We purchased a house through Douglas Allen and although solicitors and the legal process made it extremely stressful, the team at Douglas Allen were brilliant. It started with Ann-Marie making sure we visited ‘our house’ and finished with the indomitable Dawn going over and beyond to make sure we made the correct decision and was on-hand with any help or requests. Professional, helpful, friendly staff

This was my first experience of selling a property by auction. My initial contact was with Greg who did the valuation and explained the ins and outs of selling by auction. His team arranged the photographs, setting up the auction and viewings. They kept me informed of all viewing appointments as they became arranged and reported feedback where received. Staff were always friendly and helpful and dealt with any queries I had promptly. Special thanks to Phebi, Luke and particularly to Michelle, who went above and beyond to chase completion so it finally took place on the day, right before closing time.Well done everyone and thank you.

By far the worst Estate agent ever.

We went to view a house with Douglas Allen (Chadwell Heath branch) in December 2023 before the Christmas holidays. The house was advertised with 3 other agents but I chose Douglas Allen because a while back, a young chap by the name of Bilal Arbi who works for Douglas Allen was really helpful in supporting me with an offer I had made on a property back in September, but I wasn’t successful in securing the property. To cut a long story short, for the house I went to view in December 2023, Douglas Allen only accepted my offer after doing something called an “offer qualification”, a disguise of where they force you to have a meeting with their in house mortgage advisor, to underhandedly force you to take out a mortgage with them. This is unethical and immoral- I’ve dealt with other estate agents before and they’ve never operated in such a way. Nevertheless I sat through this meeting and then eventually after a few days the seller accepted my offer but I had to increase it by £7000. I made the biggest mistake doing this. After accepting my offer, the seller still kept the house on the market with other agents because he was hoping to secure higher offers than mine. The property has tenants who are council tenants of 10 years and the seller is struggling to remove them. Despite knowing this I went ahead with good intentions to buy this house, giving Douglas Allen the benefit of the doubt that they are doing everything they can to push the seller to remove the house off the market and remove the tenants. I did my mortgage application and surveyors were sent to survey the property. After my mortgage went through, 2 days later I find out from Tanya Keene, their Sales Progressor, that the seller had issued a Section 21 to the tenants but they refused to move. She then went on to say the seller would need to get a court eviction order to forcibly remove the tenants which could take up to 6-9 months, all in the while upholding the notion that the seller had no idea that his tenants were council tenants! I couldn’t believe the utter nonsense she was spouting- Tanya claimed she had no idea about what the seller was up to and in the telephone conversation I had with her, she was taking the seller’s side and making excuses for him that he’s naive and innocent in all of this. I am very disappointed that they allowed a surveyor to survey the house, which I paid a sum of over £500 for the surveyor cost the property, knowing full well that the sale of this house will not complete any time soon. I had already instructed solicitors and paid an £800 deposit for them to start their checks, but the seller was doing nothing from his side to make this sale happen. This is all down to Douglas Allen’s carelessness- they should’ve done more to understand this seller’s motives. As a result, I lost a lot of money and so much of my time was wasted on this one property which I had set my heart on. Also, one of their Sales Negotiators, Samuel Stephens, as nice as he was, he seemed very ill informed on the entire process of processing offers. He had initially asked me to send over my payslips, P60, 3 months bank statements and much more for simply making an offer on a house? This was then looked into by the mortgage advisor who herself admitted Samuel was not supposed to ask for this much information and that the offers are supposed to be emailed to someone more senior than him, and that he will be told to delete the sensitive files I sent over to his email. After I had withdrawn my offer for this property, they put the house back on the market, knowing full well there are sitting tenants in the property who will not be vacating the property anytime soon. This shows they have no reservations in deceiving people. This is a very poor reflection of Douglas Allen and I would advise anyone to steer well clear of them!

Positive Experience - Outstanding Sales Progressor

I bought with them and have now sold with them 4 years later and Natasha has been incredible. She’s kept me sane through my stressful moments and has been on the ball throughout! I’m not sure I’d have got through it without her and she is an absolute asset and Douglas Allen are very lucky to have her on their team! My partner and I have been looking for a property to rent in London. We came across a property that we were really interested however it took a long time for us to hear a feedback from the Landlord and thought we wouldnt be getting the property. We were surprised when we received a call from them updating us and recommending another property that is to our liking. We didnt expect for them to be very proactive, helpful and really good communicators. We appreciate there help so much. We then have an interest to another property and went through the referencing process. We thought it was really tedious process but they were very supportive. When we had some questions they were really quick to pick up the phone and help us with our queries especially Jodie. She was a very lovely person. We then had to back out in renting the property due to some personal reasons. When we explained to them they were very understanding. They still supported us and continued to be good communicators. Over all our experience to the team was very pleasant. Kuddos to Jodie, Joana and Luisa who were very helpful and are very lovely people.

