Douglas Allen's Chingford office. We had been told they might be a bit more expensive, but gave a good service. We were welcomed by a very friendly bunch of people who quickly put us at ease. They efficiently run through our options, and we settled for the one that best met our requirements. We are so pleased we choose this office, the service has been excellent from the start and the whole way through. The team are - Jake on front desk, courteous, polite, well dressed and a big smile, Jessica (Sales) super efficient, knowledgeable, informative, and very sympathetic to our needs, Natasha (co-ordinator & liaison) always on the ball, kept all parties well informed, she especially impressed the couple who's house we were buying. Great finishers

The Walthamstow real-estate agent that sold me our first ever home (summer 2017). While as first time buyers it took us a while to get a rhythm of the time frames involved, we quickly realised that Douglas Allen was doing an amazing job at managing a very awkward seller for us. Likewise the property would not have completed without the dogged efforts of their sales progressor Andrew Bilby who almost single handedly shepherded through a VERY complex restriction on title issue with the local borough and their representatives - going above and beyond to get the sale completed. Not always a easy journey but would recommend the East Ham and Walthamstow Douglas Allen team to anyone.
