Worst letting agency ever - and that means a lot. Tried to extort the tenants. Unprofessional on every level. Never returning phone calls, never responding to emails. If I could give zero stars, I would. Avoid at all costs.

Would not recommend. After moving into an apartment let by James Laurence Lettings and Sales, it has been confusion after confusion. Always us tenants calling them, as they rarely never got back to us and forgot to solve our issues. They are not really doing their work...

Appalling customer service and knowledge of operations. Instead of guiding the tenants and helping to go ahead with the correct procedures we were given wrong instructions for the processes in place. After finding out the right way for things to be done they were still not rectified. First week of leasing consisted of problems from the get go, no working lighting in the bathroom and kitchen areas, faulty electrical appliance resulting in a short and fuse of the mains. The apartment seemed generally tidy when we moved in but upon closer inspection revealed a fairly disappointing dirty state with food, debris and rubbish in the drawers, cupboards and even behind the immersion heater. Lack of timely communication and failure to provide correct information. The slightly higher prices compared to other estate agencies of the same properties unfortunately did not reflect a higher standard of service in this case.

For sales Andy McHugo and his team are first class. Andy is highly professional, eager to sell with a fantastic knowledge of the Birmingham housing market. Having secured an offer higher than the asking price within a week of going on the market for my last property, I am now returning to them to sell my flat and within hours of signing on the dotted line they have a viewing lined up. We used James Laurence Sales and Lettings to sell our house and they were the agents for the vendor of the house we were purchasing. We would like to thank them for the advice prior to putting our house on the market, for their hard work in very quickly securing a sale and for managing the process once our sale was agreed. Despite being in a four transaction chain, our agent Athina Morse managed the process very well, liaising with various solicitors and keeping all parties updated with progress. Their recommendations with respect to the conveyancing and financial advice with our mortgage were also good. There was good communication between the agents, solicitor and financial advisor which facilitated the process. In short, it was a good experience and we are delighted with our new home.

If only all estate agents were like James Laurence! The level of service on both sales and letting is outstanding. We have several investment properties in different locations and therefore deal with agents on a regular basis but James Laurence leave all the others standing. We deal with Danielle Clifton on the sales side and she is an absolute joy to work with. Her in depth knowledge of the Birmingham property market coupled with her total professionalism and dedication make her the best agent we've ever come across. Henry Crane then follows up on the lettings side and he is also superb. He has secured us fantastic tenants for our flats within record time and is a total pleasure to deal with at all times. I always look forward to speaking to them both as they make the whole process not only stress free but actually enjoyable! A independent estate agent with good local knowledge, an excellent level of customer service. They provided much help and support throughout the entire stressful process! They kept in me informed at all stages of the sale process, chased both mine and the buyer's solicitor when movement appeared to stalled.
