I am currently letting with Martin & co and when I first applied for the property I was told I had to be willing to pay above the asking price.
I have rented with many other lettings agencies in the past and have NEVER been asked to pay over the asking price. When telling other agencies about my experience with Martin & co they all seem shocked and said their companies will never ask tenants to pay more than what’s quoted on the advertisement!
Martin & co also make it a habit of having group viewings!
They stick 5-10 individuals in the same flat, at the same time. I am convinced they do this so that us applicants will feel pressured to up the money offer!
Lastly, my 12 month contract is soon finishing and I have been told that if I stay my rent will increase by £50 a month!
Horrendous money greedy company!

I made 5 complaints against Martin & Co with the Property Ombudsman - all 5 were ruled in my favour by the Property Ombudsman with monetary compensation to be paid to me by Martin & Co. The complaints were for poor service and neglecting maintenance repairs.
Months later, Scott Haddock (from Martin & Co) illegally entered my apartment with 5 other strangers when I specifically told him in writing not to enter my home in my absence. He instead quoted me a clause in the tenancy agreement (after he conducted the unauthorised viewing) and implied that I MUST allow them access to my home for future tenant viewings and indicated that they will continue to enter my property to conduct viewings when they need to.
I am pursuing this with both the police and the council as it is a criminal offence to enter someone's property when they have explicitly told you not to.

FacebookI have recently taken out a property with this company in harborne. Worst experience of my life, the property is completely unfit to live in.
Rodent infestation, broken guttering, damp and cracked plaster work to name just a few problems.
The agency have a complete lack of respect for their customers and charge a £500.00 exit fee to leave a property which is clearly uninhabitable. Do not rent with this company.
