TrustpilotHarron Homes- Amberwood Chase Dewsbury
I have been in process to purchase a property with Harron Homes- Amberwood Chase Dewsbury which is due to to be completed Mid December. I have been liaising with Jane through the entire process from viewing the potential plot to finalising the details.she's been absolutely amazing. She's maintained continuous contact with updates and the on goings with the built. Has provided quick solutions to any issues occurred. Has been a great pleasure to deal with. Easy going and just a lovely individual with a great personality which has made it so easy to get through it all. The project manager has been fantastic with handling each plots requirements to the fullest.Would definitely recommend Harron Homes. Sabah.

TrustpilotFab experience buying house
Fabulous experience buying our first ever new build. Our old house was valued and we decided to part exchange our house. This was a great idea as we got more money off our house and got a discount as the same house but different plot was being sold cheaper. When we moved in, we had a few problems but it was all fixed within a week. All around this was a great experience. Paul and lorett have been absolutely fantastic.

TrustpilotLooking Good at Amberwood Chase
So far so good at Amberwood chase. Since Jane has taken over on the sales side we have spoken on a regular basis. She’s very easy to talk to and very informative. Being from the commercial trade I employ over 130 people nationwide, my men design and build so i know exactly what to look for and what to expect with a new build. We have not met the site manager as of yet but you can see how quickly the build has progressed following our last visit. The site itself seems organised and it appears the site manager is doing a good job with his teams to be on top of the tight schedule for the pre Christmas movers like us. Looking forward to our Demo on the 6th. We Will post another review once we are in after Christmas !!!! Erika and Carl

TrustpilotGreat Purchase Experience with Harron Homes
Just completed everything for a great property in Amberwood Chase, Dewsbury. What a fantastic experience. The whole team on site from the site manager and his hard working team to the guys in the sales office to the wonderful Jane & Steph in the Show home. Brilliant customer service all round! All have been super responsive, helpful, courteous and committed in landing the completion within a tough time frame but they have all delivered! Weekly emails with progress updates, phone calls to check everything OK and visits to site being a really pleasant experience.I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Harron Homes or the team in Dewsbury!

TrustpilotHonest Review
Please think very carefully before buying a Harron. We eventually moved into our dream home in July 2016 after a long delay. Fabulous design, decent sized garden and wonderful location. But that's where it ends, the dream quickly became a nightmare which we are still living nearly 3 and a half years later. To cut a very very long and stressful story short we are 3 years and 4 months into a battle to get our issues put right. Our defects are far too many to mention I can't even remember them all, but they range from the minor unpainted surfaces and chipped woodwork to major defects like, leaks, missing insulation, unsafe retaining walls, draughts, wrongly fitted roof, missing radiators. The list goes on and on.Harron homes will do everything in their power to not fix your issues or fix them as cheaply as they can. This results in such poor work it usually needs to be rectified, and the battle begins again. No one from Harron supervises this work, you have to.The customer care is at worse non existent, at best very poor. They ignore, ignore, ignore you. Don't return calls or emails. Then when you do scream loud enough to be heard they bully you. I have had to resort to getting my local MP involved and bombarding the MD with emails to be heard. It sometimes gets you a response but usually it's very short lived. Constantly deliberately being a nuisance is embarrassing, time consuming demoralising. All I want is what I paid for but I am having to fight for it and compromise every step of the way. It has been the most stressful time of my life and a lot of my spare time is now taken up dealing with these issues, chasing Harron and investigating my rights. I am usually a strong person but Harron homes have broken me numerous times. It amazes me how they sleep at night but maybe their massive bonuses help. Me however, I'm left with a defective home and nowhere to turn. Please don't be fooled my experience is by no means an isolated case. And do they care what they have put me and many others through? No they do not. Rather than trying to right their wrongs they focus their time on trying to hide these reviews!I have read some of the positive reviews on here..... I strongly suspect they have been written by Harron themselves. I also wonder why their facebook page doesn't show comments?

