GoogleWe rented through hawes and co for 2+ years. From what I can gather from other reviews, H&C provide decent customer service for sellers and buyers, but unfortunately this was not our experience as tenants. We are fortunate enough now to be in a position to buy, but we will actively avoid H&C for future sales because of our experience as tenants. In our experience there was a culture of general hostility towards tenants, a perpetuation of the idea that tenants are in some way a nuisance by virtue of being a tenant. Admittedly the volume of interaction you'll experience from the managing agents is dictated to some degree by your landlord, but we were given more quiet enjoyment and treated with more courtesy at University as student tenants, which feels worth noting. Their property management department are unpleasant to deal with and other departments seem to lack organisational skills and have worryingly little knowledge of housing legislation. During our tenancy, we had a number of people - staff and contractors - letting themselves in without permission or prior notice, which really impacts how you feel in your (albiet, rented) home. My advice would be to avoid, but if you do chose to rent with H&C, be prepared to advocate for yourself and challenge their default position; I think tenants can often assume that estate agents' practice will be guided by best practice and law, but in our experience H&C didn't always follow the book, and certainly weren't interested in upholding tenants' rights.

The Hawes & Co Property Management department is a big part of our business, so we take the views of our tenants and landlords very seriously. We apologise if you felt that the property management department didn’t communicate with you in a way you would expect, or if the advice you have received was incorrect in some way. I cant find any evidence that a property was accessed by one of Hawes staff or contractors without your knowledge but if this is true once again we apologise and perhaps these individuals have been confused with one of the owners own suppliers. The last time Hawes accessed the property was May 2021 to attend a faulty socket, which is some time ago now. We wish you a successful onward move and all the best for the future.

GoogleVery enthusiastic at the beginning with a very professional approach to the sale, examples, photos and broachers. Lots of viewings started straight away, culminating in serval opportunities. After discussions and with very good advice, a buyer was selected. This was very positive and as a cash buyer would result in a quick sale. This certainly made me very happy as I had two other messy estate agents loosing buyers at the last minute, costing me 8 months of time and money. Expectations slowly withered as it became apparent the progress dramatically slowed down and the eye was taken off the ball, even though I was quite explicit about keeping on top of this, as from the last two experiences. Deadlines given by me came and went and a lot of and I mean a lot of concessions were given. This resulted in unleashing my anger in the agents office, which got a lot of attention, where by, with a happy ending, quickly resolved all issues and prompted a swift exchange and completion. I would like to highlight the fact that being an estate agent is not very easy and puts them in a very difficult position of negotiating with several parties and trying to please all in a professional manner, I do take my hat of to them. In the whole they were polite and professional but just need to be on top of all their business dealings. Thank you.

GoogleI would strongly advise against Hawes & Co. They lured us to instruct them by overvaluing our flat. They then failed to produce a single viewing in the space of four months, even after lowering the price. We instructed another agent and had a vewing within a week. Then more and more viewings poured in, offers soon after, and we now have a buyer. In the mean time, the agent at Hawes & Co left and we were not even informed: nobody was looking after us for god knows how long. When we phoned in, all they cared about was to keep us on their book without doing any work to try and sell our flat. When I decided to give them notice, It took a week for me to speak on the phone to the branch manager, Sarah Walker, as clearly nobody cared. I later emailed her with a question, and to this day, over a month later, I still haven’t had a reply. In a nutshell, we wasted much time because of them, and their lack of courtesy really puts them to shame. There are many much better estate agents in Surbiton, so do avoid Hawes & Co.

GoogleWe sold a property through Hawes. We had good communication on where we should price the property and had a large number of potential buyers visiting the premises. The timing of visits was clearly communicated and ultimately the offer and completion process handled well with any issues being promptly attended to. I would recommend Hawes and use them again.

GoogleWorst agents I’ve ever used and most certainly the worst property management division I’ve ever come across. They never respond, they only take your money and give you zero service. They certainly don’t have your best interest at heart. Please watch out if you are buying anything from them. They sell properties knowing very well the defects involved but hide it. They need to be investigated by the regulators.

GoogleI have rent out a bed room flat with Hawes&co almost 2 years ago where I lived on my own. I have signed a 2 year contract with a 1 year break clause. During that time I have had issues with the neighbours which have been left unresolved so the situation has become progressively worse week on week. I was also recovering after my surgery. The Hawes & Co branch has been fully aware of my situation from the start of my tenancy and have not done anything to help resolve the issue. I was forced to move out on as the level of disturbance had become unbearable. In the beginning I have been asked to pay an extra money as I was in breach of my contract to cover remaining months beforehand the end of my tenancy. I've gone through a massive fight and I hope nobody has to go through the same as me. It was horrible and extremely stressful