The reason I dropped in at the Branch was I was very impressed by the great customer service I received 4 years ago when I purcahsed my first property. Incompetent! The sale of my property was poorly handled from the moment I recieved an offer. The managing director of the branch was extremely unpleasant to deal with and a bully. The sales progressor had no idea what was going on at any stage of the transaction regularly giving me wrong information. There was no duty of care for my best interests. Avoid them at all costs.

How do you describe the effort of a single individual in a few words? I cannot emphasise the gratitude that I have for Rosalie Kurton. She is the SINGLE reason that I am a homeowner today. Unfortunately, Douglas Allen and my solicitor J.S LAW have failed to keep me well informed or up-to-date over the past few months and in particular the last two weeks of my purchase. Rosalie however, was the ONLY person who ALWAYS answered my calls and replied to my e-mails. She would call my solicitor and my local branch regularly to keep escalating my queries on my behalf. Where others failed to maintain professionalism and lacked enthusiasm, Rosalie was able to keep both her and my head above the water at all times. On occasions, I had almost given up on the sale and decided to take my custom elsewhere. It was her persistence and hard-working ethic that led to the completion of this purchase. Douglas Allen- Brentwood BranchFrom beginning to end were brilliant!This is from the moment my husband and I made an appointment with an agent for valuation to end the blessed completion and exchange.We had every confidence that Reece who made the valuation that they would be the ones to sell our house. When we agreed to sell via them it was swift and to be fair a whirl wind! Photographer was organised and house on the website in no time.We had an offer after only 1 week and a half.Agents who showed viewers around were considerate.They worked with us to ensure they would not disturb our usual days. When we came back home after the viewings it was like no-one was there.Not a footprint in the house :))All agents at the office including Rosalie, Donna, Jaydon and Nick were very helpful to update.They are all gems with information in front of them.For anything viewing results, appointments, questions about sale were answered within the day. A long process but worth it in the end

I recently sold my 1 bed flat in Brentwood through Douglas Allen in Brentwood. I accepted my buyers offer in June, but I had a solicitor who was beyond useless and did 0% for 6 weeks! I changed solicitors and things started to progress. Rosalie at the Brentwood office held the sale together by keeping the buyers in the loop, as there solicitor was initially not very communicative and then became very slow. At times I almost began to lose faith, but I must commend Rosalie on her professionalism and honesty throughout the process. My buyers urgently needed a completion by 30 sept to avoid additional stamp duty and I just wanted the process completed as it had dragged on so long.My solicitors were great in the end and I assisted in obtaining documents too, but eventually on the very last day 30 sept 21 it all completed !! I can highly recommend using Douglas Allen and their staff have always been polite and professional and answer the phone, useful.!Thanks to Rosalie Kurton for all your help, and good luck in your career with Douglas Allen.Julie.

I cannot recommend enough the great team at the East Ham branch of Douglas Allen. We were the buyers when using Douglas Allen. All too often in London, the agent only works hard for the seller, not in our case. Maureen and the team worked tirelessly through what was a complicated and tricky sale. There were many occasions where Maureen would be working late into the night and during her days off to ensure that the sale stayed on track. Throughout our journey buying a property, we came into contact with a lot of agents in East London. None were as friendly and professional as Maureen and the team. What a kind and helpful man Nasir at Douglas Allen East Ham is

Although I'm not planning any immediate move, I'm nevertheless interested in keeping track of conditions in East Ham and Beckton, the areas I'm most likely to return to. I therefore decided to call a few of the local estate agents to try and get a general flavour of the current situation.The first three or four agents I spoke to were polite enough, it's true, but it soon became pretty obvious that they weren't really interested in speaking to someone who only MIGHT be coming back to East Ham to live. Then I discovered Nasir at Douglas Allen. His attitude was entirely different. The fact that I was calling about what's only a possible future move seemed not to be of any great importance to him. Not only was he happy to discuss the situation at the moment, but he actually went as far as inviting me to phone him for updates as often as I needed them.If and when I do decide to launch my move back to East London, Nasir is who I'll be calling first, that's for sure!

I sold my house in January this year through Douglas Allen Woodford Branch. Stephen Ford handled the sale from the start and throughout the process to completion. The buyers were first timer; a bot slow and pedantic. Stephen was an excellent professional in guiding both parties to speed up the process.
