I applied to rent a flat with Tay Letting and after asking us to undertake a credit check and verify our references with Let Alliance, Tay send us an email saying: "I regret to inform you that your tenancy application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. There was considerable interest in the property, and whilst consideration is given to each application, the landlord makes the ultimate decision when granting the tenancy. " We were offered by Let Alliance Sky and Broadband and we paid for both, if the Landlord hadn't chosen us yet why were they letting the company they use to do the background check offer us services for the flat. I asked if something had gone wrong with the background check but I got no reply. I wasted two weeks with this application, I don't think Tay Letting appreciates how important time is for people needing to move and how hard it is for me to work at my current place.NegativeQuality

I am really struggling to get Tay Lettings to take any responsibility for the unethical way the landlord treated us during our stay. In fact during my emails with Scott who is handling deposits, I have been ignored on most of my valid points in spite of already receiving an apology from Lisa. It is my understanding that an apology is an admission of wrongdoing. This is causing significant stress to me and my partner. After I have paid for a professional cleaning service, Tay lettings is attempting to charge me hundreds of pounds for a cleaning fee and to make deductions to the deposit for a tv bracket which I spent good money installing safely to improve the property. We are now in dispute and receipts will be provided if necessary. The negligence of the landlord was the reason we moved out. Cheap fire alarms that were used were faulty. One of the tradesmen that worked for the landlord was explicitly racist towards the Pakistani community, which was totally unacceptable, and they never turned up for the jobs unless they were nagged for weeks. This is the most unethical landlord I have ever dealt with and Tay Lettings are ignoring all of my points in the emails. I can only now assume that they operate to the same standard of ethics for which Lisa apologised. I am now seeking legal representation for separate cases. The way this impacted my partner's health issues was significant as it caused a lot of stress. And we also lived in a dangerous environment due to dust from the ceiling, improper structural repairs, extensive drug use in the building, broken locks on the main door that were never fixed, the list goes on. Working with landlords like this and taking their side will only degrade the reputation of this business. Obviously there are good people working there, but ethically they are falling down on their obligations, legally (for one, according to the 2019 tenants act, professional cleaning fees cannot be forced on tenants - subject to a £5000 fine - there is a professional cleaning fee deducted but I have proof that I did pay for professional cleaning already) and morally. I will update the review if the issues are resolved to reflect my experience but as it stands I could not recommend working with this company or its associates.

My partner and I moved into a property just outside of St. George's Cross and we enjoyed our time immensely. The flat was perfect for a couple, small but homely and very well kept and furnished. We had no fuss moving in and out of the property, finding everyone at Tay communicable and effective. During our tenancy, we very rarely had to be in touch with them as everything was perfect. They were also very reasonable and prompt in returning our deposit to us. We can't thank Tay Letting enough for giving us the opportunity to rent an apartment that gave us such happy memories :)

I have been working with these guys for a few months and I can't articulate how awesome they are. They are agents of the property that I am renting out. I wish I could give a lower rating. Incompetent would be the best word to describe them. Highlights include: When I had found a replacement for my original flat mate, they initially told me i would need to physically move out with all of my belongings for a few days (in the dead of winter) so they could carry out a inventory. Only backing down when I pointed out how absurd this was. Messed up my the safe deposits Scotland account when my original flat mate moved out so that his name remained on the account causing him to not receive his deposit until around a year after his departure (when i moved out). Left my name on the lease for around 3 months after i moved out, despite the other tenant remaining in the flat and paying the full rent. When asked why this was, their response was ' i don't have an answer for you, sorry about that' As a result of the above I then get charged for cleaning fees when the other tenant moved out, despite not living in the flat FOR 3 MONTHS and having no control over the cleanliness of the property when the report was carried out. Being chased for rent for a flat I no longer lived in. Being sent receipts for rent payments for a flat I no longer lived in. Being called by Tay to be asked if my old flatmate had found a replacement for me after I moved out. Being ignored when asking about the return of my deposit. Having to get Safe deposits Scotland Involved to get any response to my inquiries about my deposit. Lack of communication, lack of professionalism. Just a god awful experience. My expectations were already at rock bottom for any letting agents, but Jesus Christ. I'm sure they are good for landlords, though.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism
