Terrible service

Terrible service. Very disappointed. I found a short let property on their portal myself, the agent (Amir Abbasian) kept suggesting either awful properties, or ones over my budget. They were very quick to call back and close the deal but once the deal was made, I never once was able to speak directly to my agent Olivia Taylor, or anyone from Foxtons again. Repeated messages and email queries went unanswered. Every two weeks a new person would be in touch and all my queries would be ignored. The property was nice and in good condition but i paid Foxtons 350 pounds for the end of tenancy clean, and was slapped with a 600 pound cleaning claim on my deposit. The property was never cleaned and my landlord claimed the charges from my deposit. at least a dozen emails later, I still don't have a protection document number for my deposit. I was told my deposit was protected. I ws told I would be provided an inventory upon moving in. I was told the place would be cleaned at the end of my tenancy, for which i paid. None of the above happened. Still waiting for part of my deposit to be returned, even though they said it was transferred three weeks ago and should take 5 to 7 days to be credited. I've settled the dispute with my landlord now, even though it is extortion, but it seems even he was being cheated by Foxtons.

Three words - don’t do it

We listed our house with foxtons and the service has been abysmal. There’s been next to no effort or movement with trying to sell the house, no communications with any options etc. You get an account online which shows upcoming viewings - almost all viewings ‘booked’ haven’t actually happened and they don’t contact us to confirm it either. You expect a lot from an estate agent with their level of commission - dont bother.

I am delighted to write a 5-star review for Foxtons, they recently sold your house. The entire process was exceptionally smooth and hassle-free, and I cannot thank them enough for their dedication and professionalism. From the initial consultation to the final sale, the team was incredibly efficient, and within two weeks, everything was set up, including amazing pictures, numerous viewings, and six offers well above the asking price were on our table. I was blown away by the level of service provided by them. Throughout the entire sale, the team provided close assistance and guidance, respected our requests with the viewing arrangements, recommended excellent solicitors and went above and beyond in setting expectations from the buyers and managing ours too. Alpa, in particular, was a total star, she is absolutely the best! Provided a fun and friendly approach while remaining entirely professional. I also can’t thank Derek enough, he was there the entire time to make sure things were moving and promptly stepped in when we needed his help to unblock things. I cannot recommend Foxtons enough. Their commitment, dedication, and exceptional customer service made selling my house a truly fantastic experience, something I've never thought I would say. Thank you to the whole team, and especially to Alpa, for all of your hard work and efforts.

I feel that the experience was negative

I put my flat up for sale with my Foxtons, I was going to go with another agent but they were very pushy and said how they managed to sell better than anyone so I went with them. I was under the impression my flat would go straight up but after I signed the contract it took them 2 weeks to take photos and put them up, in the meantime they put up a video of the flat from a mid-term inspection where it looked absolutely disgusting. I had never seen this video and I don't see why it would be allowed to be put up without my permission, I asked for it to be removed, they didn't and it took them nearly the 2 weeks to remove it. The photos they took were adequate but not particularly great, I was pretty disappointed. I felt that the price was extremely over inflated (like all their prices) but respected they knew better than me, but when every single person gave feedback that it was way overpriced and no one showed any interest I became quite embarrassed. I found it very hard to contact my sales agent and just gave up most times after leaving numerous messages. I heard from my agent 10 times more before I signed with them than I did during my contract. When I gave notice 28 days before the end after having no interest, I was reminded how they are the number one and warned that going to another agent would not solve the issue. Their commission is so much more than everyone else but I feel my experience with their sales agent was extremely poor and I can't believe I had no interest in my nice flat. I feel I made a mistake going with them and would caution anyone thinking of them. Also I rented my flat with them for nearly 2 decades and my last tenant emailed them notice which they said they did not receive until the next day so they extended the end date to one day beyond the end of the month, they then charged me a management fee of £9 for the one day (and she paid £1 something rent for that one day). I will never rent with them again due to the complete lack of transparency with regards to money. (As for the excuse that the housing market is quiet I put my other property up for sale at the same time and it sold within 2 weeks, but then again the photos were really good and the price was reasonable).

So far the service I have received from Foxtons has been awful! First they harassed us with calls and emails to show us different flats after we enquired once about a flat, we eventually relented and took one of their flats. They were very helpful when signing and paying the deposit/2 months rent, but as soon as they got the money it’s like they disappeared! We arranged a flat viewing and the person showing us didn’t have a working FOB and knew nothing about the flat. The flat was SO DIRTY and they assured us they would clean it. We tried to enquire about who supplies the flat energy and gas wise and they had no idea… 2 days until we move in and we ask if it’s been cleaned and they say NO that’s the landlords job! So we keep asking them to clean it professionally and our contract states it will be cleaned before the commencement of tenancy. We get told it’s been cleaned (4:30pm on the day before we move…) So we come to the flat and ITS STILL A MESS! Marks on walls, dust around the air vents, hard water stains all over the kitchen and bathroom counters, it’s as if someone came in to hoover and use overly strong chemicals that make the bathroom smell horrific and then left. ‘Professionally cleaned’ is not the words I would use to describe the job done here (that frankly isn’t that hard!). We don’t expect a real professional to come and clean it so we will need to clean it ourselves, as if we don’t have enough to deal with…. Since we moved in on a Saturday, there was no one around to give us our keys and we had to come at a specific time to collect them, and the woman who was due to give them to us didn’t even turn up, we had to be served by somebody else who just so happened to be in the office!! We had no instructions, no welcome, no information on suppliers, just handed the keys and landlords details and that was it. We are NOT happy with this service and expect more from a letting agents, previous agents we have used have been so much better and organised, rather than making us feel like they made their commission and is no longer their problem. We are very glad the place we are renting is primarily managed by the landlord and not this company.

Commission! Commission! Commission! Those are the three words I would use to describe the service. I had to edit this review to reflect the WHOLE process and not just the initial process of finding a flat and signing. At first they are really on it with helping you find a place and going through all the paperwork but once that is sorted out (and I assume they receive their commission) the service goes from 5/5 to 0/5. Moved into a flat that supposedly had been cleaned the day before however all that seemed to have been done was hoovering and cleaning the bathroom. The walls have stains all over, there is dust in a lot of places the balcony has moss on it window sill outside has bird poo all over. Clearly it wasn’t well cleaned and after moving cleaning your new place is THE LAST thing you want to be dealing with. When we enquired about who supplies the electricity we weren’t given a response so just used the supplier we had before. Turns out the entire development is supplied by eon which meant cancelling our contract and setting up a new one, another thing you really don’t want to worry about. I could go on and on about issues, from arranging a second viewing after signing that was unbelievably unorganised to picking up keys and the person who was meant to be there wasn’t. I can not recommend Foxtons and would advise anyone to steer well clear. By the looks of it many of the positive reviews were written once a flat was signed (as was my previous one) but after that there is terrible service.

Do not rent through Foxtons

If you are a renter, please do not use Foxtons. They are a scammy horrible company that only serves the interests of the landlord. They rented us an overpriced disgusting dump by using old out-of-date photos in the rental ad, and locked us into an abusively restrictive contract that made it impossible to leave the horrible dump that ruined my mental health. Do yourself a favour and stay away from these money hungry scammers.
