Zero communication, zero strategy, zero guidance

We listed our house for sale with Poole Townsend in September 2025. Had a bad feeling from the start when we were unhappy with the majority of their photographs and ended up using some of our own. Staff we met were awkward and not forthcoming with guidance or support. During the 5 months we were with them we had no communication from them except the few times they called to request a viewing. I complained to the manager that we were unhappy and felt that they were not doing anything to promote or sell our property other than sticking it on Rightmove. He promised he would do a full review of the listing, look at changing the photos and giving it a general boost and ensure the staff gave us regular updates . Four weeks later none of this has materialised. Today I emailed to tell him we were withdrawing our property to use a different agent in light of the aforementioned. He gave zero accountability for failing to do what he said he would and seemed to suggest it was just the market. To be honest I'm glad we didn't sell with them as it would have been galling to say the least to have had to pay them commission for the absolute bare minimum that they have done. Do yourself a favour and avoid.

Excellent Estate Agents, We live in Manchester and had to travel up to Barrow-in-Furness, so only had a certain day to look at properties, they made every effort so we could view properties,, We eventually bought one and is going through Poppi at the Barrow Branch has been amazing , every email I sent she replied to, sometime straight away or a few hours later when she had to contact the vendors, Poppi has now passed me onto some one else to do with the sale who have contacted us about the sale They seem very organised to at present very pleased, just wish out Estate agents were as good at communication, thank you

Unfortunately unable to give you 5 stars due to some of the misunderstandings given. Eg cash buyers when they weren't and the actual sale of the house seemed to take a long time. We also couldn't understand why the argon test wasn't taken at the begining of the sale. It would have been good to have the same member of staff dealing with the sale. But we do appreciate the time and effort put in by you Thank you Martin Oldham

Seller Beware

If I could give a zero star review I would. Initially I was impressed by the sales approach but learned over time that the bluster of the selling approach did not manifest into a successful sale. The communications was lacking throughout, the advice terrible and no strategy to sell your property. With such as long tie in period your hands are tied until the 5 month period has passed. I would not recommend PT as a selling agent. Seller beware.

We quite like this property, it appears to have everything I need. I will be making arrangements to drive up to Cumbria in the next few weeks and would like to view this one. There are a couple of other properties in Askam I wish to view too so will try and arrange a time to view those as well. Do you know if the Travel Lodge is open in Barrow as we will need somewhere to stay for a few nights. I cannot come up this week as I have viewings for my own property throughout the week and next weekend. I am also interested in some properties in Dalton too so will try and get them sorted out for viewing at the same time. I need to see the area each property is situated in to se if I will be happy living there. I am looking to buy possibly 2 properties in the same area, one for me and one for my daughter. This company has a cheek to call them sales solicitors I have had them handling the divorce case for me. I am totally disabled with arthritis and partially sighted. It’s got two accounts now where they sent a letter to my wife at the wrong address she hadn’t lived at that address for about 12 years it’s got two accounts now where they won’t even speak to me they ask me why I am on the telephone and they’re never in. I don’t know how they’ve got the liberty to call themselves solicitors. They are absolutely useless.

Without doubt the best estate agents in the Barrow in Furness surrounding area offering everything in-house YES you may find a cheaper option with one of these franchise estate agents but be prepared to be dealing with solicitors 300 miles away who are so slow and painful that everyone loses interest but it's tied into the contract to use them it was so much easier just to drop everything off into the local office to help speed the process up of the sale Pooles offer so much professionalism and so prompt with the legal side iv learnt the lesson the hard way and wnt repeat that mistake again when comes to selling my house(s)
