I’m sad to leave this review but it’s reached a point where I’m disappointed in the level of service we’ve received. We rented a property through H&H and left the property this past Monday. It was our dream bungalow in every way and we were told on the viewings that the LL would definitely be open to selling and, once we were settled, we should meet him. We were also advised that a long-term tenancy would be no problem. Imagine our surprise when we met the LL and were told he would “never sell as he didn’t need the money” but a long-term tenancy would be fine. We advised him we’d like 5 years minimum which he seemed happy with. We advised that we’d love to do improvements but wanted the security before we added value to a property that didn’t belong to us. Within a couple of months we approached H&H to organise a renewal, as we had a 6 month tenancy paid up front which would end in September. We were surprised again to find out our LL would only do 18 months and there was no movement on this, especially when not long before this we were texting a member of staff from H&H who said that long-term should be fine. We moved from another property in Daventry specifically for this bungalow, so we feel deflated and lied to. When I’ve brought this up with H&H they’ve completely denied saying this and made out that we must have heard it wrong, despite us having proof over texts. Nobody has actually pursued our complaint or tried to make it right. We left the property and a week later I still haven’t had my overpaid rent back from the LL and no guidance on when I should expect to receive this, despite chasing. This is nearly £2k. With regards to my deposit, I’ve been given an obscene gardening cost to be deducted with no proof of what it is actually paying for, despite asking to see the quote several times. I admit that the garden is overgrown and DOES need work but not £500+ worth. We explained to our LL why we were letting the flower beds grow out when he last visited, so it wasn’t that we were just being lazy. Yes, the grass needs mowing and the hedges cutting but, again, not £500 worth of work. The property was handed to us without being professionally cleaned, when we first got the keys we were there until gone midnight cleaning so we could move furniture in. I’m not sure why this went so badly wrong as H&H clearly have a good reputation but I’d never use them again.

An amazing estate agents, who go above and beyond! When first viewing houses with Howkins & Harrison, Amy was amazing - very knowledgeable about the properties we were viewing, was super accommodating and seemed to really care about us finding the right home for our needs (unlike other estate agents we experienced). We then had a great experience with Karen who managed to hold a second viewing for us, in-day, for the property we then went on to buy. Since having our offer accepted, Martin has been such a great support. Without him, we really don't think this purchase could have happened and are so excited we now get to move into our forever home!

My property has had issues for a long while with a communal entrance door which allowed access to anyone. The new Property Manager, Drew Stewart, contacted me about this and took full details. I was shocked to find out that just a couple of hours after our first conversation the door had been fully repaired and was now secure. With young children and elderly people in my block this was a huge safety issue so I’m so grateful to Drew for taking my concerns so seriously and dealing with this as a priority.

I have rented with H&H for 5 years now and when you live in a property for that long issues will come up. On this occasion there was a problem with the plumbing and although I initially called it in on a Saturday morning, was called back and told that someone would be to fix it on Monday (I requested afternoon). I called on Monday and was lucky enough to speak to a gentleman named Drew, he was very polite and have managed to send me someone the next day (Chris) who went above and beyond to fix the issue, and even though he had to deal with a very peculiar tight space which required a specific slim type of materials, even though that brand new part turned out to be faulty and he had to go and get another brand new part, neither Chris nor Drew gave up on their task, with very fast actions and evident knowledge and hard work, they managed not only to fix the issue but also turn an unhappy customer to an extremely happy (5*) one who is very thankful and appreciative of the work Chris did and how Drew handled this from start to finish. Just wanted to say how great these people are. It's hard to find a letting company that cares about the tenants. I only have good memories about the tenancy. During the 2 years we've been with them, they helped us a lot, never questioned things, always eager to help and never a bad moment.