TrustpilotIs moving home really the most stressful time of your life? No, the 3 years of hell afterwards will be!
Firstly, it's important that this review is balanced; I don't want it to come across that I am just a bitter customer, so I will list everything that is good about Harron Homes first. It won’t take long. So, what are Harron Homes good at? Selling, marketing, promising (very different from delivering on those promises though). Some of their locations are very good and, aesthetically, their house designs are better than your average Bovis, TW, Persimmon, Barratt etc. But looks can be deceiving. And now for the not so good….. Don't expect to move in anywhere near the completion date, unless that is supposed to be December so they can boost their Year End statement of financial position and their bonuses. We were 6 months late (23rd of December and rushed into a barely finished house along with 7 other which meant the day was manic) and I understand that delay to be about average. They have no concept of customer service. You can email and phone 50 times a day and they will never call you back. Easiest thing is to say you will wait on hold. We were erroneously copied into an internal email where they referred to “only responding to the screamers”. Obviously I never complained enough to them or maybe I would have got more attention.Unfortunately, like most big house builders who have grown too quickly to keep true to their roots, they only care about margin and quality has gone out of the window - the cheapest materials possible and with sub-sub-contractors on ‘piece work’ they will rattle through without any QC. That might be harsh and there may well be some QC, but if so their standards are non-existent. It seems like they'd rather just get you in (get your money!) and then fix the snags later. I stopped learning the names of the Site Managers as they came and went too quickly, either fired or they quit.We had around 200 snags on moving in. A lot of this was relatively minor and I ended up doing stuff myself and have not bothered mentioning that stuff here, but there were some quite significant issues that are still ongoing today some 3 years later. Their approach is to wear you down and ignore you hoping you will give up. Unfortunately I fear that this tactic works with so many people that they do it maliciously and arrogantly (read back to the internal email we were mistakenly copied in to about “screamers”). They will also try to pass off responsibility to their sub-contractors, but remember that your contract is with Harron so the responsibility is with them.About 50 of the 84 houses on our site still require the roofs to be re-done. They used cheap tiles that were not fit for purpose and were not fit correctly to specification. Harron didn’t pay the sub-contractor and they subsequently went out of business (although I expect the standard of the roofing companies’ work to be the main reason behind that). We were given a date of Friday 9 September 2017 for ours to start to be fixed only for that date to be cancelled and us still not know over 2 years later when or if it will be done. That said, they spent 6 moths of that time trying to get out of it only to be directed by the LABC to do them. I expect the delay is down to cash flow as there is no reasonable reason why this has taken so long.We are missing stone cills from the rear of our property as apparently the plans changed just before our house started being built, yet under the Consumer Code I should have been informed of this change but never was. Harron are asking me to prove I was never informed rather than them prove I was informed!? Strange. Of the 84 houses, 6 of us are in this position which just looks odd next to the other houses, moreover, some have them downstairs, but not upstairs whilst some have them upstairs, but not downstairs. Strange plans.... That said, one house has had them retro-fit, but the rest of us are being ignored on it.They have only just finished the road surfacing, 4 years after the first occupants moved into their houses. You expect to live on a building site for a short while but there was no reason whatsoever for them not to have finished this when the last house was built and occupied over 18 months previously. Again, cash flow probably the influencing factor. Most of our neighbours have insulation missing from their cavity walls (either Kingspan or pumped in). Our bay window/living room and upstairs bedroom above that are considerably colder than the rest of the house, but they refuse to acknowledge this. They have acknowledged this for some of our neighbours though. Similarly, our Central Heating system was installed incorrectly so the heating came on whenever the hot water did, they tried to tell me that was frost protection in the system…. 5 or 6 plumber visits before this was acknowledged yet many of our neighbours had also complained about the same thing. Speaking to your neighbours and applying collective pressure is key. Many of the faults will be the same (although getting them to acknowledge that will not happen). But we are relatively lucky. The worst case on our estate - one family had to move out for 6 months whilst they gutted and rebuilt a house that was literally falling down. 6 months bouncing between hotels and short term rentals was incredibly turbulent for that family and I thank our lucky stars we are not in that position. In all seriousness, if you feel you can put up with this kind of treatment and will go ahead to make the biggest financial commitment of your life then spend a few extra quid and pay for a professional snagging company and get your solicitor to add in a hold-back to the completion payment. Also be prepared to harass the LABC (Harron have already moved on from the NHBC, and I wonder why?). To do that you will need to keep records of every email and phone call and get as much as you can in writing because to unpick the years of hassle afterwards you will need it.The real crime here is the fact you get more consumer protection buying a fake knock-off copy of something from China on eBay than you do spending hundreds of thousands £s buying a house. Harron, like other house builders, are just exploiting that.

