The sale of our mum’s house by Hunters estate agents

Hunters have just sold my mum’s house and the whole experience from start to finish went so smoothly. James cane and valued the property and he was very kind and professional. Rebecca who handled the sale was brilliant! She was always in communication with my sister and I and kept us informed at every step of the way. She was always quick to answer any queries we had and was very prompt in resolving them. The other staff were also very kind and professional and really supported us in what has been a very emotional journey. Thank you all so much! 😃❤️

Hunters Northenden branch. Louis at Hunters could not have been more helpful. I was renting a retirement property for my father who was moving areas to be nearer us. Elisa, Justine and their team went way above and beyond the call of duty in quickly finding us a great rental home in a beautiful location and within our budget. If I could give 6 out of 5 stars I would. They worked on their days off, early in the morning and late into the evening to ensure paperwork was ready and that we could move in quickly, and they did it professionally and with grace. I was amazed at their level of service. I can't praise them highly enough.

Hunters is a joke

I have had experience with Hunters in the past on multiple occasions. I am disappointed everytime from their lack of felixibility. For example if you're trying to rent and your annual income matches but does not excees what is expected by Hunters then they will abruptly cut you off. Also horrible customer service by the staff and do not know what they are doing. On a flat i called twice one staff member told me i had to satisfy an income of 29.000 pounds and another staff member told me i had to exceed 30.000 wich makes me doubt their honesty. I have had much better experiences with other agencies. Do not reccomend.

Hunters took over our house sale from another agent. The viewings they set up were more appropriate and resulted in an acceptable offer. However, Alison and her team went above and beyond their remit to ensure we got fast exchange in very difficult personal circumstances for us and worked very hard to ensure our sale proceeded when the chain could have collapsed. We recommend this branch very highly and Alison Gillett in particular..

An unfortunate attitude from Hunters

My boyfriend and I were purchasing a property through Hunters and they were pleasant enough. However, when we received the results of the independent survey two months down the line, it highlighted what we considered to be significant problems with the property, particularly the necessity of a whole new roof, and the replacement of brickwork.Naturally, we had not - and could not have - factored in the cost of these repairs, or the time it would take to carry them out, so we emailed our contact at Hunters in Sunderland, simply outlining the issues that the survey had presented, and attaching the report in full. The reply we received explained ‘The seller is not under any obligation to carry out any work or offer a reduction’. While true, this attitude seemed hostile to us, and rather unprofessional. We did not mention a negotiation of price, or the current owners carrying out the work themselves - although, to be frank, these did not seem unreasonable expectations.We had misgivings about how considerable an undertaking the repairs would be, both financially and physically, but were open to discussing options with Hunters/the sellers. However, we decided to withdraw from the sale, and Hunters’ attitude did play a big part in that. As a prospective buyer, you do not have a choice over which estate agent to deal with, but I would certainly be reticent about purchasing a property sold by Hunters in the future, and would strongly advise sellers to consider the overwhelmingly negative reviews on this page before engaging Hunters, as the wrong estate agent could scupper a sale, as in this case.

Dishonest and unprofessional

We drove over 250 miles to view a house listed for let @ £900. We said we like it and were happy to proceed, after all similar properties down south cost £1000 a month….We were absolutely shocked when they got back to us, offering us the house for £1000 because they knew we could afford it… we were aghast! I have never ever encountered such skullduggery and dishonesty…. Of course we declined… how can one deal with such a dishonest estate agent as these!

Hunters is amazing and I recommend them to everyone - I have gone from being terrified of moving out to overflowing with excitement!! I am moving out for the first time and know next to nothing about the process. Hunters has guided me every step of the way and has been incredible at all stages of the process. It started with me finding a property on Rightmove and booking a viewing. I went to see it with one of their agents - William - and was not happy with the place, and thought that was the end of it. A few weeks later, one of their other agents - Hannah - called me asking for feedback on the property. I told her it wouldn't be positive feedback but she wanted to hear it anyway. She then informed me the problems were being addressed and invited me back for another viewing as well as another similar property she thought I might like. I went back and still didn't want the original property, but the other property she found was perfect for me. I asked to put in an application and she e-mailed me the same day with the application form. I filled it in, sent it back, paid the holding fee and received a link to the online portal. The online portal is fantastic and made it super easy to provide them with all the information they needed from me. It has a live chat which helped me when I wasn't sure what I should be entering, and provides a good overview of where you are in the process. I also e-mailed my questions to Hannah directly several times, and always received an answer within an hour or two. Hunters also recommended several companies they work with, and their recommendations have been good so far! I know that I can e-mail Hunters and get a reply quickly, and I know that if I want to talk "now" then I can pick up the phone and speak to someone. The process has kept me very involved and has been very easy. My only worry is that it may have spoilt me when it comes to other companies! Time will tell how Hunters handles any ongoing queries I have with my tenancy, but right now I have nothing but good things to say about them, and I strongly recommend anyone looking to move to give Hunters a try!!!
