We have just completed on our sale of a Penthouse in Weymouth. We chose Symonds and Sampson because they had just sold some high end flats in the building next door. Jon Summers came around for the market appraisal and we were very pleased with his proposals for both the asking price and 'settle for' price. The rate of commission was also very competitive. It attracted 3+ offers and we went with the cash buyer close to the asking price. The survey said that an EWS1 was required and that delayed things for 6 months. We received top support from both Peter Grout-Smith who kept us regularly updated and Hilary Stockley who was super efficient. Peter provided excellent liaison with the purchasers so both sides were clear on progress. I can thoroughly recommend Symonds and Sampson to anyone selling or purchasing a property. GoogleAfter more than 9 months of failure to sell our property even though we had 20+ viewings and 4 offers (all of which failed) we moved our account to Symonds & Sampson. They told us that they would have customers ready to go and so it proved. Within 2 weeks we had a firm buyer and completion was accomplished withing the Stamp Duty relief deadline. Throughout the sale S&S were on the ball and liaised with us and the buyers very effectively. Naturally we are very pleased with the outcome and would recommend S&S to anyone especially if you have an unusual property like ours.

GoogleIf like me you have previously had poor experiences with estate agents, this is the Agent to restore your faith in the value of this service. Some good 'old fashioned' customer service with good communication and a 'can do' problem solving mentality. Without doubt they helped to keep the transaction on track by good communication and through being prepared to get involved constructively to help both parties negotiate a solution. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

'Just under eighteen months ago, S&S Ilminster (Tim and Georgie) sold our Ilminster house for us, speedily and very effectively and with great courtesy. In particular, they solved, with an ingenious solution, a tricky problem, a hiccough apparently suffered by our buyers on the sale of their own property, when they were pressured at the last minute by their own buyers. For us, this involved reducing the total property price to the amount the buyers could now afford, by taking out the separate second garage while offering the buyers the use of that garage for a year, and the opportunity to buy it then for the amount by which the property had been discounted. When, after a year, the buyers did not wish to purchase the garage, S&S were able to find alternative buyers to bid for it, with the result that we made an unexpectedly generous windfall gain. Unsurprisingly, we have a very high opinion of the guidance, the tactical skills and level of service that we received. Between us, my wife and I have bought and sold quite a number of properties over our lifetimes and we can truthfully say that no estate agent has previously earned anything like this level of respect and gratitude from us.'

Please do not go though this company. I have just finished the tenancy on a property and the lack of care or action to detail was poor though out the time spent there. If a job needed to be carried out they would never reply to emails or calls and when they did send someone over it was always a cowboy who's workmanship was terrible and attitude and manner was rude and that's even if he tuned up to carry out the work. The people in the office where not helpful and always rude and slightly aggressive. they will cut corners every chance they get and never admit fault always putting the blame onto you. They lied to me when I moved out saying all was in order and when it came to get my deposit back they put on so many charges that I received just under half of it back and that took well over 4 months. if you do go though these so called estate agents think before you do and have look to see what else is around as it will save you a lot of headaches and problems in the future. save every email and recored every conversation you have just my advice.

I transferred our house sale to Symonds & Sampson after another local estate agent failed to achieve a sale within 3 months. If you're looking for an estate agent, I recommend you speak to Daniel Magee at S&S. He was effective, enthusiastic without the usual estate agent blarney, really on the ball. He found buyers within a couple of weeks. Truly excellent.

While the agent came across well during the valuation, hence selecting them to market my property, they really are very poor. It took them four weeks to get a For Sale board up, many attempts to get the description right, and in getting it wrong I don't doubt many people passed over the house because of this mistake.After arranging a viewing, they told me 2 p.m., told the viewers 2.15 p.m. and the agent finally turned up late. I'd let the people in, as they had come some distance. The bifold doors of the garden room and the back door were open as it was a warm, sunny day. I left the agent (it was supposed to be an agent accompanied viewing) with the people and told her that I was off to look at a property. When I came home over an hour later I found that she had left the house open - luckily nobody had burgled me in that time.I wouldn't trust Symonds & Sampson Ilminster office to organise a booze-up in a brewery with the level of competence they have displayed to date and I have withdrawn from using them with immediate effect in favour of an estate agent that knows what they're doing. Do be warned!

Enquired about a rental property with these people. Recieved a response back that the property had been let, the property is still advertised now weeks later. Also, the email was signed off 'good luck in your search'....no offer of help continuing to search for somewhere, no request for details about ourselves and what we require. I found it rude and obviously unhelpful. They must have a little black book of people who are waiting for properties because they clearly don't need people enquiring online.

Incredibly disappointed with this estate agent. They tried to sell me a 3 bed including loft conversion as a 4 bed, despite not having building regulation sign off. This meant they could attempt to get more for the property rather than the actual value of a 3 bed. Standard behaviour for a shady estate agent. The seller would then only offer an indemnity policy, which is actually incredibly worthless. Of course, the estate agent gives the attitude that it's nothing to do with them and it's all the solicitor, despite being the ones who priced the property in the first place.I would advise buyers to think twice about using them.