TrustpilotAVOID AVOID AVOID!!!
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!Plot 16 Oaklands Heath:Absolutely terrible and disgusting service from Harron Homes. I never thought that if I was to buy a £524,995 "luxury" home my wife, mum and I would all be treated so badly. Reserved this plot (Edlingham) in April/May time after seeing the Edlingham show home in Shelf: the plot was in the Lindley catchment area which is why I suspect most people are buying here. Multiple delays from Harron, pushed back house by many months. Originally agreed a part ex price for my current house and then refused to give this price even though it was in writing - Harron kept finding loop holes into why they don't need to pay their agreed price! We were threatened our purchase of the house will be cancelled because their own solicitors (Shullmans) did not bother checking any paperwork/contracts until a couple days before we were meant to exchange contracts and this will delay things??!Constantly threatening they will cancel items/extras in the house already agreed and in writing.Advised we have couple months to choose bathroom/kitchen equipment/tiles multiple times, then suddenly said only have a couple of days - at this point we had had a death in the family which we made harron aware of and said we were advised have couple months to choose yet can't do it all so fast; again we had more threats of cancellation and pressure! Multiple times in 1 day!The solicitors they recommended were an absolute unprofessional joke as well (Emsleys) and would either ignore our questions completely or take days and days to answer the simplest of queries- clearly both companies are helping each other get business. Once house was nearing completion already many faults and errors.Outside tap in completely the wrong place even though it was drawn on the house map by myself and the harron staff together!Wrong bannister! The "granite" included in the kitchen has to be the thinnest/cheapest granite I have ever seen - not "luxury" at all as they keep advertising themselves.I also had the stupid conversation about doing the "snagging list" after moving in! The site manager said this will help me idenitify all problems and give me longer to do it rather than doing the snagging prior to moving in like other normal housing companies do; he explained they are doing me a favour by doing this. I can see from reviews on here that clearly once you move in and snagging done Harron homes could not care less! More tricks and deceit! This is not a luxury homes site, they are a complete joke. Absolutely disgusting behaviour! It is very sad to put so much thought, effort and emotional involvement into something that is meant to be your "dream family home" and then get treated so badly. In the end I got so angry at how my family and I were being treated and read lots of reviews on here and spoke to others; turns out this is just normal behaviour and treatment of customers from Harron and we aren't the first people to go through this. I pulled out of this purchase a few weeks ago and feel so so glad I did; purchasing this house would have been the biggest mistake of my life, as it seems from reviews things only get 10 times worse once you move in! There are so many other options out there! Old builds, new builds, self builds! Avoid Harron. I can see that I am so lucky that I pulled out (even though lost money in the process over the last few months), my condolences to those who have moved in and are struggling. Now I understand why their sales keep falling through repeatedlyAvoid at all costs. I would never ever ever ever consider harron homes ever again. Horrible horrible company.

TrustpilotThe Grange, Shireoaks.
My wife and I have just been to check on the progress of our new home at The Grange, Shireoaks. We were aware of some negative feedback regarding Harron Homes prior to our reservation but we also have a number of friends that have bought from Harron on other sites and besides the expected minor snags their experiences have been excellent. Thus far our own experience has also been excellent, we elected to part exchange and this has been very straight forward, the offer was a little lower than we would have hoped for but the ease and convenience has definitely been worth it. The sales team at The Grange are superb, (Joanne and Jeanette in particular) the information they provided prior to reservation was very detailed, they really know their houses. After reservation their communication has continued to be great with weekly build and progress updates. It does make me think that Harron are trying to address some of the issues around communications that people have mentioned. As for the house and site, this will be our fifth newly built house so we have some experience and compared to previous houses the standard of finishing is high. Attention to detail is also to be commended, for instance the kitchen units have been fitted but then have been fully wrapped and protected to ensure it is free from any damage during further works, this might seem small but this level of attention is not something we have experienced with other builders. Apparently this is driven by the new site manager (Steven) who is said to be driving a much higher standard of finish and we have no reason to doubt this. This ethos does seem to carry through to the tradespeople. We met the electrician(Ben) who was carrying out some additional work that we have requested and he seems to have a genuine pride in his work. Clearly the house isn’t complete yet and it remains to be seen how well Harron Homes deal with our inevitable snags etc, but so far it’s been superb.

