Whitlock and Heaps acted for us on the sale of our property in Hove. We were so impressed by the whole team. From the first initial meeting with Jack to discuss valuation and marketing, right through to the viewings and the feedback we received after these from either Jack, Peter, or Edward, it was a great experience and we would not hesitate to recommend them. The chain we were in became quite tricky towards the end, especially as we were trying to complete throughout the January lockdown, and Jack worked tirelessly with the estate agents above - and solicitors above and below in the chain - to try to resolve matters that were holding things up at the top of our chain. He was also incredibly supportive and reassuring to our own purchasers who were really keen to finalise the sale and be able to move as soon as possible, which really helped to hold the chain together. Whenever I contacted the office, if I wasn’t able to speak to Jack directly at that moment because he was out, he would always get back to me extremely speedily. I had many very long conversations with the team and felt nothing was too much trouble. They made what was quite a complicated and difficult buying and selling process due to the chain we were in as smooth and easy as it could be. We definitely made the right choice picking Jack and Whitlock and Heaps as our agent to sell our house in Poets corner. From going on the market to accepting an offer at asking price took less than 48 hours and Jack was great at vetting our buyer and appraising us of their position. Through the sale process Jack helped to remove blockers and keep the process moving, he kept us informed at every stage and was open and honest

Jack was absolutely fantastic while selling our flat. We had a few hiccups along the way (unrelated to Whitlock and Heaps) but his knowledge and patience really appeased a lot of our stress when it was greatly needed! He always remained totally professional with both us and our buyers. We really liked how it was only ever Jack who did our viewings, meaning we were confident that potential buyers were given all the information about our property rather than from a third party employer with very little knowledge about it. We have experienced this a lot when viewing other properties with other agents. He even gave us advice about a property we wanted to buy and how best to approach it. They initially successfully rented our 1-bedroom refurbished basement flat, followed by a joint property in Upper Beeding, and our family home in Brighton on our emigration to New Zealand. They have acted on our behalf on numerous occasions & have always responded in a timely & professional manner. They have also gone the extra mile to ensure we have reliable & responsible tenants.

Julianna at Cales has been absolutely fantastic, as has Brad. From checking in to checking out due to finally buying a house, they have been brilliant. Any issues I have had have been dealt with quickly and hassle free at my convenience. Check in and out was fair and hassle free and I got my deposit back on the same day I checked out. Up to this point I have always rented and have been around most of the letting agents in Brighton and Hove. Cales and Co have been by far head and shoulders above the rest in terms of customer service, putting the tenant first and just overall functionality. Things get done and they get done quickly and to a high standard. Best experience of a letting agent and managed property I have ever had. Totally recommend Cales to anyone either renting for the first time or the tenth time, you won't find a more friendly or competent letting agent in Brighton and Hove. Jack at Whitlock & Heaps - a terrific family run business - found us a buyer in the midst of a global pandemic in a single morning. His knowledge of the market is outstanding, as was his tenacity in our particular case in juggling a variety of often competing interests including three sets of solicitors, a French mortgage broker, and beyond. Context - INTERNATIONAL WORKING MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL; Application started 2 weeks ago, Holding Fee had been supplied and received. Lived in Hove previously, used Sawyer and Co. no issues. Found a flat with a colleague who is being managed by Whitlock and Heaps; whom used TenRef as their referencing service, the most profound incompetency and waste of time I have yet to experience with a Real Estate Agency. Consistent dishonesty and duplicitous coercion were found while dealing with this agency. Two major instances noted were the blatant lying about trying to establish correspondence with myself or my colleague when no records of Phone calls or Emails were recorded (Inbox, Junk, or Spam) and then having the impertinence to coerce us to accelerate the process by threatening us with a "interested third party" while trying to avoid the Holding Fee agreement, while stating "the landlord is getting impatient". Now, we are left with less than a week to the start from scratch and look for a new flat. All future business will be avoided with Whitlock and Heaps, I advise you all to do the same if you wish to save time, breath and braincells.

Anthony I understand your frustration that we did not proceed with you taking this property, however I am surprised to see this scathing review. As my colleague explained to you yesterday the landlord decided they did not want to proceed with you taking the apartment due to the findings on your failed referencing application. The initial referencing was sent to you two weeks ago today (24.07) but you did not fully complete the application form correctly until the 29.07 due to an incorrect address hence the process taking as long as it did. With regards to your previous letting experience the results will have been different as your circumstances have since changed relating to one of the reasons for your referencing having failed. If we had been made aware of these points initially then neither your time or ours would have been wasted. My client is now left with a longer void period and we are at a financial loss due to the referencing applications. It was of no benefit to us or our client to find ourselves in this situation. You are also incorrect in your comments relating to the holding fee as these monies have been refunded to the account details given to us yesterday which you are aware of. Jack Fisk

Honest and calm. Happy to recommend. We have used their services twice now and been very happy with their work on both occasions. They have just completed a sale for us and it was not an easy chain. They held it all together brilliantly. They are a very experience father and son team.
