Poor estate agent

We have experienced extremely long delays and very poor communication throughout this process. We have been waiting since 6 October to complete on our house, with little to no meaningful progress. We were told that the case had been escalated to a senior case worker, but nothing changed and no improvements were made. Updates were minimal and often required chasing, which added unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Absolutely fantastic

Lauren has been absolutely fantastic. Right from the very start, she has been reassuring and pointed us in the right direction. There were moments during the sale that I have felt very nervous and needed reassurance and Lauren has been absolutely lovely every step of the way. Lauren was able to help us get everything in place early on, so we didn't miss out on the house that we really wanted. So I am very grateful to her for that. Thank you for everything! Everyone tells you buying or selling a house is a stressful event, but nothing prepared me for buyers pulling out of their alleged purchase not once but three separate buyers at the last minute. The UK laws are archaic. Had it not been for the professional handling of the situation each time by the team at Pygott & Crone I could have been driven to despair. Their tenacity, their guidance, their never give in approach was superb, especially Joe McKue, a star.

If we could give more than 5* we would! Fabulous service, especially from Jonathan who went above and beyond to enable our sale to go through as smoothly as possible. After a three year sales 'process' all I can really say is that Sam Bettinson, Sales Progressor is a shining light in a sea of mediocrity. She is diligent, pro-active and a great communicator. We had previously tried two other estate agents to sell our deceased mum’s property and had very few viewings and were not impressed with their lack of contact with us. However from the first meeting with Davis we were very impressed with the service from Pygott & Crone. We had viewings booked from the very first week and he was in regular contact with us to keep us informed about the current market. Once we accepted an offer they remained In regular contact throughout the sale process. We cannot fault the whole team and would definately recommend them to family & friends in the future.

We had a property to sell owing to a family bereavement, complicated by the fact that we live a 2 hour drive away . P and C gave us good market advice , handled all the viewings and the property was sold subject to contract in 3 weeks . We appointed their recommended solicitors to carry out the conveyancing . This turned out to be pivotal when we had some complications further down the chain . Sam , at P and C worked closely with the solicitors to ensure things continued to progress. She was a star ! Their communication was excellent , all phone calls were answered quickly with the relevant information. The staff in the office were very helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend them as estate agents .

I wasn't going to write a review but…

I wasn't going to write a review but seeing as how they asked me to here goes: I am writing as a seller so this applies to their estate agency business which is separate from their letting business. I have moved a few times this has been the most stressful move of the lot, partly down to P&C and partly down to Stonebow Law, the conveyancers they pushed us towards - probably because they get a pretty big kick back via their legal arm - Pygott and Crone Legal services. Despite paying them over 6 grand they did not attend one single viewing, they only arranged 3. We negotiated with our buyer and got 5k more than P&C had suggested, it was no thanks to them. They charge extra for the media pack - another 300 quid, the guys that did that were exceptional but having paid P&C over 6 grand for virtually nothing you would expect that to be included. A couple of times simple enquiries turned in to shouting matches, it was very unprofessional at times. the only time there was any sense of urgency is when they sent us the final bill within about 5 minutes of exchange of contracts. Another thing that really wound me up was when they found out after the fact that our buyers had visited the property after their initial visit. P&C phoned to ask when it was so they could retrospectively put it in the diary. I got more angry about that than perhaps I should but it was clearly so that in the event of a dispute they could claim that they had done more than they actually had. So at the end of the day they got paid over 6 grand for what totalled no more than a few hours work, we did everything. A truly horrible experience that has left a very bitter taste in the mouth. Things took far too long, I felt every time I contacted them they considered me to be a nuisance. Yes, I am very demanding when I have to work so long to pay them to do so little but I just expect to be treated like a customer - I never really felt that.

Everyone I met and spoke to at Pygott and Crone was extremely helpful and friendly, also very patient. At the beginning I had various questions and worries, mainly about the legal paperwork, infinitely more complicated since my last move. They explained everything clearly despite it not really being part of their remit. Also at the end when the solicitors needed a real push. I would definitely use them again. ( Although all the legal paperwork has made me vow never to move again.) Not so for Stonebow. I have to say that, in my opinion, Stonebow was pretty useless. Very poor with their communications and on several occasions my responses to direct questions were obviously unread. The Tracker thing was also a waste of time.
