Honest & Trustworthy Estate Agents....

I have dealt with Mark & Penny Gilbertson from the Wirral & Northwest Fine & Country. All I can say is that from start to finish, they were both amazing. After having an appalling experience with a prior Estate Agent lying to us and messing us about, all we asked for and what we got from Mark was honesty and integrity which led us to a completed sale in 7 months from going on the market with them (In a competitive / slow moving market in our area) and then Penny followed up after the offer to support us fully through the completion process. Whilst selling a house is naturally stressful, I feel that Mark & Penny supported us and guided us through the entire process and I cant recommend them highly enough. Thank you to them and their team!

Claire Heritage Rugby Fine and CountryWe were purchasing a house which Claire Heritage was marketing. At the open house it was a free for all, and she sat on her laptop, we waited until everyone left in order to speak about the house. Firstly, she kept us waiting for one week after offer was made although the Vendors confirmed they wanted to sell to us and not the other people she was trying to get to outbid us. From the start Claire did not manage this sale at all and it created a lot of issues along the way. Not to mention the fact that untoward things were going on; she recommended companies for Finance and SLDT only to find these companies were extortionate in costs compared to other companies.The upward chain had increased considerably and Claire did not mention this until we were due to exchange. Luckily, we found out some truths about the extortionate costs as mentioned above, then repairs which our survey had uncovered were going to cost a huge amount more than the quotes that were presented to us. The local school had a significant drop in rating by OFSTED which we suspect may have been known a couple of months prior by the Vendor and Claire, when we found out these irregularities we pulled out of the sale.Claire also ignored our communications to her numerous times. Not once did Claire try to solve the issues or speak with our Estate Agent to clarify things. We found her very unprofessional and we have since heard this from other people also. Based on this experience we would not buy a house marketed by Fine & Country.

He is a first rate estate agent and a man with real integrity and compassion. He has excellent communication skills, keeping me fully up-to-date with all developments, however minimal - something that is critical at such a stressful time. He has been endlessly patient throughout several challenging sets of circumstances during the year, remaining calm and objective, giving me wise and timely counsel and achieving a very satisfactory sale. Narberth branch VERY poor service

Narberth branch. We have been trying to view properties since April 2022. We are 100% cash buyers. We repeatedly ask for a call back and occasionally get an email. Or told no-one can assist as on holiday. Even called other branches to try and get them to help us get a call back. There is no office to visit just a PO box. Worst experience with an estate agent ever (and work in the business). We live 450 mile round trip away so viewings have to fit our planned visits. Really disappointing especially in this new challenging market

Paula McCartney (Romford) helped us sell our house. After we had gone through a tirade of real estate agents who promised the world, Paula came in grounded and set clear expectations. She was very clear and concise with her communication through the whole process. She set up and followed through with appointment - much more than other agencies and ensured the right kind of potential buyers were visiting. Took the stress out of a difficult sale

If Estate agents can have a bad reputation, Matthew Higgins and the team at Fine & Country are the exception. The selling of our house was a long-winded saga due to a very changeable financial landscape, from boom to bust, with uncommitted buyers over-bidding and then dropping out and then the market slowing to a standstill. Not to mention us being out of the country for much of the time.Throughout the process Matthew was with us every step of the way and always went the extra mile to make the best of the situation. Above and beyond what we would expect an agent to do for a seller. He steered it all the way through to us finding solid buyers and getting the sale done to everyone's satisfaction.

Re-writing how houses should be sold!

My husband & I can’t shout Marie’s praises enough! To say she went the extra mile on a sale, that presented issue after issue, would be an understatement. After being very poorly let down by a well established Northamptonshire estate agent, we were totally in awe of Marie’s carefully structured approach.We started with the presentation of the house - actually clearing the house herself! Which lead to excellent photos and videos being produced. Exceptionally hands on and Marie’s attention to detail was fantastic. The marketing package is worth every penny. I will be honest and say were a little unsure of Marie’s explanation of how to pitch the house sale price, but we went with her advice and we are so pleased we did!! Open house day, offer within three hours and at considerably more than the marketed ‘offers over’ price. Done.The sale process started smoothly but issue after issue came up and whilst we were all for throwing in the towel, Marie kept on reassuring us and promising to get us over the line, have our backs and do everything necessary to complete the sale. Marie never once failed on her promises and did far more than you would ever believe an estate agent would do - amongst many out of the ordinary issues she dealt with for us, going back to lock up our house at 10pm at night, because we had to have workmen in, taking rubbish to the tip and helping with the removals - this shows her determination to most definately ‘get you over the line’ of exchange & completion. Add to this the time difference as we are in Australia, Marie was literally available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, to keep us up to date or answer any questions. Of which I had loads!!! The adage in life of ‘you get what you pay for’ could not have been more proven between the ‘agent’ who failed us miserably and Marie who has been totally, totally amazing. Her fees maybe higher, but she is worth every penny! We are going to miss our daily catch ups as Marie has a lovely personality too! We would absolutely, a million percent, recommend Marie at Fine & Country. Thank you Marie, you have been truly amazing and a total credit to your industry and your company! ❤️

We sold our house through Richard Hughes from the Chester office of Fine & Country. From the very first meeting he exuded a calmness and professionalism. Due to dealing with someone from the Shrewsbury Fine & Country office for a purchase we wanted to make, the agent for which was totally useless, Richard asked whether we wanted a quick sale to meet the potential purchase and the sale price suggestion was considerably lower than we wanted to sell for. Undeterred, we were steered by Richard towards a sale in difficult times for our niche property and he secured a sale by first-class marketing and an excellent sales strategy relying on an open day. This master stroke negated the requirement for painful days upon days of cleaning and polishing, constraining us to only do this for the images and for the open day. F & C offered a consultation for staging the property through a partner company and the advice, included in the package, was invaluable in preparing the property for market.Richard made himself available at every step of the way to guide us in what always appeared to be the right direction for us, not him.All in, apart from the chap from Shrewsbury branch, a first-class experience and I would have no hesitation at all in recommending Richard Hughes to anyone thinking of selling their property.

Thoroughly unpleasant experience

My fiancé and I tried to buy a house through Fine and Country (Leicester branch), dealing with Leah Alexandra. Our initial impression of Leah was sweet but ditsy, as information kept changing. Then she became aggressive. We offered the asking price for the house, Leah gave us less than an hour to decide, in order to have our offer accepted, if we would pay a £10,000 non-refundable deposit which we would lose if we hadn’t sold our house within a month. We asked for the terms in writing, but the promised document never arrived. With no confirmation on who would hold the deposit or whether we would be refunded if searches or the survey revealed something unacceptable, we declined. Leah then asked us to pay a £5,000 non-refundable deposit for our offer to be accepted, the money to be given to the seller to pay her bills. Again, nothing was said about our deposit being returned depending on the contents of the survey or searches. As, with the money going straight to the seller rather than being held by a solicitor, there would be no realistic prospect of receiving our money back if the seller pulled out or unacceptable results revealed the searches or survey, we declined. We probably would have brought this house if our offer had been accepted normally, or waiting until our house sold, but we weren’t prepared to risk further problems. We would be extremely wary of considering other houses through Fine and Country. I tried to contact the manager to discuss the situation but he did not return my phone calls. The seller appears not to have had a positive experience with Fine and Country either, as their house is now listed with a different estate agent.
