Week 1. Travelled 160 miles from our home in Kent to Dorset to see our very first property. Estate agent 10 minutes late. These things happen. However vendor who we met was not impressed.Week 2. Travelled 160 miles from our home in Kent to Dorset. We wanted to see a property at 10am but estate agent insisted viewing had to be at 9.30am. We agreed thinking we would just have to leave home earlier. Left our home at 5.10am. Arrived at property at 9.26am with a voicemail saying agent would be 10 minutes late. Again these things happen. After 20 minutes with no sign of agent we phoned the office. We were told estate agent had been to property earlier and left. I queried why when we had arrived early. Was told there was a problem that they were looking into and we would be receiving another call shortly. After another wait we were told that the key to the property had been lost somewhere in the office . The reason why the estate agent had been to the property was to try to catch the vendor before they departed to get another key. The vendor could now not be reached and they could not find the key anywhere in the office. We were told they would keep making attempts to contact the vendor but we could now not be shown the property. The office hoped to contact us later in the day. As you can imagine after such a long journey we were very unimpressed . However we held out some hope that we still might be able to view the property later the same day. The estate agent asked if we had other properties to view in the area which we confirmed. In fact we only had one other to view. ‘Oh well that’s alright then’ was her reply. I pointed out that she was really missing the point with her comment. We drove around the area for a few hours and drove past the house a few hours later. The vendor had clearly returned. We however never received any further phone calls from the agent. No attempt was made to contact us despite the vendor being at the property just a short while later.We had travelled a long way and wanted to view the property but due to the incompetence of the estate agent we were denied this opportunity. I am totally convinced the estate agent probably told the vendor that we had failed to turn up to the appointment otherwise why wouldn’t they have invited us to attend later in the day after hearing of the actual sequence of events.My advice to anyone wishing to use this shambles of an estate agency is don’t. The way they conduct themselves is woeful.