Don’t be fooled by the amazing show homes that draw you in. The whole harron experience is awful if only I had read these before. It starts when your greeted with the rude and abrupt saleswomen then continues through the whole journey. Even when you pick the keys up to your dream house and are given some towels because there is a bit of a leak they say which turns out to be a flooding of the downstairs toilet. The latest fault is to have a water leak coming through the ceiling. We have loads standing water on the flat roof the grass is laid on rumble so will not grow. Our snagging company found 211 faults which leaves us with no faith in the house or harron homes feels more like e renovation project rather than a new build. All the lies and false promises to try and keep you quiet will wear you down. Snagging seems to be hit and miss to a low standard not the luxury they promise.

I could write war and peace referencing all the 2 faced lies and outrageous bodge jobs I'm currently dealing with but the bottom line is this. They do not give a flying crap once you have paid your deposit, and then it gets progressively worse until you cant actually believe a company this bad can physically exist.I'm now 18 months into my journey with Harron Homes and so far I've been physically intimidated by a site manager for simply asking questions, I've been told lies that range from 'no that's your view we're not building there... to the inspection is booked i promise...to I'm sorry we'll sort it, which consists of waiting 6 months before blowing your top and some dimwit comes and bodges it leaving you wishing you just arranged for a professional to do it properly. One of my particular favourites however were the 2 data protection breaches which were dealt with by laughing it off. Then you come to the actual quality of the property, DO NOT take the show home as an example of what your getting, the difference between the workmanship on the show home and that on my actual property couldn't be any further apart if my house had been built by cave men with mud pies, in fact it probably has been!I wouldnt wish Harron Homes on my worst enemy. The business model boils down to bodge it as cheap as possible and ignored the customer until they give up......

TrustpilotLong Delays
Harron Homes are the worst company I’ve ever had to deal with. The customer service is non existent. No one answers questions and obtaining factual information is near on impossible. We are now on a 6 month delay to our estimated completion date given by the sales team at their Edenbrook Vale site. They still won’t confirm a completion date just a rough month which doesn’t fill us with confidence that we will actually move in when they say. We’ve asked to speak with construction and they don’t call us back. My advice to anyone thinking of buying a Harron Homes property is to avoid. Spend your hard earned money with a company that care about their customers.

After waiting a long time for our home, due to circumstances beyond anyone's control, we moved in in august. We absolutely love our home, it is perfect for us, in an ideal situation in a lovely cul de sac with friendly neighbours. There are less snags than we expected for a new house and Anthony and Chris on site have responded quickly to any of the minor snags that we have found. The quality of the materials used in the build is excellent when we have compared it to other new houses and the design is fantastic.

We moved to what was supposed to be our dream home last year. Since moving in we’ve had no end of problems. The garden walls collapsed narrowly avoiding injury to our 3 year old grandson, the kitchen diner suffered extensive damage due to raining in, the whole kitchen floor had to be replaced and we’ve had black mould in the kitchen. Non of the internal doors fit. When we threatened legal action we were told they would refuse to carry out the work. Customer service is shockingly poor. We expected snags and had they been dealt with properly and we hadn’t been ignored by harron then this may have been a different review

We’ve just completed our colour options at the Lavender Fold site and have to say we were wary about going with Harron Homes from the reviews at first. However, we visited our friend’s house on another development whose snags were minor and resolved in good time, which settled our nerves as they have a beautiful property. We managed to put an early bird down on a Baybridge back in April and since then the sales side has been absolutely brilliant. Our sales advisors Sharon and Eileen couldn’t have been more helpful answering our many questions. As first time buyers we also found their recommended financial advisor and solicitor really helpful, making the legal side run very smoothly! For us the buying process has been seamless and we’re currently keeping everything crossed for a Christmas completion to a high standard.
