Beware! If you are a first time buyer bridgfords Stalybridge will not let you buy a property unless they do a mortgage through them, they are not interested in anything other than selling you a mortgage and the rates they offer are rubbish, they just offer the one which pays them the most comission! They are also rude and ignore calls and emails AVOID

DO NOT USE THESE!!!!The worst estate agents ever. If you’re considering them, do not do it. So at the end of October i needed to move out. So i found a flat, viewed it, applied, got accepted. So obviously i handed in my notice at my current housing. I requested to send my boyfriend to pick the keys up as i was in work until 6pm. Double, tripple checked if they needed any confirmation for him to collect them. Was advised they needed nothing as they would recognise him from the viewing. At the point of the keys being handed over they told my boyfriend he had to sign on my behalf… As the estate agent walked my boyfriend up the stairs of the flat she advised him that some pidgeons had broken in and pood all over the floor. Baring in mind at this point, i’d spoken to her on that day and paid over £1000 to their company. It is just me on the agreement so it’s a breach of DPA that they advised my partner that and not me on the call where i paid them money. I asked to get keys early so i could move in my stuff. So with the bird poo all over the floor i did ask how they expected me to move my furniture over that. After confronting the company about advising my partner to sign my name i was advised WE should have known that was wrong. It took a week to sort this out, i have now had to find other housing as i had about 2.5/3 weeks until im a 19 year old homeless person… After displaying my annoyance to the company the rudely asked if i could live at my parents or my boyfriends… I have finally managed to get keys for a new flat however now i only have 4 days until my tenancy runs out. Baring in mind i work 7:30am-6pm so now i’m having to rush everything in 4 days. Also, the day i picked up the keys i was told they didn’t have the key for the front door of the flat building which is by the car park. So now i’m left with 4 days to move my stuff in & no access to the building. I must admit, i do have a key to the other door on the building. however to get to that door you have to cross a bridge, go up and down some stairs therefore is the complete opposite of convenient. This estate agents is a joke and has only caused me stress. If i didn’t have limited time to leave my current property i would not be staying with them.

Absolutely disgusted with this place

Absolutely disgusted with this place. Went to rent a house. Discussed my situation my income everything I could I was upfront about. Was told I had the house and asked to pay a holding deposit and hand my notice in to my current landlord. House definitely ours. Had 2 guarantors which was all accepted by the landlord. Start packing my house have my current landlord accept my notice and put my house back on the market. 2 weeks later get told I can no longer have the house I failed credit check. They were told from day 1 I would fail hence the guarantors. Was told I came back bankrupt which is not true. Asked if I could do anything to prove this wasn't true. Was told doesnt matter you can't have the house. So no home to move into and a home I have to leave with 5 kids in tow. Disgusted with them. Oh and lose the holding deposit they said I needed to place after being told I was accepted. Literally left us with no home!!!!

Im fed up of these guys, Iv been looking for a property for over 1 yr. Burchill Edwards don’t even let you view the properties. You can’t make an offer unless you have viewed. If you don’t get a mortgage from them, then they simply say viewings are full. I don’t know how these guys are in Business. From looking at there reviews I can see many others have had the same experience. The fact they blatantly fob off honest buyers who are willing to pay over the asking price just so they can sell mortgage products is disgusting. It’s unfair on both Sellers & Buyers. They seriously need to be investigated. A company who puts their own interests before that of their customers. Clear conflict of interest. It’s got the stage where my friends & family simply ignore there ads now.NegativeProfessionalism

Shocking customer service. Can never get through to anyone on the phone and they don’t respond to emails either. I was promised a call back from the branch manager Stephen about my offer 3 days in a row and had to chase each day because the calls never came. Constantly fobbed off and left in the dark. When i finally got hold of him, he then lied and said he had tried to call and left a voicemail when he hadn’t at all - zero missed calls and I don’t have voicemail! Just awful service and as a branch manager, he should know better. As a first time buyers, we’ve had an awful experience, at a time when it should be exciting and happy. Common courtesy costs nothing. I would not recommend unless you want below average service. Don’t waste your time.

I have been liaising with Louise Brockbank since Oct 21. We found the perfect one in Jan 22 placed the offer and was successful. Louise helped us through every step and was very informative whenever we had questions. I have always recommended Burchell Edwards especially we sold through them in 2018. Apart from Dougie, communication was rubbish when we recently sold through them. Too many lies, wasted so many weeks just waiting, they got rubbish solicitor, we were very close losing out on the property we were buying. In fact, at last stage we contacted another agent and had their viewings taken place, luckily our contract got exchanged after I informed the agents and solicitors that we no longer want to use them. Our buyer had gone on a holiday and Burchell Edwards just wouldn't be honest with us and would make different excuses each time, wouldn't contact our seller, then would lie blame our buyers solicitors or even our solicitors! May not use them again in the future. Sorry Burchell Edwards, had loads of trust and faith in you!

I would highly recommend Burchell Edwards for both buyers and sellers. I am a full time working mum and I have been looking for a property for the last 6 months. It was so difficult to cope with work, home and viewings. But yesterday I was at this agent’s office and Dougie arranged a short notice viewing for me and I had an offer accepted within 30 mins. This was a fabulous experience. You just need to tell them your requirement and they will find you the right property without wasting your time. I would NOT sell a property using this agent. They refuse viewings for buyers unless they can be coerced into using their in-house broker service. The seller is essentially left with a small percentage of the potential buyers so nobody wins here except the agent. What's more is that they won't discuss the quid-pro-quo arrangement over the phone or email as they're keen to do it in person. (no phone, or paper trail?). Disgusting and probably illegal.

These agents act like robots

These agents act like robots with no human face. Wanted to move in with a property they are managing. Unfortunately for us, we went ahead and paid for the house.(rent) On the day of collecting keys, I could not make it. I called to beg if they can give keys to the lead tenant who has already moved to the property with her stuff wanting to pick up keys. They refused because I was not there. They left her stranded. I promised to take any responsibility that comes with collecting keys. No buldging.Moreover communicating with them is unusually difficult, hard to pick calls. I wont recommend these kind of insensitive agents

Do not use this company. We setup a viewing of a property which without any contact they did not attend. Since this time I have been called several times saying that I have requested a viewing of my property which I have never done and have regularly asked for my details to be removed from their database but keep receiving more calls.
